The Every 15 Minutes Program was just at my school March 1 and 2. I am a sophomore so I was unable to see this program but heard great things. I will see it once I am a senior but I watched this video so I know what happens and kind of what to expect, because I'm joining the CHP Explorer Program in a few months. This video really affected all my friends that I have showed so I hope it gets the point to them before we actually see the program.
@Babydeexmidqet i am pretty sure this is an reenactment, the parent's or some friends probably told this story to the media and made this video for this can be a lesson, never drink and drive
always make sure that the video is entirely accurate. Killing someone while under the influence of alcohol is Involuntary Manslaughter, not 2nd Degree Murder.
Question though, the red head who played as "Jeff" (The curly haired one), I noticed we never see him again, did his character die or did the actor get cold feet and was written out? That's the only flaw to this film but still it's really good!
@MikeArcade07 He survived the crash, was sent to the hospital, and was never heard from again for the rest of the performance. Although, if memory serves me, I think he died.
@jbanados Really? It didn't seem he was fatally wounded, but then again what do I know. Also no offence to the character "Jose" (If he's based on a real person who ended up with this fate), but a REALLY hated his arrogence, he seemed okay and all (I guess) but most of the students in SLHS had that amount of arrogence with zero redeemable qualities back when I went there (I'm pretty sure nothing has changed), that's what I hated about the school. But hey that's just me.
Also while I'm proud of you're work I must say that while this film will get to some people, I don't think a good number of students will learn a lesson, I mean they will at first but when they soon forget this film a good number of them will go back to those ways, if so I don't think they can be saved, but you guys ARE saving a lot more lives then without this film, so bravo everyone. Bravo. (Yes I have a very low opinion on teens and people my age.)
Great little film. I used to go to this school myself actually (before transfering to get credits to graduate), nice use of locations from the school and around the area. Funny thing though, those bleachers out there at the crash site near the baseball area, I used to sit there with some friends before PE! Well acted, the actors and the faces at the credits looked familar, did you guys pick locals for the film?
i could only emagne what it must take to take part in something so amazing but sad. i mean just watching it is makeing me think twice and made me think twice. let alone being apart of it. i dont know how i could handle takeing part in something so amazing but sad. i am but it's for anti bullying not drinking and driveing.
I lost a friend due to drunk driving, not dead, but she got mad at me.One day she brought beer to school and a few others were all gonna party and drink in the parking lot before heading out to a club, and I went and told a few adults at school, they were escorted home, and also suspended. She got mad at me and told me to mind my fucking business.I thought I did the right thing.=(
@ghostlylighthouses Thats because you did do the right thing. People do stupid things and don't like to admit when they're wrong but she's gonna be thankful when shes a little older and looks back. You were smart to not fall into the peer pressure anyway. :-)
I thought it would be involuntary manslaughter, not Second Degree Murder.I thought Second degree Murder was where you purposely killed someone, but you did not plan it.Like Example, a husband comes home from work with flowers for his wife, walks in finds her cheating, he grabs a knife from the kitchen and stabs her to death, then kills the other guy.He didn't have plans to kill somoene, but he did it purposely.Involuntary is where some dies because of your lack of judgement/neglectful acts.
I told my principal about these Every 15 Minutes videos, so my whole high school is going to have an assembly and watch this specific video. I hope it really changes the way everyone thinks, and that they take this seriously.
@iwantCody920 Wow IWantCody, that's awesome. What school do you go to? that is amazing. We feel so honored.
Glad our video struck a cord with you. You could help out immensely by asking your friends to spread this video around, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, all the usual suspects.
I've seen videos in health class on the effects of drinking and driving and those were just as graphic as these. Being that I'm an incoming sophomore in September these videos definitely made my decision as of not to drink and drive. I want my school to have a program like this and I think I'm gonna start one. This video as well as the others should be taken very seriously. Just imagining your parents losing their child is heartbreaking and teenagers NEED to be above the influence and stop tryi
Outstanding video. Every person should watch this. The sad thing is that this is something that can easily be avoided, yet people choose to think that they are invincible. I never want to be that mom sitting at the side of the road holding my dead child in my hands because someone decided to drive under the influence. Take this video to heart people! STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING.
This video really hit me. When someone tells me to not drink & drive i usually brush it off because i'm like "Duh, i know, i'm not stupid." But this video made me realize that even the smartest person can make a bad decision that can ruin their life when under the influence. And it makes me want to change, & be Above the influence for my last year of highschool because I don't even want to risk my future or anyone else's.
I alway feel like the most emotional part of these videos is always when the family hears the news about their children's death and when they're in court talking about their loss.
I'm glad she got a long time in prison. Drinking and driving is something that should be taken lightly. You put your life in danger and everyone elses' around you.
@peachpunk64 I'm sorry you feel this way. You obviously have never lost a loved one because of someone else's bad decision. It only takes one bad decision to ruin the lives of so many, and without harsh punishment there are no incentives for people to stop making these choices. It happens all too often and so many people are needlessly killed. It's simple, if you choose to drink, DO NOT DRIVE. I commend all involved in the making of this video. Thank you for getting the message out there!
Oh my gosh i dont even wanna watch this one after watching the other one!!! You already got me to make the decision to not drink and drive....although i want to see want happens..but i dont wanna get scarred again...........good job by the way. with all the simulations.
@TheSorchaa Yes Scorchaa, it's similar. We're the same creative team behind Castro Valley High School, and many of the elements of the Every 15 Minutes program is similar for both (drunk driving, going to jail, tragic deaths, etc).
We did include pics and videos of the kids involved here, which we like quite a bit.
Yeaah honestly I don't know how you can make this! It's a good lesson video but it makes me sick and really sad inside, :/ The stupid choices we as kids make are freakin' ridiculous! I never want to drive again because if this ever came down to me killing inncent people i wouldn't be able to live with myself! To put family and friends through this if it actually did happen it would kill me! I hope noone ever has to go through this ever because it's just really sad and heart breaking,!
I'm going to show this to my outreach club at school. We do a drinking and driving (includes texting) awareness week and I think we should definitely show this at the assembly next year. I think it will give people something to definitely think about. This is so powerful. If only I found this sooner I couldve shown it this year! I cried so much, and I think it was great they added parents reactions, that really got me.
I was one of the people on the bleachers watching this. Not long after this my aunt was in a car crash and lived. I hope people learn that drinking and driving is dangerous and watch out
This is really an extraordinary piece of work. The professionalism of the video is amazing. It must have taken a huge amount of coordination with different community agencies, which is very difficult to do. I wish there were a place to read about the making of the video - who are the people involved in its production and how did they manage to involve the different agencies. In any case, the effect was stunningly emotional. An outstanding piece of work!
This Video made me ball my eyes out. Such a great message that needs to be spread around! This production shows the truth about this serious and life altering issue and its horrific consequences! Great Job!
@valentinetajai Those people were in the video in the party scene. They didn't actually die, but this is an illustration of the emotional impact of the accident. Part of showing that is the 'memorial' pictures at the end.
It makes a little more sense in the context of the whole program at the school on the days it's going on.
we did this at my high school. i was always against drinking. but this really topped it for me! i cried throughout the whole thing. one of my close friends likes to go out & get . . .excuse my language; "fucked up" because it makes things "more fun". i always tell her drinking doesn't always makes things fun. i showed her this clip & cried & hugged me & said "never again" now she understands WHY it's not ok. thank you for posting this up!
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT i HAVE SEEN THIS VIDEO. iT WAS REFERED TO ME BY MY UNCLE BECAUSE THE YOUNG MAN WHO DIES AT THE HOSPITAL WAS MY LITTLE COUSINE JOSE! COUSIN I CRIED MY EYES OUT WATCHING AUNTY AT YOUR SIDE AND I KNOW IT MUST HAD BEEN HARD FOR YOU TO FIGHT BACK YOUR TEARS!! i LOVE YOU COUSIN.. CONGRATS ON YOUR SUCCESS N iLL SEE YOU THIS SUMMER!! L0VE YOU!!
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT i HAVE SEEN THIS VIDEO. iT WAS REFERED TO ME BY MY UNCLE BECAUSE THEY YOUNG MAN WHO DIES AT THE HOSPITAL WAS MY LITTLE COUSINE JOSE! L0VE YOU!!
@AutumnPheonix 1 I am the young man who died at the hospital and to be honest with you idk how i did not lose my composure in that emotional scene. I had to focus my attention elsewhere because we only had one take and if i would have broken character then the scene would not have been as powerful....as hard as i tried to focus on something else i couldnt help but be effected by my moms tears and my face was twitching a bit from trying to hold back the tears...and yes, this scene was draining
@kanyekobe21 HELLO CUZZIN.. YOU DID A GREAT JOB IN THIS VIDEO!! I THINK THAT YOU DID A GREAT JOB AT SHOWING PEOPLE THE REALITY OF HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO LIVE EACH LIFE AS IF ITS YOUR LAST AND HOW ONE MISTAKE CAN AFFECT OTHERS!! i AM S0 VEY PR0UD OF YOU LIL COUSINE!!
I have this burning question if someone can answer it for me. In the scene with the young man who died at the hospital, and who's body was shown to his mother....I can see for myself that the tears were real. It's not hard to replicate emotions like that with a thought, especially when you love someone. How was it that the young man didn't become distressed with his mother's emotion? And was there scenes along the way that were emotionally draining to you?
I just received a call from my 14 yr old daughter. One of her teachers had posted this video onFB. I want to Thank the person that took the time to post this video. I pray to God that this never happens to anyone else. PLEASE, LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS, we don't want no harm to come to anyone. As you can see it only takes a second and everyone life is changed. Don't ever think that it won't happen to you. I have a friend that lost both of their children in separate accidents. They were Sober :'(
I just watched it again for the umpteenth time. Knowing now, that every single person was acting doesn't at all change how it made me feel to watch this. Everyone..from the victims, to their families....to the medical personnel...put so much of themselves into this that it seemed real. It evoked real emotions from me...I shared this on my FB page, in the hopes that the young people I know will think twice before drinking and driving, or texting and driving. Thanks again for a job well done.
@AutumnPheonix1 Hey Autum, thanks so much for the kind words. We thought about the different techniques we tried here for a few months, and worked on various aspects of this video for a few weeks. It's nice to see it paid off.
We love doing these Every 15 Minutes videos. What do you do that you've seen so many of them?
@RocketSpots/back in the day 20 years ago, I was being home schooled and one of the courses my mother insisted that I take was one called "community service". Part of that course was helping my father, a Public Affairs Officer for the CHP set up and present publications to local high schools. They didn't call it "15 minutes" back then, but the idea was the same. Unfortunately, most of them fell short and didn't go far enough.
@RocketSpots What you and your team did wasn't just to portray the accident scene...but you tapped into the aftermath of that decision. That is where a lot of the schools didn't make the grade. They didn't go far enough. A choice like that is so rarely about the immediate and is more about the long term loss. My dad showed videos like this to Freshman and Sophomores. Juniors and Seniors got "Red Asphalt".....both were powerful. Your team, and your families did an awesome job.
@AutumnPhoenix1 I'm one of the actresses in the video, and on the behalf of everyone involved, thank you. It was truly a life changing experience. Hopefully we've opened many eyes to the consequences of their actions.
I have seen many of these out of different schools around the US, and this one is one of the best. Thank you so much for giving of yourselves in such a unique and undoubtedly emotional way. I can't imagine that any of you actors and actresses walked away untouched by the events you portrayed on film. Perhaps because of you, your peers will know that split second decisions they make can alter the course and have a profound effect of their lives...and the lives of others.
im 13 my freind was telling me towatch this video cuz his brother goes to that school alll wen we were playing call of duty bottom _ is it is very touching
A very touching video. I went through something similar with the driver of a car being under a drug rage with me and 2 friends in the back, we were in a crash and I was the only one hurt with a concussion and 3 finger bones shattered. The car totaled. It's a sick reality. Drunk driving is a horror that keeps me from driving. A near death experience can do that. Well done to the actors/ volunteers, this made me cry. I hope others learn from this. Especially around prom/graduation time.
@MsLunarya Hey Luna, thanks for watching and thanks for sharing. We really appreciate it, and have seen first hand the pain these kind of experiences can bring.
If you can, please spread this video around. We made it to be seen by students. This needs to be seen by people 15 to 21 years old. If you can get it out there, we'd appreciate it.
It hit home. I had to deal with asituation similar to that. The reactions of the mother's is what real got to me. No parent would ever want to have to see their child like that. I shed a tear thinking what if my mom had to go thru that.
@LadySoniece Hey Soniece, we appreciate what you're saying. A lot of students assume the biggest impact will be on students. But when you're dead, it's your friends, family, parents that take the weight of the loss. Thanks for watching. And like we're telling everyone, if you can, please spread this video around. We made it to be seen by students. This needs to be seen by people 15 to 21 years old. If you can get it out there, we'd appreciate it.
This made me cry. I stayed in that hospital and heard tragic events like this occurring I was while I was there. I even went to that high school in 1990-1993. The death of a student is tragic, period! $;-(
@SoulfreshhPwns It's not real, it's just to bring awareness to the students of what can happen, and to think twice about the choices you make as it can affect others.
WELL DONE GUYS, YOU DID A GREAT JOB. I HOPE & PRAY THAT THESE TEENAGERS SEE & REALLY HEAR THIS VIDEO & NOT SAY IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME BECAUSE LIKE YOU SAY EVERY 15 MINUTES A LIFE IS TAKEN BECAUSE OF DRINKING & DRIVING. THE MESSAGE IS LOUD & CLEAR. DON'T DRINK & DRIVE.
i heard that the parents knew the whole time, they were a big part of it from the beginning. they're just really good actors. i cry every time i see the parents cry.
Great job by all ,to the person who asked how much to make,if it saves one life more than worth it,to the guy who hated the F***ing video, guess you'll never get it,to the person who was upset with people laughing and not being respectful during the presentation, that's just how some young people cover up their true emotions,I am sure it got to them,to the parents ,students and volunteers who helped make this god bless you, please watch and take this to heart DO NOT DRINK and DRIVE
Wow, this seriously is sad. I'm a sophomore so i couldn't see this, but thanks to Youtube i was able to:) Now i have to wait until senior year to watch this..
Honestly. It did make me cry. It's just so sad seeing how all of that could happen, and it must really suck how much the parents of the victims felt, i bet they died inside knowing that they lost their child. I just wondering, but did the parents believe at the beginning that their child was in a car crash or did they all know it was fake?
@Kr4zi4ur0mg Not much. Most of the workers on this are volunteers, and the people who do get paid do it more as a public service, so their pay is much less than normal. And the cops/fire fighters/paramedics get paid the same whether they're here or taking a call (and sometimes they do get a call and have to bail on this to do actual work for the public...)
Very powerful.. You guys did a terrific job. As a parent, I hope all young adults grasp the gravity and seriousness of their sometimes spontaneous decisions. It only takes a moment for a life to change.. I'm very impressed..
This video is soo good. Compared to other Every 15 Minutes videos from other schools, this is the only one that made me cry, and I never thought I would. It shows how realistic this is. Great job on this whole project.
great video these past days made me kinda of sad but it made me think too. Although all the people who made fun of it cracked jokes and talked during it pissed me off especially when the guest speaker the girl was talking about her parents made me angry like no other ppl were making fun of her beside that great job
thanks so much! We really liked working on it, and are happy it struck a chord with you. Please do what you can to get the word out about drinking and driving. Help us spread the word. Thanks!

This should be shown in every highschool. People don't realize the horrible things that can happen from drinking and driving.

Great Job!

It's a movie peoples ino it cuz i go to that school so no ones dead. It sucks that this really happens in life tho.
loldramas 10 months ago
at the end are those the real people that died, and are they in the movie too?
valentinetajai 10 months ago

Beautifully done. If this video doesn't change people's minds, then I don't know what will.
undagr0undvibes 11 months ago 2
I just watched it again for the umpteenth time. Knowing now, that every single person was acting doesn't at all change how it made me feel to watch this. Everyone..from the victims, to their families....to the medical personnel...put so much of themselves into this that it seemed real. It evoked real emotions from me...I shared this on my FB page, in the hopes that the young people I know will think twice before drinking and driving, or texting and driving. Thanks again for a job well done.
AutumnPheonix1 11 months ago 21
@AutumnPheonix1 Hey Autum, thanks so much for the kind words. We thought about the different techniques we tried here for a few months, and worked on various aspects of this video for a few weeks. It's nice to see it paid off.
We love doing these Every 15 Minutes videos. What do you do that you've seen so many of them?
RocketSpots 11 months ago
@RocketSpots/back in the day 20 years ago, I was being home schooled and one of the courses my mother insisted that I take was one called "community service". Part of that course was helping my father, a Public Affairs Officer for the CHP set up and present publications to local high schools. They didn't call it "15 minutes" back then, but the idea was the same. Unfortunately, most of them fell short and didn't go far enough.
AutumnPheonix1 10 months ago
@RocketSpots What you and your team did wasn't just to portray the accident scene...but you tapped into the aftermath of that decision. That is where a lot of the schools didn't make the grade. They didn't go far enough. A choice like that is so rarely about the immediate and is more about the long term loss. My dad showed videos like this to Freshman and Sophomores. Juniors and Seniors got "Red Asphalt".....both were powerful. Your team, and your families did an awesome job.
AutumnPheonix1 10 months ago
@AutumnPhoenix1 I'm one of the actresses in the video, and on the behalf of everyone involved, thank you. It was truly a life changing experience. Hopefully we've opened many eyes to the consequences of their actions.
applesanndbananas 11 months ago
I have seen many of these out of different schools around the US, and this one is one of the best. Thank you so much for giving of yourselves in such a unique and undoubtedly emotional way. I can't imagine that any of you actors and actresses walked away untouched by the events you portrayed on film. Perhaps because of you, your peers will know that split second decisions they make can alter the course and have a profound effect of their lives...and the lives of others.

LadySoniece 11 months ago 3
@LadySoniece Hey Soniece, we appreciate what you're saying. A lot of students assume the biggest impact will be on students. But when you're dead, it's your friends, family, parents that take the weight of the loss. Thanks for watching. And like we're telling everyone, if you can, please spread this video around. We made it to be seen by students. This needs to be seen by people 15 to 21 years old. If you can get it out there, we'd appreciate it.

This is excellent! I can't say it's the best because the other one I saw was great too, but it's definitely a tie.
a question: Is there like a cast list? In the other one I saw there was also the couple and the athlete, is that required?

Wow, this seriously is sad. I'm a sophomore so i couldn't see this, but thanks to Youtube i was able to:) Now i have to wait until senior year to watch this..
Honestly. It did make me cry. It's just so sad seeing how all of that could happen, and it must really suck how much the parents of the victims felt, i bet they died inside knowing that they lost their child. I just wondering, but did the parents believe at the beginning that their child was in a car crash or did they all know it was fake?

I wondered how much money went into this... lols.
Kr4zi4ur0mg 11 months ago
@Kr4zi4ur0mg Not much. Most of the workers on this are volunteers, and the people who do get paid do it more as a public service, so their pay is much less than normal. And the cops/fire fighters/paramedics get paid the same whether they're here or taking a call (and sometimes they do get a call and have to bail on this to do actual work for the public...)
RocketSpots 11 months ago
Very powerful.. You guys did a terrific job. As a parent, I hope all young adults grasp the gravity and seriousness of their sometimes spontaneous decisions. It only takes a moment for a life to change.. I'm very impressed..
