I heard from a FedEx employee here on YT that the're going to start liquidating there 727s starting in Febuary or March of 2011, but they should still be flying at the VERY MOST middle to late 2012. Not sure about the relability of this iinformation but i could probably check it.
He said that there becoming more expensive to fuel and maintain them, so there going to start selling them off (no idea to who)
@umahuma4 Well unfortunately, phasing out has already begun. Fedex has already retired many of their 727s. However, not all of them are expected to be out of service until 2016.
Very nice. I rated it a 4, but I meant to rate a 5. Definitely a beautiful catch. I love 727's, but I haven't seen one in service in like six or seven years now.

they are phasing them out for the 757, not as fuel efficient and loud as hell.

It will be hard to see them let go of "Jonathan" (N203FE). 727s are my favorite and that one has my name on the nose.
