When my Beagle was a puppy (I was 8 when I got her) we just let her outside all day and at night we put her inside the house and lay out newspapers near her bed side if she needs to 'go'. We've been doing this for years (I'm 14 now.) She doesn't have a problem at all, she knows to pee and poop on the newspapers laid out for her. So I guess designated areas to pee n stuff work too..

@HowdiniGuru I have a 8month old pup almost turning 9 this Feb. Through the winter season it would be too cold to take her out so we bought the indoor fake grass. At first she was really good at doing her business on the grass both peeing and pooping we even take her out to do her business aswell. But she is recently slipping into bad habits peeing on the carpet instead even though I took her out,she's good at pooping on the fake grass but always misses it when peeing.Can you give me any advice?

I am potty training with my 13 week old pup and she just will not get the hang of it! She does go outside at a certain spot, but she goes inside as well just as often. Sometimes when we take her to her potty spot, she'll "pretend" to go by squatting but not actually going and then acts like she doesn't have to go. Then when we bring her in, she'll eliminate inside! Any advice?

I've had many dogs in my whole life but i dont remember potty training to be hard , i chose a dog for my mom coz i knew he was the one he was only 2 months and never peed in home he holds it until we go out .. And in past a 3 Mnth old rottie never peed in home

I have 2 problems, my puppy, a female Alaskan malamute doesn't want any treats outside, she'll eat it only if we are at home, and she doesn't want to walk out from our flat, I have to carry her, but when we get out it's OK for her to walk and run and play.

my beagle is 17 months old, shes really smart, but i've had her for 8 months and always do everything the same way when i take her out..... and she STILL randomly pees/poops in certain spots, she shows almost no signs (except going upstairs, where she poops/pees in my moms room) and sometimes cant even hold it for an hour. i take her out, she pees, then and hour later she pees on the floor!

Im getting a chihuahua on January 15th (my dad's friend has a puppy she wants to give away) but i cant always be around him, since i have school, and my parents cant help either since they have work. So, im thinking about using potty pads. But the thing is, do the pads REALLY attract puppies? Videos say thats true, but im not sure. And i want to do the best for my chihuahua. And, i heard from a vet that chihuahuas wont go potty outside if its too cold or hot, so thats not an option for me.. :(

@roblox1220 umm, yes? you cant keep an animal outside 24 hours a day, thats cruel. what about in the winter when its freezing, or the middle f summer when its extremely hot?

My puppy is almost 3 mo. I have to take her out to pee every 2.5 hrs. even during the night. It used to be every 45 minutes! I'm tired and haven't slept an entire night since I adopted her and can't wait till she sleeps at least 5 hrs during the night.

I'm a retired widower, and my grandkids think I need a puppy for a companion. After they administered the quiz, I passed and they said the Soft coated wheaten terrier was the one. I'm supposed to get it for Christmas. Your 10 part series was a good up date preparation for me.

When I was a boy we got a dog to help me establish "responsibility" as a young married without children we got a dog to establish "commitment and responsibility" now I'm alone it's keeping me from being "committed."I hope

I just got a yellow lab she is the cutest thing. I am trying to housebreak her so everytime i catch her in the act of doig her business i raise my voice and tell her " NO, BAD GIRL!" then i rush her outside and then by the time i get outside she dosent want to go, so i bring her back in and SHE GOES!! again....this had happend for the last 3days that i have owned her. great video and right on. all positive reinforcement. I wish these videos would mention the harms and mistakes people do, by punishing their puppies for eliminating in the home, when you don't see them do it. Never rub their nose in it.

There are tens of thousands of puppies of all breeds on petfinder that need homes, please adopt or foster. as long as people are buying dogs, great ones die everyday

my shih tzu goes to one place away from our house just to go potty! once he got away and he went to his potty place and after that he walk right back to me :) Shih tzu's are not hard to train and i started training him at the age of 4 years old! he taught him self to get him a potty spot.

@bluevioletHusky mine is the same way! (also a shih tzu) my sister sometimes takes her out for walks in this park next to our house. she never runs away or gets too far. she was way easier to train then my cocker spaniel. he only wants the treats :D

its hard to train my puppy Milton... he is a Boston bull terrier and is a little but head. i love him but he is to hyper. he only listens if we have a treat. and my mother said if we let him go we cant have other pets. he is about 3 months old. i still have faith in him. and all he knows so far is sit stay and lay down. my mom is thinking about obedience school... but im not sure if he will control his energy.

Me and my sister are going to school in two days and im getting him either tommorow or monday and i need someone to take care of him but my mom said a dog walker is expensive but i have a neighbor that has the same breed. @evalowlihua First, you can show him that is cage is a great place, give him treats and praise when he goes in it and pratice for short period of time when the door is close before extend for longer period. A girl on youtube name Kikopup give a lot of information and tips for those things. ( She's using a clicker. You are not forced to use one : just saying YES is okay ) I hope I helped you ^^
