During the late 70s and 80s it became popular to mod amps much like guitars. There were a handful of guys around the time who were great at it and many of them started to make their own branded amps such as Saldano.

Many guitar players used what looked like stock Marshalls such as Slash, Wylde, and Van Halen but they sounded nothing like a stock Marshall.

I would love to learn to build my own amp head from Mojo or something and mess with different parts. Hopefully without blowing it up.

@jorual10 I think part of that has to do with the pickups, a lot of stock Les Paul pickups have Alnico 5's and Slash uses Alnico 2's which have less output and a warmer transfer characteristic.

@petelebu Slash's sound was/is shrill, but you have to remember that his sound is only a part of the finished product (an album). Slash's top-end kinda sound, combined with izzy's more mid focused sound and Duff's bass, that was to me the "proper" AFD sound. So if you think "big picture" you'll see why Slash's sound sounds so good mixed together with the other instruments on the albums he's been a part of.

@Foofyter The take is wothout delay. The Delay comes from the Cubase Sosftware. The level of mix is very tiny but it is nice the sensation it produces...

Hey is it true that when you play powerchords or something like that on the low E string in AFD mode it sounds ''kinda muffed and not too good'' when you mute?

@acsteve427 The bias is set adjustong the Knob you have on the rear panel just where the LEDS of the Power Tubes. You have to read the manual to see wich is the current needed dependign on the type of Tubes you use.

Not indeed. I am using a couple of 1960HWB. It came with G12H Speakers but I changed by V30 because I prefer the sound coming form V30.

@raosc70 This is a difficult question because both of them sound very nice. Probably using greenback speakers the sound is mor similar to AFD Record.

Using V30 the sound is closer to the last records.

I like both speaker cabinets.

@raosc70 Well... Greenback Cab is more opened, more middier and the response comes inmmediatly. V30 Cabs is more tight with more low end and more highs.

@diablo9333 All the models has the same color. Everything depends on the light. The flamed mapel top has to see too. As much flmed it is more darker looks.

With greenbacks the sound is very good. The bass response is more tight. I use a copule of 4x12" with V30 Speakers on them with my band and it really sounds very good too.

Sounds 100% better with greenbacks than it does with V30's. Slash should use greenbacks with his AFD's. I hate the tone with V30's

Hi Jmklmnop, There is no versatility on this amp. Is single channel head with two selectable modes. AFD and 34#. Both are slightly differente. 34# has less gain and is a bit more trebled than AFD. AFD mode is high gain, more compression and middled channel. No clean Channel available.
