Channel 4 news has just announced that the policeman responsible has come forward and 'handed himself in'. I hope that if it is found that he is responsible for this mans death, he is charged with manslaughter. Smeggy, Tomlinson chose to passively resist the police by the slow walking etc. There is no evidence to suggest that he was in fact making his way home, as he had been in the area of the riot for more than an hour and a half by the time he had contact with these officers (media photos of him stood in front of a riot van). He was a long term alcoholic and as such had distended liver and kidneys, with resulting increase in pressure on the organs around them. He was an accident waiting to happen.

JPM347...If you call being hit on the back of the legs an (accident waiting to happen) or being violently pushed to the ground, also.. (accident waiting to happen), then just remember to turn the other cheek if you find out one of your close relatives recieves the same kind of (MURDEROUS) treatment. No matter how you look at it, it was second degree murder with intent, which carries a min jail turm of 6/7 yrs.

The future troubles of this country (and there may well be some sort of civl war, in the next few yrs), will be between the type of peopel who beleive that ian tomlinson was "askign for trouble",a nd the type of people who think he was "murdered".

The Policeman who committed this crime should be immediately imprisoned as any other murder suspect would be whilst waiting for his trial. The Policeman purposely attacked Ian Tomlinson with premeditated violence even though their was NO provocation from Tomlinson. Tomlinson was walking away from the Police with his hands in his pockets when the Policeman savagely attacked him. We don't see his head hit the ground but obviously it does as 10 mins later, Ian Tomlinson was dead.

Channel 4 news has just announced that the policeman responsible has come forward and 'handed himself in'. I hope that if it is found that he is responsible for this mans death, he is charged with manslaughter. Since when has it been OK for police officers to wear balaclavas and assault innocent men just trying to make their way home.

A full and independent inquiry is needed to ensure this mans family get the justice they and he deserve. The officers who stood around and did nothingto help the man to his feet or to ensure he was ok before he stumbled away should be ashamed of themselves. Not all police are bad i have encountered many who do a good job and who only wish to make things safer for everyone however there are a minority who are cowards and use the uniform to hide behind. decent police deplore the likes of this one.

I really can't see the possible justification for the officers use of force on this gentleman,who appears to be walking away from the police line all be it slowly he's still moving away with his hands in his pockets clearly in a non aggressive manner. Even if he was using verbal abuse at the officers which hasn't been suggested yet that would not require force to be used against him.
