  • I love this song and what a great voice! There's a version on sale with John Tams and a military band raising money for regimental charities - Over the Hills is the b-side to Love Farewell. You can buy it on the riflesdirect website.

  • wow.. teary eyes and goosebumps.. legend!

  • @manniemonmon how many men has Hagman killed on screen? 50?....100??

I think Arnold Schwarzeneggers record is about 100...Sly Stallones about 200.

John Tams is probably up there with them.

  • he still has it, even after a career as massive as his

  • What a song!!!Patriotic as fook.If any Scotsman still wants to go it alone after watching the patriotism of that man then PLEASE wake up.RULE BRITANIA

  • if you were to die in uniform and you were aware that he would sing this at your burial service it would help with the pain.he should sing this in the rememberance day service.alfie boe tried it this year.John Tamms will show him how

  • @dh7755 You are very right in your sentiment it is a beautiful patriotic song to all the countries of this great nation the scots had mcduff lennox the irish had harper that spy guy the english sharpe himself the welsh are not as well represented sadly your suggestion of REMEMERANCE day would prob not be approp as the REMEMBERANCE service is only for our losses from the 1st world war i think.?. this is sad if true as many millions went before and should be remembered!!!!!!

  • If this isn't a reason to take pride in being British I don't know what is?

  • @JudgeBuddha Right on, its not about politics really is it? its about being British and standing for what is right. bless all our troops now and in the past, they are/ were our defenders of what is right.

  • John Traviss, I loved that comment, bit of paraffin and best brown paper and "me rifle's as dry as a bone sir" A cracking song.

  • This has to be one of the most powerful, evocative songs ever. John Tams has made it his own.

  • I saw this at Shrewsbury this year, Truly, truly amazing. It left me in tears. The power of John Tam's rendition is truly astonishing.

  • The only way this could get any better is if he starts shilling out brown paper and paraffin after the song.
