This version of Fire is probably my favorite on youtube. The tempo is not too fast, got plenty of Funk thanks to Sugarfoot, and Will Lee does a great job on bass in my opinion (contrary to what others have said) Chet even does a fantastic job of covering the parts that Billy Beck normally would have sung. All in all, a very solid performance by all. Funny to see Paul Schaffer gettin' down on keyboard to an Ohio Players song!

Whoever mentioned that Will Lee couldnt hang on bass has no idea what he's talkin bout here. Will nails this to a tee and add's his own flavor and embellishments. His whole angle for over the 30 years I've seen him has been R&B so he was perfect for to back Sugarfoot and crew.

@Nanadsyl They wuz wigs back in the day??? All I remember (besides him being my idol) was that he was actually shorter than me. (I'm 5'6) He looked so tall with the fro on those albums.

Will really lays it down from about 2:10 on...the early part of the song is rather straight...I'm glad they kept the tempo in check on this one...most of the like clips they push the tempo far too fast....great stuff....

it's ok, listen to the other old live version on youtube and "skin tight" and you'll hear the difference. 2:28 is pretty cool though. Will Lee is a little late w/ some of the groove, it's that white man groove. you gotta hear the other old versions live of "fire" and and "skin tight". the one where theoriginal bass player has a Gibson EB bass. you'll hear the difference. those versions are funky like 2 week old tuna sandwich and phatt.

@novaracer1963 Oh, don't get me wrong, Lee's got his moments for sure, but you gotta hear the other live versions from japan here on youtube of "Fire" and "Skin Tight". you'll see what i mean. whole different groove and less straight forward.
