im playing this in a youth orchestra as well, on a cello. our conductor keeps yelling at the violins lolz. its fun to play, but haaaaaaarrrrrrrd. lol at least i dont play a violin.

there was really no tempo change

the stringendo at the end speeds up and there was none of that

There was rushing, you didn't stay together. You need more energy. Overall the performance wasn't bad but it wasn't great. That was not even tempo. Practice more please:)

the first violin bowing on this song drives me crazy. we have had the piece for about 2 weeks and still everyone in the first violin section has a different bowing pattern for most of the song. haha. but we will get it eventually.

First off, no dynamics what so ever... also, no one was together in the beginning and at the end....

It sounded good intonation wise, but it also needed a lot more work!

I am playing this in my HS orchestra (who just rocked at the Kansas Music Educators Assoc. performance and everyone said we were like collegiate level. yeah we're the ones to beat!) and I love it! Good job but def play it faster. and TheThiefInYourHead, he BASED it off the music he wrote between 9 and 12 but he actually wrote it when he was 20. trust me, i just did a paper on him :)

this is my fav movement of simple symphony. you did pretty well but you sometimes teh intonation was a little off. this peice is soo fun to play! were playing it in my orc class and we sound pretty beast. plus were only in 8th grade!

Well they did well, but there were a few places where it fell apart. Be careful cellos in the very beginnin where you pizz the offbeats, it wasn't very well together and that caused the violins to get off a little but. The entrance was all right, but it could have been better, overall good job.

Varsity just started this song for UIL last week here at my school. We've pretty much got the basics down...it isn't too hard.

but good lord this is sooooo slow!!! haha. Aside from the violins' irksome higher notes as well as the violas little entrance it sounds pretty good.

Shifting is murder when you go fast, though.

Surprising, because I am actually a musician who is playing in an orchestra doing Simple Symphony.....but for all the movements. This movement is actually my favorite, except a huge flaw at 0:43 to 0:57, 1st violins came in two beats late. Nevertheless, an all right performance. Not terrible, but ok for the most part. :)

lol I don't hear it there. The biggest messup I hear in the first violins is at about 1:15. There was some bad intonation and a little bit of disorder haha

Very simple. This orchestral piece is not very elaborate-the way it starts with fifths and fourths (inverted fourths) makes it not very elaborate. It sounds like the orchestra is tuning rather than playing. It gets a little more elaborate in "development" (used vaguely) when the key changes from d minor to D Major. (Even that shows a lack of creativity.) But great performance!

my orchestra is performing all four movements of the simple symphony, and everyone else thinks the sentimental saraband is the best, and it's great, but this is my fave. i think this orchestra may be playing at a tiny bit faster tempo, but it still seems like we're playing pretty damn fast lol. anyway wish me luck! i'm a viola by the way....
