  • This car is amazing, so much so that it even beat cars that were in the class above

  • porsche MR6 - best engine ever build.

  • Lookin forward to Porsche makin a LMP1 car. 3.7 flat 6 bi turbo would be cool. then again so would a V8. cant wait!!!

  • lol some kind of precision understeer, that's cause he's not driving it fast enough, therefore not getting enough downforce to cut through the corners, similar to an F1

  • That looks remarkably like the Audi R8

  • slideshows ftl

  • i would like to see the top gear boys test this... or any prototype for that matter

  • One damn fine piece of tech that I NEED TO DRIVE.

  • This car is tearing it up again in 2010, beauty, and Porrsche still says LMP1 coming

  • Por-SHUH, not PORSH!

  • @frambesbuckeye

In English use, Porsche is often pronounced incorrectly as a single syllable (/ˈpɔrʃ/), without a final /ə/. However, the company's proper pronunciation is /ˈpɔrʃə/ POR-shə[52] ("Porsh-uh"), as German language words do not have silent "e".

  • slide show ftw

  • my favorite car for the moment :)

  • with thanks to them cameras. are you having a joke, they were shit. Buy some proper ones. That video could have been made so much better and pleasing for the viewer but them cameras spoiled it for me.

  • if i win the euro millions I'll buy two on for the track and then convert one for the road!!!! :P

  • *one*

  • You know since the dawn of televison we kinda need 24fps or more to call something 'video'.. :D This is about 4... Reminds me of running Indycar Racing on a 386. :P

  • I`m starting to wonder if Chris Harris is the Stig????They both have the ability to just jump into ANY car,and drive it like it`s the only car they`ve ever driven.....

  • 503BHP BITURBO V8,SOUNDS LIKE DTM

  • This car is Naturally Aspirated!

  • Turbocharging is prohibited in DTM.

Have a look at the official DTM website.

  • The porsche rs spyder is an incredable car.

  • Does anyone know how much (approx in percent!) of the total downforce on these types of cars, that are generated from the underbody suction alone?

This thing has a flat floor all the way right?!...not like F1 with the stepped floors!

  • sexiest wheels ever IMO

  • Holy shit, no wonder they beat the LMP1s on some tracks

  • Comment removed

  • no no no audi rules le mans

  • well if audi is so good at racing then why are their road cars lacking?? sure they got the R8 and a few good RS cars but their regular cars just aren't that great. BMW definitely has the upper hand when it comes to building a fantastic sports sedan.

  • @nokadota2 they'll come back in 2014 to the LMP1!!!!!

  • Delightfull car. Simple as that.

  • I've been watching alot of videos with Autocar and Mr. Chris Harris, somehow I feel he deserves alot of recognition due to his accurate and interesting reviews of cars. It's not close to Top Gear's Jeremy clarkson but I would love to see Mr. Harris being featured in TG. That would be very interesting.

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • Seeing this just made my work day. I just remembered why i try to be so sucessfull. Cars like this.

  • Much respect for Mr. Harris' skills, wouldn't it be intriguing if Porsche entered F1?

  • sexiest wheels ever made. period

  • I have seen this before but failed to hear that it is 500 HP and only 750 KG (about 1600lbs)! That would make it the weight of my VW Karmann Ghia, just a little faster....

  • the 2007/2008 car has somewhere around 530 550 hp . thats about 3hp per every pound

  • I'm all about power to weight ratio!! Can't wait to see them at Laguna Seca this year.

  • I think your math is backwards montels, that'd be 3 lbs for every horsepower :P

But I agree, the power:weight on these things is ridiculous. The GT1 cars have more horsepower but they can't even begin to compete in the weight category.

I heard next year they're gonna try to slow the LMP1/2's down a little bit though, hope it doesn't happen.

  • Anyone know if the RS Spyder uses carbon brakes or ceramic composite? I saw it at Quail Lodge in Monterey, CA a week ago. Beautiful car.

  • the brakes on the 2005 - 2008 porsche rs spyder are a Two-circuit hydraulic braking system, six piston aluminum monobloc brake calipers, front and rear ventilated carbon brake discs, F: 380 mm diameter R: 355 mm diameter

  • That car looks absolutely spectacular to drive.

  • Chris rules ... have a look at autocar channel for more great videos

  • Porsche all the way!

  • Weissach my homecitiy...we hear sounds from engines nearly every day, but THIS is soooo amazing!

  • Porsche created both VW and Audi(Auto Union).

  • Dunno about the playstation but this is Weissach, Porsche's test track.

  • Is that the circuit from Porsche Challenge, the old Playstation game? (I'm a nerd lol!)

  • I've waited a long time for Porsche to finally kick Audi's butt at Lemans lol

  • lol

  • Porsche bought Audi last year!

There won`t be any ass kicking!

  • well porsche owned audi long before last year.

  • Sure?

Porsche AG bought last year VW AG.

And a part of VW is Audi.

Perhaps you can say there was an influence of Porsche before.

But now Porsche is the biggest owner of Audi and whole VW AG.

  • I thought Porsche and VW were already pretty much the same company since Dr. Porsche invented both.

  • No,Dr. Porsche developed the Beatle.

And in 1950's he tuned VW cars.

    But it doesn't matter.

Perhaps they will have any battles on race track in future, too.

  • guys guys guys.... porsche bought vw 51%, audi belongs to vw with about 98%!!

als oto vw belongs bentley, bugatti, skoda, skania, and 30% of MAN

  • You've told nothing new!

    I can't understand your comment.

    But sure, it's right.

  • No Porsche only designed the Type 1 (Beetle)

  • You can drive this circuit in PSX's "Porsche Challenge" videogame

  • Porsche did race in F1 in 62 it won the FrenchGP which was the only Porsche gp win until all Porsches pulled out in64.after that, they returned in the 80s as engine suppliers winning constructor and driver titles.91 was the last f1 presence due to very pour results.I hope they return to f1 too but I think that winning gt-fia gt2.ngt-and endurance races-24h lemans, daytona,rally-is more important for road car development than f1 because it better relates to real use of cars.

  • "relates to real use of cars." oh if only! ;P

  • where can i pick one up? lol only like a million kathrillion dollars, i got that

  • Oh I can't wait to see this beauty in le mans... 2008 ?

  • never is the most likely answer

  • I think we'll see Porsche back in Le Mans some day... battling for the overall win. The new rules ACO are planning to be used from 2010 sounds interesting, and it's not only closed cockpits (like 908), it will be a completely revamped class. Most likely something like the mid/late 90's GTP/LMGT1 class. Porsche should start making some Carrera GT blueprints... :D

  • So, what's the problem with P2 winning overall? It used to bug me, but now I think it adds variety, especially since Audi really has no competition in P1.

  • bmw bought sauber which designs the chassis. porsche should be in LMP1, not LMP2. the aco intends the P2 class to be for privateers.

  • Yes, because I am so sure that you are keen to what the ACO intends.

  • the aco didn't make the P2 class as a different way to get overall victories.
