I cannot believe what some people will say for a dollar. i have the braun and they dont cut AND YOU KNOW IT... a rotary norelco cuts because they operate on a different system I have BOTH... Your in the pocket of the corporations my man. nothing is worse on this planet THEN A DISHONEST REVIEW where the person stands there and says A BUNCH OF CRAP that they know is wrong. The cleaning fluid is simply rubbing alchohol with trace lubricant like lectric shave in it.. check my REAL review!!!
@MrMexicanZombie the braun type foil shavers ARE for girlie skin--thats why they make them....youve got it reversed...they dont cut but they vibrate alot against your skin without irritating it much. anybody that uses a foil shaver either hardly needs to shave,, shaves constantly,, OR DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK. the quality of the braun is unbelievable BUT THEY DONT CUT
i once used an electric razor when i was like 12. terrible. wet shave since then. really want the best shave of your life? straight edge (cut throat) shave. grow up and shave like a man.
hey guys!for all of ya wondering if arcitec is any good i gotta say it's pretty damn good.pros:if your hair grows all in different directions-works well, neck area no probs, battery life-almost a month(i use it every other day),washable under tap water.cons:trimmer plain sucks, cleaning fluid is expensive(well at least here in moscow).i used to use brown as well and wanted to upgrade but got arcitec a s a present.not bad at all.just one tip-dont let your hair grow too long otherwise it wont do it.
tried my dads philips 1050x and it felt a lot like what my face feels like 12 hours after shaving with my DE razor. which I decided i didn't want one for x mas. I was then thrown a box from under the tree from my mom with a receipt to take my present back :(
i have the same razor as you and it does indeed perform horribly. im trying the arcitec next, its a phillips product which makes me a bit apprehensive but ive heard good things about it. cheers
The Braun seems to be getting better reviews than the Arcitec, and i would stay away from Phillips after this crappy expirience - just a fair warning.
really? im at quite a loss to find an ideal razor. does the braun have a new model currently competitive with the new phillips model? i ve almost made up my mind to not purchase another phillips just because of the poor results recieved from the xl but I m now embarking on a thorough research campaign in order to find the friendliest razor. thanks for the response, it is much appreciated, take care.
I beleive this is their most recent shaver, check their website. The most helpfull resource i found was the Amazon reviews for the shavers, the Braun ones are MUCH more positive than any Phillishave product.
Best of luck, be sure to tell me how the shaver is!
alright, i certainly will but i think it might be a month before i make my final decision. thanks for the info and review references, Im just not too sure about the foil design as opposed to the 3 disc head of the one im currently using. I think i will give it a go though....
well, i went with the arcitec phillips and its not so bad. a few aspects that first come to mind are the closeness the circular blade heads are to the rubber base as compared to the other phillips models. this reduces irritation greatly. another important difference that i ve discovered is that i dont wash my face before shaving anymore, unless my face is unusually dirty but in that case i usually wait until later to shave. this enables, ithink, the natural oils of your face to lube the blades.
cont... so im not 100 percent elated about the razor but it is considerably better than any of their other models and my skin probably wasnt meant for shaving or facial hair it seems. overall though my irritations have been reduced by 75% and when i do get irritations its mostly do to the hair above my lip causing a mild reddness even before i begin shaving. but the arcitec certainly causes less irritation than the speed xl would have in those same circumstances. take care and cheers from s.d.
@pengll45 very uncomfortable to the point that it irritates the skin. the most significant difference betwixt this model and the arcitec, the model i use now, is the blade disc area where the disc blade actually is set is made from a soft rubber whilst this model uses metal. I am pretty satisfied with the arcitec, take care
i recomend using the seriies 5 braun. its very nice and gets a close shave. it also has an adjuster button for the sensitivity. great i give it a 9 outta 1 to 10
