Svetlana a POOR imitation ??? You've got to be joking !!! She´s way better..... And by the way, they look like the same because THEY DO THE SAME VARIATION !!!!! Ludmilla was too much expressive, Svetlana is more serious because this isn't a normal ballet, this is more character dance, a more serious dance. And Svetlana, is way better than Sylvie Guillem !!!

For me, she is a little too bouncy and happy. I like this variation when it's a little more demure, which doesn't necessarily mean frightening.

Guillem est la meilleure sans hésiter... techniquement zakharova danse plus petit et sous elle (les relevés...) bon elle est belle mais n'atteind pas la sublime Guillem beaucoup plus sensuelle et plastique moins ballerina

you don't have to think, Guillem as the surrealist preying mantis of classical ballet is so astonishing in this variation it's hard to beleive she is from this planet. This girl is cheery by comparison, not frightening.

I think in a Nureyev production frightening might be quite legit: but seriously, Guillem is frightening regardless of what she does because she is so exquisitely above mere technique it borders on disdain of anything merely mortal! In addition to which she has an astonishingly imperial air about her in her Raymonda, which further increases the impression. In fact the way she receives the applause at the end has not seen its like since Marlene Dietrich's live performances as a singer!

I know what you mean. Svetlana has a "showiness" to her dancing, bordering on musical theater type dance. Her face always registers the fact that it's a performance and that she's not a "real" character. It works in some cases, particularly her Don Quixote, but it's not a suitable interpretation for Raymonda (in my opinion).

Incidentally, she is also one of my favorite dancers. I just don't care for her here.

Semenyaka's is the noblest I've seen -- simple, magnificent, classical in a modern way. Guillem's is faisande, decadent. Zakharova's is nowhere.

Svetlana is a poor imitation of her illustrious

coach (Ludmilla Semenyaka), in this role. In fact, she's (gasp) imitating her teacher. She just doesn't have the stage gravitas or variety in "Raymonda" that Semenyaka had. And Sylvie completely changed the

point of the choreography - but that was how she did things. At least Sylvie is herself in everything she does.

Zakharova is definately not good at all, very ordinary.

But Gulliem dances a sexy Spaniard in Raymonda, this is not pleasure to watch,

because the music is so beautiful , but not Spanish. All Silvie lacks in Raymonda is castanietts and a cigarette.
