My main problem with a lot of "Hitchslap" style vids is that the uploaders only show what Hitch said and not what his opponent said, thereby removing reason from the equation and reducing the viewings to congratulatory hero-worship of Hitch. Christ Hitchens didn't leave Chris Hedges, the other speaker, speechless at all. This video is a cut-and-pasted collection of clips of Hitchens's speaking in a larger debate. Here is another clip that is a fair representation of both of them: ( /watch?v=re3d0hiM4EQ).
In that clip, Hedges accurately states that if religions were eliminated worldwide, fascists and other individuals with totalitarian leanings will simply find something other than religion to cloak themselves in. It solves nothing.

@fhgwdads05 Whilst the debate in its entirety did allow both participants to share fundamentally-equal points of view; the point of this video is to demonstrate that towards its conclusion, Hitchens did in fact leave Hedges "speechless". Hedges refused to respond, which, from where I come from, signifies defeat. At least at a baseline level.
But you are quite right, as is Hedges, that the abolition of religion wouldn't "solve" the problem of totalitarianism and so forth.
