  • it would be nice if you make a front shot of the painting after the dolphin has finished. so we can se the resulting pice of art.

  • @Irobrc I will definitely think about that, if I make more video in the future like that. :)

  • Way cool! Try giving them a boomerang shaped brush so they can see it better and set the canvas to the side. .^. oh yeah, and give them a choice of which brush color to use.

  • your dolphin is amphibian!

  • I would never paint if I had to do it with my mouth.

  • @baskerzeke Some people unfortunately do it too, because they don't have other choices.

  • @frenchorcatrainer the thinks you have to do just to get some fish

  • @frenchorcatrainer That would be some intense dedication. I can paint and draw with my feet fairly well. But again, some people don't have that option either.

  • This is scary (for me)

  • I learned something from this. Elephants are much better painters than dolphins. But I imagine an elephant nose is a lot easier to paint with.

  • @ASwiftHippie If dolphin had hands, they certainly be better painter though ;)

  • @frenchorcatrainer Should get some of those pens or markers or whatever that you can use underwater and let it use them; it'd probably have a much better time of it then.

  • the part where she slides in and takes the brush with her mouth is funny

  • Own... *-*

  • Dolphins are so fucking weird looking..

  • Since the dolphin needs to turn its head to actually see the page properly, a long brush with a right angle might be the thing? Or even bent back on itself a little, so the brush on page contact is directly in her view.

  • @boosra That was actually my next step, if I was still working for that park. Unfortunately, I left before to be able to finish this project. :(

  • @frenchorcatrainer

    Aw. :(

  • very coool!

  • she really knows what she was trying to paint... a very intelligent animal

  • sorry, but I couldn't see anything. The dolphin might not even be able to track the brush movement visually, as it's eyes are not really oriented forward(I don't think). It appeared as if the dolphin was periodically turning it's head aside to perhaps get a good view of the paper or canvas or whatever it is that the drawing is being done on.

  • Omg I love dolphins. I love youtube. I love life.

  • I show this to my brother and he says, "It's fake, I'ts fake. It's probably at Disney World." XD

  • @dalmatian234 Hehe... He will have to learn that not everything in life is fake, like they show in movies ;)

  • lol

  • it's so CUTE!!!

  • at least it looks better than picassos crap

  • Humans are animals too.)... mammals)))

  • Shes adorable!!

  • Her neck angle is not for that box inclination, I also suggest an electromagnetic actuated brush, if the dolphin bites it with some strenght, the brush will go forward, touching the canva.

  • They should put mirrors up so he can see the brush better

  • very inspiring, thank you...

  • I can imagine in the future there being experiments where animals get equipped with prostetic limbs to see what they would be able to produce with them.

  • Whoa she's amazing!!

Have you tried giving her a pen? (Like a sharpie) or something? She seems a bit confused when it runs out of paint. You can see her trying to draw whatever she was trying to draw, but when there is no paint, she goes back over it again.

  • @AdoobibullTwins3n4 Actually that was a detail I haven't noticed before. So, next time I could do it again, I will definitely try with a pen to see if that makes a difference. For now, this dolphin is not painting any more unfortunately.

  • @AdoobibullTwins3n4 Exactly what I was thinking! Would be too cool to see what she would do with unending drawing power!

  • Whats sad is I've been drawing all my life, and I bet that art sells for more.

  • giver a treat

  • they sound like an airsoft gun

  • great, now sell it as modern art! Leonardo Dolphinci

  • @Redflowers9 hehe, actually she had a artist name: "Chicasso" ! :D

  • i myself am quite an artist, but i would have trouble painting with the paintbrush in my mouth instead of my hands & especially if my eyes were on the side of my head instead ofboth my eyes up front! I think these Dolphins do fantastic! :D i really liked how the painting looked too & how this Dolphin was aware of how she/he wanted the next stroke to look! . Very nice abstract art even! Dolphins are brilliant in so many ways! i LOVE DOLPHINS! :D

  • It looks like she is having problems seeing what she is painting.

She keeps turning sideways, then turning back to the painting.

What if she held the paint brush sideways?

  • @Werewolphe yes definitely. Glad to see someone noticed that though. I've tried all kind of configuration with her, but this seemed to works the best though.

  • Dolphins don't paintr as well as elephants but I heard they play a real mean harmonica!!!

  • @oromuisca Oh trust me on that, Dolphins paint way better than elephant, even while playing music if needed ! ;)

  • @frenchorcatrainer

Sorry, I have to disagree. It's not a matter of intelligence, but a matter of dexterity. In my mind, dolphins and elephants are on the same par in terms of intelligence.

  • @frenchorcatrainer Elephents do produce better paintings - they draw trees, and flowers, and elephants! How about if you try to set up a couple of mirrors somehow so she can see what she's painting while she's painting it?

  • Elephants paint better.

  • @keenanwin I agree to disagree with you there. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who think alike too. :P

  • This video is amazing, a real eye opener. I think I'm going to donate money for the preservation of sea life.

  • @heroiniskindacool That's really kind of you. And thanks. :)

  • My jaw dropped @ :15 when I saw her grab the paintbrush!! She's so happy and beautiful.. thanks for taking care of her and introducing us to her artsy side!!!=)

  • @melistar Well, thank you :)

  • He or she can't see what's in the front.

  • @ltlwatcher Yes that's correct. That's why you see her turning her head at time to check what she draw, before resuming painting.

  • redesign the brush dude...

  • @honestcheetah I've already did it a bit. And from all the brushes I did, she liked those better.

  • Can dolphing actualy enjoy painting and create their own paintings? Or they just reproduce some behaveour to be rewarded with fish?

  • @Otokage007 They can enjoy it. All depend on the way it's been train from the beginning though. This dolphin could paint even without any fish as reward sometimes, because she loved it.

  • Has she painted again?

  • @quelita28 No, unfortunately since I left the park, she never painted again. :(

  • @quelita28 WHy did u leave?

  • @McHwarrior13 unfortunately, because of the mentality of the park's owner which was not at all going toward mine and my view of giving proper care of marine mammals.

  • @frenchorcatrainer thats sad :(

  • awwww thats soo amazing !!! she deserves more fish

  • i love how she comes slithering out of the pool to grab that paint brush

  • hmm... What's the Dolphin saying at 2:58???

  • @Meme27Ranger She says: "hurry with my fish !" :D

  • It looks like she's trying to draw a fish.

  • Just wondering if she is still painting and if she has painted with

different brushes, maybe with one a little bit bigger. Also,it would

be interesting to analyze her speech when she paints to understand

    what she is saying.

  • @quelita28 Since I left the facility, she is unfortunately not painting any more to my knowledge.

  • Is she happy in the aquarium that she is at? Some dolphins are very miserables living in aquariums. Also,do you know if she was born in captivity or was captured? Did the trainers mention anything about those things?

  • @quelita28 As you can see on the video by yourself, I think we can both agree she definitely looks happy. She was transferred from another facility, but I don't know more than this though.

  • Nice entrance, she is eager to start painting. I really like that dolphin!

  • Do you know if her baby is still alive and did you by the way notice

that she is using sounds while she paints ? Do you know why

she was doing that (it looks like she was trying to say something to

you) and am I right or was she thinking a bit when she was painting?

  • @quelita28 Yes, her 2nd baby is still alive. And yeah I noticed the talking. She was always into it for sure. She loved it soo much, that sometimes I didn't even need to use primary reinforcement with her at the end of the session.

  • How old is this dolphin and in what aquarium does he live in?

  • @quelita28 I believe she is around 25 year old. I rather don't tell about the place, as they are not really careful about their animals now unfortunately.

  • @frenchorcatrainer

Do you know if the dolphin is doing well and is she a mother that has a dolphin.

  • @quelita28 From what I know, she is doing fine. Just too much overfeed. She had some baby in the past too, yes.

  • @frenchorcatrainer Not TOO careful, I see... Marineland Antibes, France. Simple online search

  • @ImSoOffended Nope, this was NOT a dolphin from Marineland. This was made in another park.

  • Nobody gives me fish when I paint! :)

  • unfortunately this seems like all it is is a trick... the dolphins are rewarded with food and it doesnt seem like they are even aware whether they are hitting the canvas with the brush or not. would be amazing if they were actually communicating with us through painting. Not sure though, some of the movements almost seem intentional on the canvas... heres hoping :)

  • @dreadlordstu

It's not just a "trick" as you seems to believe. I first taught her what I wanted, of course using primary reinforcement. But, once she founds out about what she was really doing, she was doing it even when the session was finished, and no fishes where present. If you look correctly the video, you can see her actually painting, and then turning the head to look what she did (dolphins cannot see right front of their rostrum, so they have to turn the head to look properly).

  • :o is adorable ... I am charmed with this video:) it has such a pretty sweet little face

  • This is absolutely gorgeous. What might her name be?

  • More videos like this please! This is so cool, its so upclose, and personal. A cool video would maybe just be you and a dolphin interacting. Thats just a suggestion, but I think alot of people would find videos like these amazing, just like me!

  • CUTE

  • Chiki, right? How cute! True, other dolphinariums do this trick, but there not a lot!

  • bless 5*
