  • What is this song actually about? Does anyone know?

  • Thommo said that it was about the difficulty of growing up w/ a bad sibling and the trouble that you get into for covering for them.

  • Hmmm that's three different meanings I've found now. That one. The fact that Chas did bad things as a child and it's a girl the writer dumped? Lol confused.

  • > I've seen Madness twice and will see them again this year.

    You make me jealous :)

  • nice to see the nutty boys back

  • Peaked at number 24 on the UK singles chart. Not bad for a band who've been going for as long as they have.

  • Peaked at number 7 actually!

  • No it didn't. It got to number 24 on the official UK singles chart.....actually.

  • 7, 24,who cares!? They are No'1 as far as I'm concerned...actually.

Fantastic! Long live the 'Nutty Sound'.

  • Thank goodness you're not 39!

  • Suggs is the best

  • Saw them at bestival where most of this footage is from. Great showmen, and sound as good as they did in the 80s.

  • what can i say, brill song, the start off in a minor chord, subtle changes to major chord then back to minor, and the key change for the sax is brill, barso at his best again, not exactly the nutty boy sound but hey ! these guys can still knock out a fucking good tune and i hope to the mad god in the sky that it hits number 1, madness madnes madness madness maaaaaaaddddddnnnnnneeeeeeesssssss

  • They are still alive...!?

  • this cant be ska it isnt off beat??? or is it?? o_0

  • No, but why should they restrict themselves to playing ska...? This is just one f*cking great song, long may they reign!

  • excellent song by a group with more class in their foreskins than in the entire vortex that is noel gallagher.

  • assuming that they have their foreskins?? hehe

  • Ah the great debate rages on: who really shot Kennedy? did the ball cross the line in 66?...and do the band Madness have foreskins?

  • it was at No. 24 last week. But according to the Independant its No. 1 in the indie charts,so hopefully it will climb the charts, brilliant song

  • number 3 in the indie charts now

  • A great song by a great band, it gets better with each listen!

  • I think it's in the top ten at the moment'the more i listhen to this the better it gets'they used to get stoned with me dad in islip st when they first started proper nutty boys...

  • I missed it! where did they end up in the charts?

  • 24 i think... somewhere around that!

    woohooo

  • Woop woop! I love madness they should be number 1!!!! :)

  • I love it!! Back on form, like the early 80s all over again!

  • Great return by the nutty boys.

  • This song gets better and better everytime i hear it.Can't get to see them this year but looking forward to the new album

  • Love the new version. A++

  • Can anybody explain me the plot of the song, especially these lines, please:

I have heard you come up

    Believing your own lies

Witnessed the blessing rise up in a

    A very strange disguise

Ooh I watched you climb up

    I seen you come alive

From those very humble beginnings in

    NW5

  • At the Astoria gig, Lee said he wrote it about a friend from North West 5 who "sort of lost the plot recently but I gave him the benefit of the doubt,it could've have been me". You can hear this on the EXCELLENT limited edition live CD's from The Astoria gig which you can still get from concertlive dot co dot uk website and they are worth every penny and include all the new songs! As for the rest of the story behind this song, I guess that's up to our imagination for the time being...
