  • I'll find a day to massacre them all,

And raze their faction and their family,

The cruel father and his traitorous sons,

    To whom I sued for my dear son's life;

And make them know, what 't is to let a queen

Kneel in the streets and beg for grace in vain. —

  • This film = Stephen King meets "Hannibal Rising", by way of "The Godfather"

  • Titus Andronicus is no judge of character - he's too unbending.

  • No man should look that sexy in makeup <3

  • the modern themes sort of irritate me. impeccable acting though.

  • tamora getting that blk wang .. rofl

  • This has got to be the weirdest movie I have ever seen.

But The Nostalgia Critic put it on his Top 20 Favorite Movies, so Im checking it out

  • Hmmm, Shakespeare meets Fellini (with a touch of De Palma) but a visually stunning film - thanks for posting!

  • u know it would have occured to me that tamora might be pissed that her eldest son was killed cause the goths were conquered and might try to kill people

  • @Ryu7490 And Titus might be pissed that 21 of his sons were killed.

  • I love that she used Big Band type music for the decadent parts of the flick. Effen' perfect when you consider the levels of excess!

  • Holy decadence, Batman!

  • So Saturninus finds out that Lavinia and Bassainus love each other? That is why he accuses Bassainus of being a trainor?? Because he ran away with Lavinia.

But Saturninus had fallen in love with Tamora and stoopped cariing about Lavinia ....

I'm only just reading this play, so if i seem a bit ingorant I'm sorry.

  • yeah, but when Titus kills Lavinia at the end, any dunderhead can tell that Saturninus still loved her a bit. that's why he was so distraught.

  • @RichySKing

saturninus, as emperor, has the power to take any bride he wishes, and titus, as a soldier, sees it as his first duty (and that of his sons) to obey the emperor in all things. saturninus and titus both judge bassianus to be a traitor for his refusal to give in to his emperor's wishes and cease courting lavinia, even if the emperor's wish is unjust and selfish.

  • Even in the 1600s they had to fill in a minority quota. LOL

  • @fafafanta

    Thats Marc Almond, not Manson.

  • a love day...

but Timora has love only for Aaron, not Saturninus... poor chap

  • Is this the 1999 film version?

  • Lange's great in this.

  • thanks so much for posting this, you saved my english grade lol

  • Why didn't Lange opt for a British accent for this film?

  • You don't need a British accent to do Shakespeare. It's the acting and delivery of the poetry that's important.

  • Also, the English accents are used by the Romans. Lange is a Goth. It could very well be her way of setting Tamora apart from the others by speaking in a different accent. Pardon me if her sons have English accents in the film. I haven't watched far enough into it yet and didn't pay attention to their accents from their earlier lines.

  • What is the significance of Saturnine's dramatic pallor?

  • i don't know, but he's a man who knows how to dress for success (he's also hot)

  • Yah, I'd do Saturninus. I'd do him so hard. Sorry, I just got done watching Silence of the Lambs.

  • wheres 5! i wanna see the rest!

  • Sorry - I'm still combining them - used to have them on here in 5 minute segments, and it annoyed the living crap outta me. :P Sorry for the inconvenience. :(
