  • vote yes on 1 and i making more sign and yes on question 3

  • I didn't really get what you were saying but YES ON 1!!!!

  • More of the same scare tactics by the teachers union, police and fire.

The latter (our hero's)... being the two biggest forms of unregulated corruption in the state.

The trust fund liberals screamed... "What no welfare... that's crazy" And the Income tax repeal lost overwhelmingly.

And guess what? Gov. Cadillac Deval and the legislature are still going to raise property taxes, tolls to almost double, and still cut 200 police from the force. (after pledging to add 1000)

    Whats new?

  • HAHA! it was voted down you dummies!

  • I voted yes.

  • Well done sir. When I talk to people about Question 1 I do get a lot of people who say "Oh, you must not own -property-. Oh, the taxes are going to skyrocket!" If you're a property owner and don't understand Prop 2-1/2 I'm starting to think you need someone to come in and water you a couple times a week. But I digress. These people never think of the other side of the equation, the money they save, which is far greater than any "skyrocketing" property tax!

  • I totally agree with you. Is there a chance we could win. Also remind people that any tax increase is a tax deduction. win, win my friend

  • if i had money, i woudl run an ad on TV and educate people - but all I have is this.

as you can see, even this is not enough, people still want to vote NO. I guess math is too complicated.

The polls are looking ugly for us, but it came close in 2002 - so just it to as many voters as you can. This is a low probability event.

  • Thanks for taking the time to research and post this, arkadyka.I was planning on voting yes, now I have even more reason to do so. Also, the taxes you pay will stay in your local community as opposed to funding far away projects ...any interest in running for governor???

  • I have 5 children in public school in Mass, a wife who works as a teacher in Mas. I will be voting NO on question one. If you take 50% of state tax revenue away, then schools and basic services such as fire, police and public works will suffer. It doesnt take a genius to figure that out. I qualify this remark by saying that I am a confirmed republican and fiscal conservative. We have a pretty good thing going for us here in Massachusetts. High wages and low unemployment here.

  • did you not understand that the difference is offset by your property taxes? what town do you live in?

  • You asked what town I live in, and I live in Duxbury. Yes, property taxes will be an issue, but it takes a Prop 2 1/2 override to do that, and we can control that with our vote. Sales tax will be the place where we see an increase in Mass. I still think that our wages here in Mass are in line with our tax burden. I would not like to see an increase of any kind, but I can live with what we have now. My planner makes sure that I am well protected from the taxman anyway.

  • According to mass. gov Duxubry gets the following aid from MA.

    State Aid5,051,891%8.56

So all your schools, fire, police, etc rely on a wopping 8% of aid? If MA cuts that, you can replace it by raising your property taxes by 8%. How much will you keep?

Sales tax? Why are you speculating? Even the major Voteno1 on 1 guys never suggested a sales tax. You are hijacked by the govt scare tactics, teacher unions, etc. I just proved to you that your life will improve.

  • @arkadyka it will not effect the police and firefighter and education

  • That is not completely accurate and actually is another point why I am happy Prop 1 did not pass. Property taxes are already high in this state an increase would be disastrous for both homeowners and non-homeowners alike. I sure do not like the idea of paying higher rent in an already inflated market.

  • Well I'm not genius, but in MA there's a statutory mandate to fund education that cannot be overcome by cutting taxes. And some basic math (and I learned it in public schools so don't flame me if I dork it up) shows that the state spends about $5bn on fire, police, ambulances and education. Most of the money comes from local taxes that we already pay. Yes, making people like me raid our retirement to pay for government workers is a sweet deal. For you maybe.

  • Like I said in my previous post, I am voting for what is in MY personal best interests. I apologize for nothing. If you want to lower taxes , Mass probably isnt the place you want to be. We live in the bluest of blue states. I have learned to live with it.

  • I support your right to vote for whatever the blazes you want. Go vote! Your comment that I should probably not live here is like telling a black person they should "go back to Africa where you came from" to me. Do politics or politics will do you. Being OK with the corruption and waste around us surprises me, and your desire to expand the public sector at the bankrupcty of the commonwealth is informative.

  • The only thing that will bankrupt the Commonwealth, as you so eloquently put it, would be the removal of the revenue that the income tax provides. The waste has to be addressed, but abolishing the income tax is akin to swatting a mosquito with a sledgehammer. No one wins.

  • I meant question 1**** below

  • I've heard ideas from both sides and it seems like voting YES on question 2 makes sense to me.. But I doubt it will pass =/

  • now i have no idea what im gonna vote on question 1!!! aaaahhh

  • heh! :) well you are armed with knowledge, don't let people using generalities and scare tactics sway you.

the rest if up to you I suppose.

  • I agree with this video!

  • Also school budgets are designated by I believe the state and have a bottomline figure that cannot be reduced. If you remove the state aid, the required minimum funding # will not drop. So where does the make up money come from?? Your municipal side, your senior services, fire services, police services, library services, your maintenance services. The money the towns are getting are not for amazing pensions and payoffs, they are for educating our children and taking care of our community.

  • the only school budget that is not raised from local funds is chapter 70.

maybe if you actually looked at the reports that I linked to you - you will realize where the money goes. City of Boston spends almost as much on pensions as they do on firemen!

  • Plain and simple, your crazy. Please call any Mayor, Selectmen, town manager (a person that was voted into office and ask them, what type of impact will these reductions have? 95% of them will not be in favor and the other 5% are just tweaked such as yourself. And hate to break it to you but you will see all service fees skyrocket to make up the difference in lost revenue. They will get it one way or another.

  • asking government offficials if they support a budget cut is like asking a Heroine addict if he supports raising heroine prices 30%. What sense does it make?

  • you are correct i am a resident of NC so i cannot vote in Ma. however, i've already stated how i would vote. ty take care

  • Well its like you said, funded by our real estate taxes "for the most part." The for the most part are the deeper cuts the towns and cities are going to have to make, most municipal budgets have already been cut to the bone, jobs, libraries, emergency services, senior services, street lighting etc are all examples that have already suffered extremely

  • You know what, you are not making any sense.

If the state government does not cut programs like:

    Police Patrol

    Sanctuary cities for illegals

AMAZING pensions for all govt employees

    Vast judicial systems

In order to fund libraries and senior citizens, then they should all be FIRED.

The whole point is to reduce govt excess.

I proved to you that most towns can get by without this, but the state MUST CUT.

stop being a state reliant liberal.

  • Dont forget the two budgets that are affected first in any town, are the libraries and the senior services if your community has not been hit hard yet. People expect services from their towns and if you dont think it's going to cripple a majority of the communities your crazy.

  • You also left out in your promo the poor communities that have to fund less fortunate families that are trying to educate their children and are unable to contribute to the system like others do. Local public schools on average cost $7000 to $10000 per student when you do the figures. Portions of that anticipated state aid make all the difference in the world to these communities to offset these cost.

  • Obviously by the % of figures you used in your examples question 1 only really benefits people that make in excess of 100,000.

VOTE NO ON 1, and not to worry, I will be voting. I am all for keeping government officials accountable for their actions but dont cripple the communities with this stupid article. VOTE NO on Question 1. VOTE NO ON QUESTION 1

  • What are you talking about? how does this only help those making 100,000? explain it.

  • Every town budget that I have ever been involved with relys heavily on state aid. And your right your property tax may not go up by people in all of these communities will be faced with major overides so we will be paying for it anyway. VOTE NO on Question 1 Reform government dont cripple it!

This article WILL put alot of people out of jobs!

  • Your experience is conflicting with the actual numbers from the state. How can you look at the numbers and put your own spin on them? I am confused...

  • As a person from NC working as a Temporary Employee of the Great State of Ma.

    Encourages:

    NO on 1

    Yes on 2

    No on 3

    Mccain for President

    thank you for your time.

  • ty arkaydka for the forum where Ideals are expressed un-biased.

  • your welcome, its too bad you still think we should vote NO on 1.

But I suppose you are not voting, so its ok :)

  • I'm voting yes, MA sucks and is the third most expensive state by taxing people and using our hard earned money for the most stupid things. Enough is enough of the corruption in this pathetic state.

  • Good said! Yes, I'll vote YES.

  • deal! :)

  • Good said! Yes, I'll vote YES.

  • The major thing that your figures showed is that the wealthier towns are the ones that are going to benefit from this while the poorer towns will suffer. The taxes HAVE to be made up SOMEWHERE, and whether it's trash removal, phone bills, or wherever, it WILL get paid. Only now, poor people have to pay just as much as rich people, so bye-bye progressive tax system. Question 1 benefit's the rich, and hurts the middle class, that's why your "example" was someone well off.

  • There are some towns like Springfield that get a bunch more aid, so their property taxes will need to go up a lot more - they might not get much left over.

I picked my towns at random, practically everything I saw was in the 20% range on average.

I dont know what you are talking about, how do poor people pay as much as wealthy?

If poor people live in the same kind of house, then yes. Q1 benefits everyone. Especially those that rent.

  • It seems the state governmet of Mass. is just as bad as New York. The teachers here are the worst. They get paid big bucks to tell are kids to vote for Obama.

    I pray McCain wins.

  • arkadyka, what an awesome video! Isn't it amazing how powerful the truth can be?

Thanks for doing a great job articulating the facts.

  • Ya, I'm voting Yes on 1, Yes on 2, and No on 3.

  • I was so upset about this subject, I typed the wrong answer for voting on question #1. yikes!

    VOTE YES on Question 1

    Thank You

  • just make sure you type the right answer in the ballot :) hehe.

  • I am from Mass, and will be voting NO on question #1, but I was even before I saw this video. It sucks living in this ultra liberal state. Everything arkadyka says is true, its ridiculous the amount of waste and graft there is in this state.

  • doughboy,

If Barney Frank gets elected I will give up on humanity. There is no reason with so much coverage taht anyone should be voting for this liar. Especially considering that his lies are all over the web!

Me voting for Barr is just preparing for our future. If I lived in PA, MO, NC, etc - I would vote McCain. I am not completely crazy :)

  • You are spot on my friend!

I'm in Illinois, very Blue, that's why we are 48th out of all states in regard to our financial solvency.

  • Five Stars!

  • Do a video on Barney Frank!

  • who is this guy? he seems to know what he's talking about... HA! what up RKD! it's joe. i hope more ppl from MA get's to see this and snaps out of their stupor... wishful thinking.

  • too bad the average person isn't willing to listen to and comprehend that much information and would rather be told what to think... good luck with the effort

  • sorry, I'm in CO and not MA, but good luck in your message!
