  • What I want to know is how they expected the desk to fit through the door with the legs attached. How they even got it into the door with the legs on is totally beyond me.

  • haha,OZ and The Wire were the best tv series ever....And so many actors from OZ are in Wire-Daniels,first undercover cop, then prisoner,Bodie-little nigger punk,Carver-first C.O,then crazy prisoner who killed Daniels, then black guy who leads Carcettis campagne,Busmalis-FBI agent in Wire,Herc-Italian prisoner Ralph Galino...Method Man also

  • Herc was always dumb

  • Thats awesome! I LMF'nAO everytime i watch it!!!

  • I didn't get it when I first watched it. I love that there are so many layers of symbolism to uncover in this show: the chess game trope that D'Angelo introduces in Season 1, and Bodie completes in Season 4 ("the king stay the king" and "we like those bitches on a chessboard.....pawns"), the many ways in which the cop outsider McNulty parallels the drug dealer outsider Stringer (both foreign actors, strong bromances, both are gifted at their jobs but neither is a people-person, etc.)

  • I dint get it at first than....THEIR ALL PUSING IT IN ONE DIRECTION

    -->DESK<--

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • I dont get it whats so funny?? about this.. the white bald guy wants the desk in the door and the other guys on the other side thought he wanted it out?

  • This is great xD

  • Classic life moment. "I'm gonna shoot the drawers off this bitch"..... Hahahaha. And just what makes this show brilliant, the understated subtlety.

  • Lester, Bunk and Omar are my three favourite characters of this show

  • In this scene, Lester is THE man !! hahaha ! I love this character so much

  • @thesuperJFJ - One side is pushing it one way, to get it in, the other pushing the other way, to get it out...in other words, they are pushing against one another and are therefore not moving it.

Many have interpreted this scene as symbolic of the police's plight, that is, two sides trying to accomplish something but going at it in conflicting ways and therefore not accomplishing anything.

  • Herc wants it one way............but its the other way.

  • @premier46 hahah awesome

  • @premier46 nicely done

  • i love the wire, escpeially for this scenes......

  • Cool Fuckin' Lester Fuckin Smooth.

  • I love how Lester just sits there

  • LOL

  • press 7 to make the midget under the table suck it

  • unbefuckinglievable should be added to the oxford dictionary

  • So Herc was holding those guys off by himself? Sydnor moved to the other side, so at least he would feel some force coming the other way...

    "On three, motherfuckers!!"

  • "Un-be-fuckin-lievable" lol

  • @Varanesia75 - Your interpretation below is a compelling and thoughtful one. Keep them coming. Pay no mind to simpleminded idiocy.

  • I always saw this scene as highlighting a total lack in communication. As Freamon is representative of us, the audience, he watches as the guys just pile in and do what each of them think individually what the next is doing without consultation. A parallel to what goes on in that department. Total genius from David Simon!

  • I think this scene symbolizes a comedic reliefe in an otherwise serious series.

  • Dumb Herc.

  • @1986Martinez the joke is, there pushing it outward, where he reveals in the end, that he was trying to get it in.

  • @goceltics339 Thank you

  • @1986Martinez they were pushing from either side, so they couldn't move it because they were actually pushing against each other. if that makes sense.

  • wait..i dont get it..are they supposed to pull it in instead

  • roflmao until dying

  • i, too am embarrassed for y'all

  • the first time i watched this ep i was so stoned i nearly wet myself laughing.quality show

  • says a lot about how strong herc is

  • awesome

  • I would feel like such a dumbass

  • At this rate we're never going to get it in..!

    IN?!

  • it's about action vs. communication

  • herc is a fucking dumbass. he was the guy who fucked up everything!

-he ignored bubbles which led to bubbles getting his ass kicked AGAIN which led to him getting angry which led to Sherod's death.

-herc snitched to Levy which made Levy find out the police used an illegal wiretap which led to Marlo getting out free. mothafucka i wanted him dead!

  • @billma12345 and he fucking snitched out Randy which led to his foster mother dying and him being fucked up in a group home

  • @billma12345 lol it's just a tv show

  • @billma12345 yeah, but he gave carv marlo's number in the first place, leading to the wire tap, huge drug bust and putting and marlo's lieutenants and chris in jail...

  • It's a metaphor for the entire series.

  • It's funny, this is the only scene in the entire series that didn't have any effect on the plot in any way. This and the first scene of the first episode.

  • @chavedappelle

I think this scene symbolizes taking two groups (the detectives and the suits) expending tremendous energies to accomplish a goal (reduce crime), yet they are coming at it in conflicting directions (long term via wire vs. short term rips/"stats"), and in doing so, their efforts negate one another and in effect they frustratingly accomplish nothing (crime ensues).

  • @TJH3123 That's legit. Every scene is dripping with symbolism.

  • @TJH3123 mind = blown

  • @TJH3123

I never saw it that way before (and I've seen The Wire about 3 times); great analogy TJH.

  • @TJH3123 Yeah, I think it was just supposed to be funny.

  • @TJH3123 And the sun and flowers outside, fighting against the insects do to... Its a scene meant for comic relief. Any further thought... please, shut up

  • @TJH3123 Wow. Nice catch.

  • @TJH3123 hahaha clever allegory innit

  • i don't get it

  • @pockmarkedbuttocks herc and daniels are pulling the desk in, but mcnulty and carver are also pulling the desk but in the opposite direction. herc never said which he needed them to do, so they assumed to pull and were canceling each other out.lol

  • @laurzadoll - thanks. i get it now :-)

  • @laurzadoll, actually it's the other way around, lol. Herc, looked as though he was pulling, but he was actually lifting and pushing, but his hands were positioned as though he was pulling. This caused Carver to assume he was pulling in, which is why Carver pushed from the other side, when the others joined in this effect just repeated itself. So basically they were both pushing against each other rather than pulling. It also explains why the table went up in the air-tensile motion.

  • Freeman thought balloon, "You seldom see that level of stupid outside of boot camp."

  • Un-be-fucking-leavable

  • Anybody hear McNulty's "In?"

Sounded a bit British if I could reckon.

  • How many cops does it take to move a desk? It depends on whether they are working with or against each other.

  • My ass is kicked

  • what is this ??? i want to see it .

  • @SERVER1992 an hbo series called "the Wire" its a great show and recommend to watch it from beginning to end (there 5 seasons)

  • @tvdeskscreen alright thankyou for telling me .

  • "one... two... you know what to do!"

    "unbe-fuckin-lievable!"

  • Comment removed

  • " Yo Herc I catch my breath I'm a shoot the drawers off this bitch." LOL

  • Herc may be just about the dumbest motherfucker in this entire series.

  • lester is a fucking cunt in this scene.

"some men just like to see everything burn" alfred..lol.

  • @slimithy12 yeah man but i love that he's a cunt! that's part of why it's so funny!!

  • 1 2 u no wat 2 do lmaoo

  • This is hilarious!!!! One of my favs

  • World-class shit-eating grin on Lester @ 2:16

  • He doesnt say a word ahah

  • 1:57.5-1:58...look at that guy's face hahhahha

  • haha! metaphore. what!?

  • the scene is a medphor on how even though they are all cops, they are both on the same sides but all work against each other and thats why shit never gets through

  • they were both pushing oposite ways lol

  • 3rd law of motion

  • Lester was the Smartest Character on the show, The smartest one in the whole Squad Lester discovered bodies in the vacant houses, solved murders, he found Avon Barksdale Photo for them, he got the Phone Number from the Crack house wall

    He was NATURAL POLICE.

  • LESTER!

  • I don't get it

  • @billuvill Really?! okay... some of the cops were trying to push it in the room while the others who where on the other side was trying to push it out of the room. So basically they all were pushing the desk against each other instead of pushing/pulling it in one direction.

  • @billuvill lol billuvill is another Herc

  • clip missed the punch line out

  • @mfed84

why you apologizing? nobody's feelings are hurt

  • roflmfao!!!!!

  • Does this foreshadow Herc's role in derailing the Marlo/Greek investigation?

  • Unbefuckinglievable. Period.

  • unbefuckinglievable

  • loool herc is such a dumb motherfucker

  • none of these dumb ass cops asked which way it was goin....lmao

  • @edro316 that's because it was understood that the desk was coming out by everyone except Herc

  • The Wire's full of great little mini-parables like this; both sides pushing and getting nowhere. I'm emba'ssed for y'all.

  • @Elcore They are police officers what did u expect xD

  • i'd forgotten about this scene; i need to see series 1 again. all sides pushing - the wire, the best

  • Lester was just sitting in his little chair and enjoying those 4 working the shit out of that desk xD

  • This was the greatest FUCKIN show ever! The writers and characters were perfect. The look on Freamon's face is priceless watchin these retards push against each other.

  • they all was pushing it duuuuuuuuuuuh!

  • im aware of that.

what im saying was the people on one side of it were pushing it in the office. the people on the other side were pushing it out, therefore getting nowhere. one guy was on one side thinking it was being pushed into the office and then moved to the other side. if he thought the object was to get the desk in the office, then he would not have then been pushing it out. he should have been puling, and subsequently asked wth carver was doing. he shouldve figured it out.

  • @gloxkk ha haa haa me to

  • sooo.sydnor is on one end pushing it in....then daniels tells him to go on the other side...to which sydnor goes to the other side and pushes it out and doesnt pull it in?

shouldnt he have figured it out being on both sides?

  • @timeforaction he probably pushed because he figured daniels' side was gonna be pulling

  • During the silence after "At this rate were never gonna get it in", I was hoping for a "thats what she said". Funny nontheless :P

  • Pure Fucking Genius....

  • Freamon was just watching them fools at work...funny as shit

  • 1.....2..... you know what to do. ROFL!!!

  • IF u dont get the joke then there really is no hope for you. I suggest a bottle of whisky, some sleeping pills and a noose.

Seriously if u cant figure it out just top urself right now.

  • @Sneezlebob because one thought they were taking it out the room so he pushed forward and the other thought they putting it in the room so he pushed forward so thats why it didnt move

  • they were both pushing from each side :l haha

    and 'unbefuckinglevable' haha

  • I love how Daniels walks away in disgust!!

  • And Freamon is laughing his ass off.

  • Un-be-fucking-lievable, LOL!

  • The "Christ" sighed at the end is just priceless

  • ahahhaha CHRIST !

  • they were both pushing on each side instead of one pushing and one pulling.

  • Did anyone get the metaphor of this situation?

  • funny scene

  • lol both sides pushes against eachother

  • LOL. I almost fell from my chair when i first saw this.

    "In!?"

  • "I could move it a bit when I was alone."

    LOL

  • Dude...that is classic stupid. Cant even give them the 'ty.'

  • that shit is tight..........no doubt!!!!!

  • Herc was a simple mother fucker man, too funny!

  • who the guy that walks in at 00:38??

  • Sydnor, another detective

  • Lt. Daniels! =]

  • unbevfuckinleivable

  • yea this part had me rollin

  • damn i didnt remember herc had hair bac then, man i loved this show, it was so real i dont think they can ever make another show like this

  • i memba dis, season 1, season 2 finale tonight on bbc2

  • lester knows fucking everything, love the man

  • "His name is head, dick head."

  • LOOOOOOOOL

  • brilliant.

i know guys like these and this is honesty, hon! strong like prizefighters, pushing against each other!

I'm with you DesWombat32 - full respect to Herc!

  • IN...

  • "yo herc, i catch my breath, im gon shoot the drawers of this bitch" - Carver

  • What I don't get is why he didn't just tell them that in the first place???

  • one, two, you know what to do....lol

  • lol

  • Credit to Herc for being strong enough to resist the combined strength of three police.

  • yeah hahaha

  • lmao

  • one thing I just realized though...Sydnor goes on both sides. Shouldn't he realize what's going on? Still hilarious though.

  • maybe he was pushing it but the other two overpowered him

  • Sydnor's face is the funniest part 1:57

  • LOLLLLL

  • They were pushing the desk against each other rather than one way.

  • Baltimores finest.

Although most of them become good police in the end (everyone except herc)

  • In the words of the great Clay Davis - "Sheeeeeeiit"

  • lol they probably could do with his help

  • Nice metaphor of police work...

  • Sydnor was pulling the desk 1st then switched to pushin :P

  • I love how Lester is being the silent observer throughout the whole thing.

  • Lester is the Bester.

  • hahaha!

    this shit was funny!

  • in!?!?

  • Funny, but Sydnor should have known because he changed over to Carver's side.

  • I can't count how many times I've seen this sequence and I never thought about that. Nice catch!

  • Doesn't really matter, as it all depends on if he was pushing or pulling, he looks to be pulling in the first position he has :)

  • Well, duh Sydnor was pushing first then he was pushing again from Carver's side, hence me saying he should have known, are you related to Herc or something? lol

  • No, what I'm saying is that he looks to be pulling first, then probably pushing from the other side. So what I'm saying is that it doesn't matter what side he's on, what matters is what way he thought the desk should go :)

  • ahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Unbefunkinlievable Show!!!

  • Great scene, gotta love The Wire. Great metaphor for how the policing system as a whole pull in different directions instead of working as one.

  • The Wire kicks ass.

  • I catch my breath, I'm a shoot the drawers off this bitch.- Carver LOL

  • i was already laughing when carver came in lol.

  • carver went from pushing in from 1 side 2 pushing out on the other i'm confuse

  • lol!!he had them thinkin it goin out by it was going in!!LOL!!!the desk wasnt stuck they were all pushing it!!LOL!!that was really pointless!!

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!! lol!!! I thought that was the reason!

  • haha! I always think about this scene when I'm at work. People wonder what the hell i'm smiling about!

  • ONE...TWO...YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO

  • opposing forces, idiots!!! the guy act the desk allows them to make a fool of themselves...classic veteran.

  • Ummm...the guy at the desk is a genius! You need to watch the series before you make that comment balling!! hehe
