That's the same Ibanez I have! Except I changed the tailpiece and bridge.

I dont know if you're familiar with RHCP, but when they recorded this song, John Frusciante was in charge of writing the guitar parts, and he is known for not using complicated guitar parts. I think the guitar track fits this song perfectly, it doesnt need to be over the top.

A real amazing guitarist can write an amazing sounding song that is ridiculously easy to play. overly complicating things doesn't make you a good guitarist just a skilled one. Look at Jimi Hendrix, He's said to be the greatest guitarsist of all time and is his stuff over complicated, no he just played and let it flow out and it sounded amazing. Its something called feeling and thats what makes an amazing guitarist
