Goldsmith was simply a genius. He used the orchestra perfectly, and managed to use synths in a way that didn't sound tacky. His musical output in terms of volume multiplied by the heaps of talent and effort that went into each score makes him, in my mind, one of the greatest composers ever.
I love this score though I never cared for this all-electronic arrangement...I think Goldsmith wrote it asa concert piece kind of like Williams used to do for the Star Wars scores. The synth sounds great with orchestra though.
