The question is simple, you said Cuba chose another way. How do you know? What election data can you point to? You can't.
Think of the best president you've ever lived under. Then think what it would be like to have him for 50 years. Then think about the WORST president you've had. And think about having him for 50 years. It would be enough for you to get on a raft and risk your life crossing a shark infested body of water, I'm sure.
I agree. The Cuban people would undoubtedly benefit, and it would be nice to show a country thats heard unending negative propaganda about the US, that our normal everyday people have the same wants and needs as them. Let our governments head out to a deserted island somewhere and straighten out their differences on their own. Besides, I'd love to try some of that Havana Cuba Rum!
I get the feeling that, when it comes to Cuba, perhaps all you are interested in is what you (and other US citizens) can consume. Such a typical response, along with Cuban Cigars, Cuban Women, the old Chevys, yada yada yada. What about concern regarding Cubans' lack of human rights, as documented by a number of watchdog groups, including Amnesty International. The video poster certainly doesn't address this important point.
Actually, I believe that people are eventual products of thier environments. If the doors open, and the hoards of tourists are allowed to intermingle, bringing money, friendship, ideas, hope, and oportunity, quality of life will inevetably improve. History shows, the in the end, it is not the government that rules the masses, but at the least a comprimise. Piss on the governments. Let the people form a union and be heard.
Actually the same human rights groups list the U.S. among the nations of human right violaters. We have no moral ground to stand on in regards to human rights.
Thank you for insulting me; you seem like a very angry person. Were you enslaved in some way? And on what basis do you contend that that is the reason everyone leaves Cuba? In order, the top twelve countries sending immigrants in 2006, by country of birth are: Mexico, China, People's Republic, Philippines, India, Cuba, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Vietnam, Jamaica, South Korea, and Guatemala. Would you support a trade embargo against all those countries?
By proportion there are more Cubans in the U.S. than any of those countries you mention. And yes there are tens of thousands of Cubans that were enslaved. Do yourself a favor and research the Cuban UMAP labor camps. There's actually an organization of former UMAP slaves in the U.S.

Preclude other sovereign nations from making different choices?!
At what point did the Cuban nation make the "choice" of dictatorship?
