  • Today I have heard of a story where a man has a meter but can't read it because it is installed underground. I thought the whole point of a meter was that you COULD keep a regular eye on how much water you are using?

  • this is really helpful!

    thanks :D

  • another leaky kitchen faucet fixed, thanks to the wrench + screwdriver trick! Thanks, Professor H2O!

  • TURN IT OFF THAT WATER MANG

  • the fucking water company shut off my water. now all i have to do is cut the lock and turn it back on!! thanks!!!!

  • @BerkeleyBuilt

Well be careful. We charge an extra $161 for cut locks. Then we just remove the meter...

  • @craigslistjp Does EastBay Mud?

  • One of the best how-to videos Ive seen. Explanation was simple, easy to understand and demonstrated wonderfully!! Thank you!!!

  • dont most houses have a suutoff valve inside the basement wall area? why go outside to shut off the water? Guess it depends where in this country you live, and whether you have a basement, right?

  • Thanks for this video. I could have done without the lengthy introduction, though. =) I had a huge emergency.

  • Thanks. Before seeing this video, I had looked at the meter, but I didn't see any shutoff valve. After the video I was encouraged to dig away dirt around the meter and lo and behold there was the valve. Only thing was, to turn off the water I had to turn the valve clockwise about 180 degrees, not 90 like I expected.

  • Thank You Sir. Now I can fix my leaky kitchen faucet.

  • Thank you for this. Had to shut off my water today so I could replace a faucet. Does anyone know if they sell the tool to easily turn it on and off? Or can only water companies use those? Had a hell of a time with how rusted the thing was.

  • @MrAntidepressant

You can purchase a Valve key for turning your water off at most big hardware stores. Check in your local area.

  • @highlinewd Thanks man.

  • Had my water shut off because of an outstanding balance. Paid in full and couldnt wait for the company to come back the next day to turn it on again (no shower in the morning :( ). Did it myself by following this video. I just have to turn it back off before I call them again to 'restore' service otherwise I'll get a $250 fine for doing it on my own. Thanks for the video.

  • This came in handy tonight. Thanks.

  • you saved my life. or my water bill

  • Thanks!

  • dount have this kinda on off whare i am its a tiny 120 pin hex.

  • lol wtf

  • brb, lol

  • Thanks for showing us the right way to shut off the main water valve

  • thank you - i was panicked and it took a lot of force to shut - needed the leverage

  • LOL, I love this German accent. Sounds like a mad scientist.

  • Thanks for the demo, FYI for others, not all valves are quarter turn, you might have to turn yours several rotations until it shuts off.

  • Thanks for the info!!! Great demonstration.

  • oh or you know, turn it with your fucking finger dumbass

  • This guy's voice is freaking amazing

  • How do you remove the glass top to see the reading.

The glass is all foggy and it's not possible to read the meter.

The city must be over estimating the reading as they can't see it either, they don't clear it out and don't do anythng.

  • Thanks You So Much man, we had a major leak and we didn't know how to shut down the water till I saw your video.Your a life saver.

  • I know Lowe's has 'em.

  • Hey thanks for the help o.o.
