thats actually not true. with simple fuel and ignition upgrades you can run up to 20psi through a 13b without worrying about shattering pistons or blowing gaskets. rotary engines handle boost very well, with the exception of the apex seals.

The S2000 is lighter and has a better gear ratio. A lot of people think that adding a turbo kit is the answer for the RX8 but it's not. Before wasting money on a turbo kit people should first get an ECU flash and a final gear upgrade, I promise you will be amazed at the difference. Then, get a supercharger. A turbo takes too long to spool and leaves the RX8 hurting in the low rpms where it's weakest. With a supercharger you feel it as soon as you touch the gas.

Many turbo 8s only run a few lbs of boost. to turbo one correctly requires more than just upping the boost to x lbs. I have raced may s2k and my bud has a cr and we are about even.

remember this is an RX8 not RX7. if it was an RX7 itll be a whole different story. RX8's aint made for boosting. na RX8 vs NA s2000 the RX8 would have more chances. s2000's are made for pure cornering. but change gearings for drags on a S2k and damn itll be quik as hell too knowing stock block holds 500+hp with no problem. I LOVE S2000's!!!!

I want to FI my 09 r3 with pettit SC but its like twice the price of the greddy turbo. I just dont like the sound of the BOV on the turbo. Ive also been told the Turbo is more problematic then the SC but you hear all kinds of things so its hard to get to the truth.  Nice turbo rx8 in the vid though.

This is why you dont buy the greddy kit! Esmeril all the way! The Greddy kit pushes close to 6psi I believe and holds untill about 7k then dies out. Although you can run whatever but itll shoot down to 6psi once you hit 7000rpm.

Yeah, T618Z Mitsu turbo is the base GReddy turbo. It was designed to run up to ~7 psi, and runs out of air in the upper rpm ranges. It is also a journal bearing turbo with no water cooling so it tends to cake up and die after about 10k miles. There are a few nice upgrades available however that can use the GReddy manifold and intercooler piping.
