  • no offence to this wonderfull video but it still pisses me off to this day that british people include australian and new zealanders as british when recounting history....please dont do it anymore......we are n.zers and aus...not british...the history books have done us such an injustice so please dont do it anymore!!....check the history of our forfathers who fought....we are not british...we are new zealanders and australians....no offence...just a fact...look at our victims!!

  • @MrBillybeetroot Well I don't call you British if that makes you feel better lol.

  • Its one thing to remember those that were forced to join up and sent to give the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country against a force of evil.

But its another altogether to join through choice and invade another country.

Im sorry but I just cant respect the soldiers of today at the level of those that died in the great wars. Its not the same thing. I know they do us a service by joining in the first place, but they choose to follow those orders. My grandfathers generation HAD TO.

  • @moonsugar1 I know, I agree with you completely on that one. The two world wars were (quite obviously) completely different from the ones that are being fought today.

  • What is the classical piece at the beginning of this video?

  • @joelm118 ........... Its Samuel Barber - Adagio For Strings =0)

  • @joelm118 . Hi, the music is Adagio for strings by Barber.

  • I see those old pictures and always wonder what happened to all that people ... many fell in the battlefield or as a consequence of it either or both physically and mentally ... but many went on with their lives, as well ... bearing pain and sacrifice of themsleves and the others ... once they were young and had dreams, they wanted to bve loved and love others ... LEST WE> FORGET those who lied down their lives for us - people they never knew.

  • My Grandfather fought at Verdun in the First World War. My father was too young for WWII but was involved in the Yangtse Incident just after it. My Grandmother worked at an armaments factory.

Why? Why do we fight ! Such a waste. Such a sadness

  • I shit you not, every night when my head hits the pillow i think of three things ......

    1) my daughters 2) the fallen soldiers 3) the poor bastards over seas fighting then i wish them all the best

  • Thank you.

  • Well done David, made me feel quite sad in remembering all those that we owe so much to
