Er....no, I don't see it at all. Each S.Link is NOT supposed to effect the game at all what-so-ever except during: A) Social Events B)Aigis's social link (Changes the ending of the game). Each one is supposed to be instanced, and each relationship Minato has is though he did not have one with the previous.

It's done from the perspective of a game point a view, a way to get more then one max S.Link and the persona that comes with it, not a drama.

The Social Links always end up giving you something "Symbolic" of their relationship, whether it's a gift or in Tanaka's case, a letter about him donating to charity before he tells you to bugger off.

The only useful things about said items is that it's what lets you make your Max Social Link Personas in the second playthrough.
