  • Is this really as simple as shitting on top of sawdust??

  • Yeah for composting! It's not just for hippies anymore.

Much, much more pleasant than the green plastic stink monsters. Wow! I used to have to run and hide when the trucks came to empty them. What a smell !!! It was like toxic-rot-fumes meet nuclear-perfume-bomb. Now it smells like my cedar chest that I keep at home for my best clothes. I don't even mind changing the buckets when they are full

Disclaimer: ( I was not in this video, nor was I remunerated in any way by hippy propagandists. )

  • I CANT BELIEVE THIS CRAP!

  • I've been attending this festival for 12 years, and since I was not one of the people interviewed, I'd like to add my comments. The compost toilets are WONDERFUL! They are clean, smell good, easy to use, big enough to go in with your child, have fresh air circulating because they are open at the top, you can see the trees, we've even decorated them inside and outside. No stinky, hot plastic, smelly chemicals, gross waste products to deal with. We love them!

  • LOL!@ Modern day night-soil collection at a festival, literally.

  • So how do you talk people in bucket duty, lol?

That sure would make a large garden very healthy. Much better than toxic waste.

    Way to go!

  • OMG this has me itching for festival season!!

  • Good video. Friends and I have been using a humanure composting system for five years. It's works great. Only time there is a smell, is when someone doesn't put enough sawdust on. It saves water, resources and money...and you don't have to buy one of those expensive composting toilets. Thanks for the video.

  • The festival is private (not open to the public). Four months after we built those compost piles, the temperature is averaging over 135 degrees F. That's measured at 6 places in the big pile and at two different depths (18 inches and 36 inches). Pretty amazing what nature will do for us if we let it.

  • it probably got that warm because of global warming

  • Great video!! What a good idea. What music festival was this?

  • Nicely done! I wonder how many compost piles they filled at the festival...

  • That is a HUGE compost pile!

Its amazing, and the people love it.

  • awesome stuff bud! i bet you can make a good chunkachange renting those. keep up the vids
