Is the Cold Steel Leatherneck made of SK-5 steel or German 4116 Stainless? Your site says 4116, but other sites (Amazon, for example) list them as SK-5. Plus, (although I'm no expert on steels), 4116 doesn't seem like something for outdoor use that the Leatherneck sounds like it's designed for.

Black Survival Edge and Kopis Machete look great. I just got my first 3 Cold Steel purchases and all looked outstanding except my primary purchase, the CS shovel. It's just a shovel, but it was bent, chipped and scratched when I opened the box. Too much hassle to return, but functional. GI Tanto was an exceptional value. Built like a tank, sharp as a razor and one of the best sheaths I've seen for the price. Got the Sax machete to push me over the $50 shipping point, but was very pleased.

thanks to Keesurt, Truthman, and CSKnives for the input. Cold Steel has always been regarded as an honest business, but it's good to hear from the consumers as well. It doesn't matter much to me if the machete doesn't come razor sharp (I don't plan on shaving with them after all) putting a fresh edge on a new blade is half the fun!

@csknives So is it more like a dlc coat then a Teflon coat? Does it wear off as bad as the Teflon coats do? Rust resistance is good, I'm not as concerned with the other two. I just don't want my knife to have half the coating gone after I use it a few times

@ibesteadymobbin92 No coating is going to last forever, especially when a knife is seeing hard use. It performs very well but it isn't indestructable. for what it's worth, I was always very happy with the Teflon coating. I like my knives to be used and don't mind if they look like they've seen some work. ;)

@ibesteadymobbin92 yes. Tuff-Ex. Our testing has shown this coating offers three major advantages for tactical blades. First, it helps the blade to resist rust. Second, it eliminates glare and light reflections, which may give its user away. And third, it's a superior lubricant, which causes the blade to slip through even tough material with markedly less friction. This means you can cut deeper and far longer than with a non-Tuff-Ex coated blade.

I used to love the leatherneck. I thought it was slightly better than a ka-bar especially for the price, mainly because it was full flat ground and had a good sheath standard. However, now that its made from a stainless, I'm not so impressed. Hopefully it will make a great value fighter.

@tendoking48 Our Machetes are incredibly popular. They are made from great steel, they come with a working edge that's perfect for Machetes (and sharpen to a razor edge if that's your thing). They hold an edge well, they are tough and they are inexpensive. What's not to love? :)

@csknives I take CS over my columbian machete Ive used since I was young. Its held up to quite a bit more, though between the two The columbian is a little more comfortable, the CS blade is better by a very slight edge. overall, at half the price of the columbian one I bought, yours far outweighs the first, Nice work :)

Jizzed all over myself over the lone Star Hunter with the thumb stud and pocket clip. I've been waiting for a traditional looking hunting folder that has a pocket clip, and the thub stud added is just even better. Can't wait to order one of those, along with more goodies.
