  • wouldnt be plastic or metal better? i mean how the wood suppose to resist rain

  • Maintenance is the only way to keep anything up outside. Just with ply, it takes more time to paint and seal

  • and maby to longevity but for skatability plastic and metal aren't great. metal is to slippy and hard to land on when you slam and the noise is like annoying as hell and plastic just doesn't feel right to skate on :P

  • buy treated lumber or treat it yourself. painting it helps too...

  • what kind of wood should i use so theres no damage from the rain

  • Ideal would be skatelite. That is engineered to withstand the elements more, but anything outdoors will need maintenance, regardless of the material.

  • marine ply wont warp =]

  • nice one question though! Wat was the budget?

  • the transition and flat looks to small and tight.. Nice build but looks horrible to skate. (No offence)

  • MORE

    FLAT.

1/5. i'd be dissapointed if i paid somebody to build a ramp in my yad, and there was like, literally noflat.

  • how high was it 5ft?

  • 6 feet tall 10 foot radius

  • nice!!

  • you need more flat

  • omg thats insanely sick! do ppl pay u to build halfpipes in their yards?

  • thats not a halfpipe. thats a mini ramp.

  • nice but overdone

  • how is it over done????????????

  • hey guys,

i wanted to a miniramp but i have a question.

wat kind of wood should i use so that the wood does not get bad and break wen it rains?

    please reply, thanks

  • Materials were 2500

  • song??

  • rockefeller skank - fatboy slim

  • sweet but pallets a terrible idea if u think about it frame it up with 2x4's

  • pallets are for if you want to save some $ for the flat. the topsheets will tie them all together. Agree that new construction is best, though

  • Save money and time, use pallets for the flat bottom. Pallets can hold thousands of weight, and easily a couple skaters.

Spread the word, use pallets for your flat bottom. More ramps would be built if people understood this.

Check out my mini ramp vids on my youtube channel. All my 3 ramps where built with pallets, they are all solid. I've never had a hole in the flat bottom, no problem EVER!!!

Spread the word about pallets. Build more ramps, build them faster, build them cheaper!!!!!!!

  • Make sure the pallets are all the same depth!

Good call for saving money Sir Swedish Mike.

  • yeah for sure, they have to be the same height!

    Skate or die!!!

  • i want one will u build me one

  • no blueprint, no plan, I am a builder and just asked him what he wanted for dimensions.

  • how long did it take

  • Two days with about 8 people helping

  • whats the song

  • rockafeller skank - fatboy slim

  • lol!!! this was my fave. song when i was 2!!!

  • How much have this ramp cost? In materials?

  • materials = $2500

  • Hey, im thinking of making a halfpipe, but i dont wonna spend loads of money and screw up, so would i t be better to just find somone to make it or buy one ready made? also, what do you use to stop the wood being weather'd, thanks :)

  • holy crap, that radius is super shallow. and where's the flat? good halfer though.

  • 10 foot radius, 5 1/2 foot to the coping....

  • haha, that's crazy. can you catch air pretty good with it, or is it more of a giant miniramp?

  • Like a giant miniramp, too little flat bottom for set up

  • oh and one more :) what is thickness of plywood you used on the floor?

  • hmm have you planned everything by yourself? or maybe i can get some kind of "how to" compute everything (angles etc)

  • Southern Vermont

  • hey what kind of wood you used to make "floor" :) i want to build one ramp too :p

  • We used plywood with marine paint on it.

  • dude i wish my dad could build me a half pipe

  • how hard would it be to build an extension to it? and by extension I mean building like a second 5' drop onto about a 3'

  • anything is possible with wood. Just time and money.

  • lol....flat bottom anyone?

  • this is the best halfpipe I see maded on youtube!!

  • realy? i dont like it, looks realy whippy, theres no flat so it would be like your skating constant transition kinda like full pipe with no over vert :S good build tho

  • yeah, we realized too late that there wasn't enough flat. Made it so you had to think quick. We may extend the flat at some point.

  • that should be easy enough. i mean its prefectly good, i just prefer wide middle sections. ahah when you skated it the first time i thought that ply extension was guna snap. you should skin it up with some maisonite when you have extended it. make it nice and smooth ^^ your very lucky to have this in your garden btw :P

  • how much did this cost???

  • In 2003 it cost $3500.00. $2500 in materials and $1000 in Labor

  • how much did this cost???

  • rly nice...except on mine it costed way too much cuz i gave mine a wood perserver and i used a lot more supports...but yurs is still btr

  • to bad nobody can skate it!

  • yea for real im building mine right by the forest and ha im afraid of panthers, boar, not many bears in my area though

  • thats a nice half pipe. I want one!!! :D

  • how many days it take dude please?

  • one day with lot's of help

  • what is this song

  • Rockefeller Skank - Fatboy Slim

  • fark.., 2 jealous man!!!

  • forget about making one guys unless your handy at carpentry. I did this and I ended up with a piece of S##T. Go to RAILSLIDEdotCOM and they sell prebuilt steel frame ramps and ship for free and dont cost an arm and a leg

  • HOW MUCH DID IT COST U M8

  • an arm and a leg i think.., maybe a spleen

  • lol

  • dude, can u tell me how to make this one?I want to make one for bmx

  • unless you put masonite down, that thing is pretty much useless.

  • how much would it cost to make and how long would it take?

  • read the previous post

  • ik it weird but i actually like that song 4 some reason

  • how much did it cost, whats the surface made of, and why the fuck do you need two the same halfpipes?

  • I am the builder so, I don't need two the same. I need nothing. This one was built in Manchester Vermont, the other in Weston, Connecticut.

  • hey mate i envy your halfpipe, and where i live we gotta get a bus for like a hour to get somewere with a halfpipe. we are thinking of gettin a 2ft halfpipe like 6ft long for 400£ n splitting it tho i think making a 4ft one would be better =[ how much did it cost to get all the wood? and how hard was it got any tips? thanks for your time : D

  • cool half pipe me and my friends built ones and its pretty sweet took us like 15 hours to build

    whats the song?

  • That's about right for the time....

    Rockefeller Skank...Fatboy Slim

  • k thanks

  • okay thanx

  • dece but it doesnt have a big enough flat

i built a 6 foot halfpipe at my place but i gotta take it apart next summer na dput in some more support beams... i just built it out of shit i found in my backyard cause my adads a carpenter and i got him to bring extra or old shit home. but yeah how did u find the slope .... like did u juts wing it or did u actually measure it for the incline and shit?

  • Thanks, I measured the tranny using a string on a stick with a 10 foot radius. made one and then used it as a template for the rest. The flat bottom was way too small, I agree. We wanted to cut it in the middle and extend it another 6-8 feet.

  • wow that has a lot of flatt try skate light or masonight

  • Thanks for the suggestion

  • it just pisses me off seeing such terrible people w/ such a nice halfpipe, god!

  • what ply did u use

  • two layers of 1/2 inch exterior ply. Then the owner painted it a couple of weeks later with marine paint.

  • duh, that is why I said NO. It was painted later. this means there is no skatelite on it. because the owner knows that the sheets are expensive, and did not want to spend the dollahs on it. $150.00 x 20 sheets = $3000.00. Would have doubled the price of the ramp. duh

  • Is There any Skate Lite On The Ramp???

  • no it was painted later

  • were are the directions you got? can you send em to me?

  • how much was it to build

  • about $4000.00

  • how long did it take to build?

  • 1 day with all of the help you see in the vid

  • hi there!!! i am from Sweden if you wounder why may English is bad hahaha i am going to bullid a half pipe like yours.. and i wounder how big it is? how high it is? i would be very thankfull to you if you can tell me! thanks from Fredrik Boman

  • The coping is 6 (2 meters) feet. the transition is a 10 foot(2.75 meter) Radius. The deck is 3 feet(1 meter) wide. The flat bottom was too narrow on this, 8 feet (3 meters). It should be another 4-8 feet (1.25-2.5 meters) wide for comfortable riding. The whole thing is 24 by 24 feet (8 meters by 8 meters). Hope this helps

  • ye thanks!! for the info! have a nice day!

  • it slides better if u put a special kinda wood over the plywood, i forget wut the woods called, we used it on our halfpipe

  • yeah, it's called skatelite and it rocks!

  • or Masonite......

  • Fat Boy Slim - Rockefeller Skank

  • THIS IS WIKED

where the fuck u get all the bloody wood from??

  • The local Lumber dealer

  • Kool was it heard

  • quite small

  • yeah, we wanted to make the flat bottom bigger but never got around to it. It has a 6 foot tall coping and a 10 foot transition

  • how long did it take you guys?

  • Two days

  • thanks
