Wow...I dunno what to be more disgusted by: the guys saying this crap or the apparent lack of free speech in the UK. It's free speech for all or free speech for none, guys. That includes people who piss you off. It's the price you pay for freedom. I'm a (proud) Brit by birthright who lives in Canada & it makes me physically ill to think about this filth living in my much loved Great Britain.

I maintain that the problem is essentially religious extremism, but of course the government needs to take measured logical action to combat this problem. I do agree that it is a human problem and must be addressed as such. We should not dehumanize Muslims, but we cannot afford to condone their crimes and their unacceptable behavior either.

I don't see how this is a counter-argument in the first place, however I'm wondering whether or not you'd be pissed off if people from the country you lived in decided to invade your homeland, and kill (even if accidentally) innocent civilians. You're right about their position as religious zealots, but jailing them would put us on their level and not set a good example for anyone. It's funny how freedom of speech is only brought up when it serves one's own desires. It's not okay for a Danish cartoonist to make a dumb drawing of Muhammad, but it's totally okay to yell at soldiers who have no power over the policy making of the U.K.? The hypocrisy here is unreal. I don't think these demonstrators shouldn't be allowed to say these things, but certainly these types of groups are not conducive to true free speech.

If I may humbly disagree, I think you should not have the right to attack soldiers directly. Protest the army or the military in general, but the individual soldiers themselves come back with enough mental and psychological disorders, just for following orders, that they don't need direct attacks from anyone, and I think that's why the verdict was that way.
