"In Exodus we have an account of the manner in which Jehovah delivered the Jews from Egyptian bondage. We now know that the Jews were never enslaved by the Egyptians; that the entire story is a fiction. We know this because there is not found in Hebrew a word of Egyptian origin and there is not found in the language of the Egyptians a word of Hebrew origin. So we know that the Hebrews and Egyptians could not have lived together." - Robert Ingersoll
I don't suppose you could include the translation of the lyrics? It would be interesting to see how they had to change the wording to keep the flow. That, and Hebrew is so much richer than English, so it's always fun to see how Hebrew songs compare to English songs.
@earanemith, maybe you're thinking of the "ch" sound, correct me if i'm wrong, but dosn't the dutch language use the "ch" sound too, but with the "ze" or "je" letters instead right? :-)
@earanemith It could be because the Dutch are probably descended from the Hebrew tribe of Zebulun (this isn't a confirmed fact, but there is strong evidence for it).
Catholicism and Christianity are one and the same, with Catholicism being one particular interpretation (called a "denomination") of Christianity. What people often mislabel as "Christian," when comparing Catholics and "Christians," would be Protestantism, any one of the many different denominations of Christianity which do not agree with Catholic beliefs regarding the Pope or prayers to the Saints. Aside from this, there are few serious theological differences between Catholics and Protestants.
@bluedragongirl101 It's not an ethnicity. My dad was Catholic for a while, but I don't have Catholicism in my blood. Catholicism is one of two major denominations within Christianity. In some countries, it's considered separate from Christianity. You can be a Catholic pagan, a Catholic Christian, or a run-of-the-mill (Protestant) Christian. This is common in Latin America, particularly Mexico.
Actually the language they spoke can't be certain because their territory extended quite far north to Palestine, which suggests Arabic parts of their language. But they had intimate relations with Israelites and they appeared to have understood each other reasonably well. However at that time Israelites spoke Aramean so the midian language, whilst not known, could possibly have been a dialect of Aramean with notes of Arabic. The land of Midian by R.Burton is more expansive on this. ^^
~ Dude, there's no way to know what they spoke unless you use a time machine. It sounds nice anyway. Aramaic was the language of Jesus, a small dialect from the place where he grew up. Anyway, the texts of Moses were written in Hebrew, so this language adds a bit of authenticity, even if they may not have spoken like this. Enjoy the video people, especially the meaning of the song!
@yaoitenshi Midian was a large tribe that lived in smaller nomadic groups. Most were hostile and lived to the east and north of Canaan. But this particular group lived south of Canaan, in what is today Saudi Arabia. They spoke Hebrew (Phoenitic Chaldean), because they were Hebrews, being descendants of Abraham, the great-great-great grandson of Eber the Chaldean. Arabic and Aramaic weren't developed as languages for several more centuries, and the Edomites probably spoke them first.

"Every little thread in the tapestry even if its colour is spectacular
Does not conceive the wholeness of the threads around
And the rock that sits above the top of the hill
Reckons itself the most important and the base redundant
So how shall you judge your worth?
Perhaps it's twice as great
It's impossible to see in the eyes of others
Look at your life through heaven's eyes
A lake of gold in mid-desert is less than water from a well

"To a wandering lamb a young shepherd is more than a mighty king
Did a man who has lost everything also relinquish his honour
And maybe it's a beginning towards a brighter future"
BlainEnoch 3 years ago
Oh, I just realised that the author's transcription continues...
"So how shall a man's worth be calculated? In happiness? Power? Age?
How much he has watched? How much he has bred?
An answer will be given to he who sees his life twice
Through his own and heaven's eyes
Therefore we shall share everything with you in scarcity and in abundance
Because what lies before you belongs to Mother Nature
Life can change when the winds blow
And sometimes you might stumble...

(Tzippora kicks Moshe's ass into the dancers circle)
"So how shall a man's value be measured?
Whether he worked or studied?
Nothing is seen through eyes of flesh and blood
But there's another pair of eyes
Look at life please look at them
Through heaven's eyes!"
