They just add TTs, Headers, a few other minor bolt-ons, and the stock long block is good for up to 1100 big ones.

Really had less to do with the driver and more to do with traction problems that is why he most likely kept slow off the line. Not to mention the Ford GTs gearing does not help as its geared for track and top speed not for 1/4 mile performance. That is why you don't see them doing very good on the drag circuit.

The Ford GT does have amazing traction when it is dealing with stock power but once they get above 800-900 rwhp it is alot for the car to handle even in Mid Engine RWD configurations.
The Ford GTs engine is nothing like the 5.4l found in Fords trucks. Actually they have different bore and strokes, made out of different materials and the engine in the Ford GT took 4-5 months to develop.
As far as the gearing goes the transmission is set to race tracks and top speed just like the Enzo and Carrera GT but the Ford GT is even more so. Believe me no truck in existence has a 5th gear that can reach over 250 mph like the Ford GT. Yes that is right it reaches highway speeds in 1st, 140 in 4th and 5th extends to up to 250 mph on the stock transmission.
@FordGTGuy having a 5th gear that goes to 250 and still having another gear is just stupid when your top speed is 205, its not geared at all like an enzo or carrera gt, they use close ratio gearboxs to optimize its powerband and its top speed, ie its top speed is close to its redline in top gear
The Ford GTs top speed is 212 mph and is electronically limited to 205 mph. They built the Ford GT in that way knowing the potential the car had and the taller gearing provided better fuel mileage.
The Enzo and Carrera GT are geared for 200+ speeds and track just like the Ford GT. None of them are geared for 1/4 mile drag circuits. The Ford GT has a larger powerband than both the Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo.
@FordGTGuy look up car and driver real top speeds, the z06 corvette is supposed to do 198 it did 178, the srt 10 viper is supposed to do 202 it did 181 and the ford gt is supposed to do 205 and it did 189, just because the ford,chevy or dodge say they will do that doesnt mean they can get there stock.
@coalandnuclear motor trend ran the gt vs carrera gt vs enzo on circle track to find top speed. Enzo=212, carrera=205.5, and GT= 205 (give or take a mph or two). All great times and not bad for the GT having a weight and horsepower disadvantage to the two exotics.

@coalandnuclear The FGT is not an easy car to drag race. It has a 3.27 final gear, 600+rwtq before 2,500rpms and a big engine over the rear wheels.
Throttle it too much and the tires will light up, give it too little and it will bog like it did in this run. Tall gears + big power = a hard time finding the sweet spot.

Really had less to do with the driver and more to do with traction problems that is why he most likely kept slow off the line. Not to mention the Ford GTs gearing does not help as its geared for track and top speed not for 1/4 mile performance. That is why you don't see them doing very good on the drag circuit.

You do understand that your logic makes no sense at all right?
The Ford GT does have amazing traction when it is dealing with stock power but once they get above 800-900 rwhp it is alot for the car to handle even in Mid Engine RWD configurations.
The Ford GTs engine is nothing like the 5.4l found in Fords trucks. Actually they have different bore and strokes, made out of different materials and the engine in the Ford GT took 4-5 months to develop.

As far as the gearing goes the transmission is set to race tracks and top speed just like the Enzo and Carrera GT but the Ford GT is even more so. Believe me no truck in existence has a 5th gear that can reach over 250 mph like the Ford GT. Yes that is right it reaches highway speeds in 1st, 140 in 4th and 5th extends to up to 250 mph on the stock transmission.

@FordGTGuy having a 5th gear that goes to 250 and still having another gear is just stupid when your top speed is 205, its not geared at all like an enzo or carrera gt, they use close ratio gearboxs to optimize its powerband and its top speed, ie its top speed is close to its redline in top gear

The Ford GTs top speed is 212 mph and is electronically limited to 205 mph. They built the Ford GT in that way knowing the potential the car had and the taller gearing provided better fuel mileage.
The Enzo and Carrera GT are geared for 200+ speeds and track just like the Ford GT. None of them are geared for 1/4 mile drag circuits. The Ford GT has a larger powerband than both the Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo.

@FordGTGuy look up car and driver real top speeds, the z06 corvette is supposed to do 198 it did 178, the srt 10 viper is supposed to do 202 it did 181 and the ford gt is supposed to do 205 and it did 189, just because the ford,chevy or dodge say they will do that doesnt mean they can get there stock.

@coalandnuclear motor trend ran the gt vs carrera gt vs enzo on circle track to find top speed. Enzo=212, carrera=205.5, and GT= 205 (give or take a mph or two). All great times and not bad for the GT having a weight and horsepower disadvantage to the two exotics.

The SVT lightning motor is a 2valve SOHC 5.4L motor with a cast iron block.
The Ford GT motor is a 4valve DOHC 5.4L motor with an aluminum block

@coalandnuclear The FGT is not an easy car to drag race. It has a 3.27 final gear, 600+rwtq before 2,500rpms and a big engine over the rear wheels.
Throttle it too much and the tires will light up, give it too little and it will bog like it did in this run. Tall gears + big power = a hard time finding the sweet spot.
