Everytime the U.S. goes to war there are many that discriminate against those who have racial background in the country it is at war with. From the Spanish in the Spanish-American war, to Japanese, Germans, and Italians in WWII, to now with Muslims and Arabics. The cycle MUST STOP! This is the Melting Pot and we should be proud! End the racism! End the hatred! Or this world will burn in its own arrogance.
we were reading the novel in my class. it was very sad. its crazy that people lost their homes and everything they had when they got booted to the internment camps. :(
Wow, great video! Most people that make videos like this are total jerks and don't understand the seriousness of where they are, but you were really well informed and I learned a lot! Thanks!
thanks, I don't talk about things like this unless I have a idea of what it is about. I do think that it is a shame that there is nothing there, it is all gone other than reconstructed stuff, and the grave sight.
Yeah it was a hell of a ride, either in Jan or Feb, it was cold while riding, thank god I had heated gloves on. That and I had to make up some time at one point 78 miles in 40 minutes from one gas station to another. Yeah that's cool that folks in Hawaii came together like that, and looked out for each other.
Wow! That's amazing! Thanks for riding all that way and for sharing your video and commentary! Awesome!
From what i understand, the Hawaii situation was special in that people of different ancestries all came together and worked to block the internment movement here. Thanks again for posting!
you know its pretty crazy because we were mad about the nazis holding citizens in detention camps, why did we do that to our citizens. i kno it was meant to be for the good but the least thy should have done was give them food water heat especially with the sierra nevadas near them. i lived in lone pine i kno how cold it gets. but i mean do you see what i am saying?
Glad to see the video. One of my parents were there. The other was in Jerome, Arkansas interment camp. And yes, they were U.S. citizens. I want to go there one day. Several organizations make annual trips out there to remember. The American Japanese 100th Infantry Battalion & 442nd Regimental Combat team, the "Go for Broke" served WWII. The most decorated U.S. military units. Another award they will be receiving soon is the Congressional Gold Metal of Honor, Congress's highest civilian honor.
isn't it funny, all minorities that have served in the military have always become the most or some of the most decorated combat units in American history. I understand the why, but even I still wonder why for a govt that had did nothing but oppress your people. But it all comes down to this, when you have nothing to lose and everything to gain why not.
2/3 of those imprisoned were U.S. citizens.

Your title is wrong, it is not "interment" camp, it is properly called "concentration camp". Please change it.

The Japanese Americans in Hawaii mostly escaped the internment situation. There's an incredible story behind that too.

Yeah, you should do a vid on it. I rode 290 miles each direction to get to Manzanar, it was worth it though.
