  • hey what are you doing to that poor owl

  • I for one do not approve of his handling of that owl. Why make the animal do something like that and stress it out to the point of screaming. I am getting my falconers License and they have NEVER treated them like THAT during my time training!!! Come on just to make a point?? That's just someone trying to make it out like he is boss of the animal an do what he wants. Show the Owl some respect and maybe he will be willing enough to cooperate with you. Just WRONG!!

  • It seems like you're hurting it. Lol.

  • He's a trained professional. He's not actually hurting it, its just that instinctively they don't like being handled at all.

  • @futurerockstar1992 seriously and you see barn owls? I'm jealous! I live in Ohio and they are endangered here! They are my favorite owl.. so if you want you can send some over this way! lol.I asked if you was from England because they are very populous there! They always see barn owls..lol

  • no video

  • We have one of these in the trees in our backyard. Scared the shit out of me the first time I heard it the other night.

  • @futurerockstar1992 Do you live in England?

  • @cfanderson30 No I live in Illinois in the U.S.

  • At night, we hear these flying over all the time. The screech sound is identical to the owl in this video. We got luck once and saw one when there were some lights on, but 99/100 times, we can never see these owls. We just hear them. I noticed the tshirt of the person in this video says Orange County. I'm not sure if that is FL or CA, but I live in Orange County, CA.

  • That is Tyto Alba ..and that's what it sounds

  • He's not hurting the owl. He's just screeching because he probably doesn't want to work and is just being cranky. Most animals have mood swings and owls are no exceptions.

  • @wildabeast1223 btw as soon as i saw your name Anger Management came to mind. lol

  • Kreeeeeeeeeearghhh!!!

  • It's funny that most of the people screaming about this being animal abuse are people who make their pets dance, dress them up and hug them when they don't want to be touched.

I don't think you should touch an animal that doesn't want to be handled, but this guy isn't hurting the owl. He's just irritating it.

MOST people irritate their pets for fun- whether it be whistling to make your cat make a funny "WTF" face, or holding your chinchilla. :I

  • DUDE, this guy is a JERK. That owl did not want to do that. Arse.

  • Okay, so that's what I heard last night! I thought it was the neighbor crying, lol. It's just an annoying owl:/

  • @randomjess4271 That's so funnyyy!!! haha, last night i heard this too and i looked up screech owls and this came up. :)

  • unless it's a domestic owl, it's probably normal for it to be mad when being handled

  • the owl if fIne everybody shut the fuck up, honestly people dont know what there talking about, i have to feed owls 2-3 times a week at a bird of prey rehabilitation center, and this is nothing, to feed a baby barred owl you have to manually open its beak and shove the food down or he will not eat, and you have to to keep him alive and his tummy full :3

  • Believe me...they DO sound like this...and they screech every 5-10 seconds....ALL NIGHT LONG!!!! I am in Southern Maine....At first I thought it was cats outside...but the screeching was too much of a regular pattern and continued for hours...my dobermans woke me up...after hearing this....I hope this owl finds a new roost tonight!!!!

  • WTF. Not a happy owl. Stop doing that, its clealy that owl dosent like it. I have seen owl happy tigether whit humans, but this owl insent at all. Wunder why asshole?

  • At 0:19, I have a feeling that owl was thinking "Oh no he didn't...when he let's go, IT'S ON!" Poor owl, he (or she) didn't sound happy at all :(

  • "you want a picture of it?"

  • Oh my, he's quite upset isn't he.

  • @lmbarak oh he is do not happy and that is a fact .the poor thing. i was so mad when i saw what he was doing, how would he like it if someone came a long and did that to him, I have 3 owls and when they are screech like that it telling us that they are up set OMG how could he.

  • also, if the animal wasn't in pain or being treated poorly why would it struggle and try to bite him?

  • @quasimojo8 It's a wild animal. Paranoia instincts and the fact that animals can't accurately interpret human intent dictate that when something is holding on to your legs or grasping at your body, it wants to eat you. Struggle does not indicate pain, it indicates stress, which is complete unavoidable when you bring a non-domesticated animal into a human setting.

Also, most animals do not cry in pain, they cry for help or to intimidate. Animal cries are less expressive and more communicative.

  • @Lankist Also, on an evolutionary level, to verbally cry in pain is extremely detrimental. It says "hey predators, I am incredibly vulnerable right now, come and eat me." Most creatures experience pain silently so as to avoid notice. Even humans do this. The reason that we sob is so that we can garner empathy from other humans without advertising our vulnerability to other species, like sort of a secret mayday code. If a wild animal feels pain, the last thing it will do is tell you about it.

  • @quasimojo8 because thats what owls do no matter what

  • holy shit O_O

  • what an asshole

  • Do people not know that Barn Owls screech? numpties stfu!

  • Thats not how u hold an owl,...... fucking American retard!

That guy is just scaring the shit out of the poor owl. Im guessing this guy heard "YOUR FIRED" after the boss has seen this video ^^

  • @faloc I find it hilarious that the fact that he's American has to do with how he treats animals. I know a couple Americans who are actually very gentle and very knowledgeable with animals.

You should stop being such a foreign asshole. : )

See what I did there, the same thing you did assuming all foreigners are assholes.

Grow up. This one person is obviously ill trained and needs to get his ass back to wherever it is he learned his shotty skills from and maybe pay attention this time.

  • I don't care what anyone says, have someone twist your neck to its maximum abilities while being scared shitless and see if you pull a muscle. Just let the bird show us by himself. What a jerkoff.

  • What a wanker.

  • PredatorHuntress'666', You were impressed with the handling of this animal? Okay, yes the animal is in 'close' quarters. Fine. If the handler is any good, they understand the wild animal, and can handle it properly. There is absolutely no reason to grab a bird's head and start twisting. No reason. I volunteer at a Birds of Prey rehab facility.ALL birds are handled with care, and no one, including the birds are ever hurt. It is a very peaceful place. You would notice the difference immediately.

  • Bastard

  • You want a picture of it ...LMAO....hahaha

  • OMG the poor thing.

  • Barn owl.... just beautiful. Wish we could have seen more of the face.... and more of the great colors on the back. Thanks.

  • It's a wild animal, not a show dog. I'd scream too if someone was handling me like that!

  • animal crultiy much???

  • @jennothelfer There's a difference between handling and showing.

If you had any respect for the handler, you would not be bad mouthing him like this. Is it not better to keep the animal from hurting others around him, or HIMSELF, than letting him be magnificent? The fact that he does handle the animal in close quarters, with such confidence, is impressive.

Any time you handle a wild animal, you are scaring it and holding it prisoner (what about zoos?) Really. It's called common sense.

  • stupid man

  • yeah, i don't think he likes that.

  • at the beggining it looked like he was going to break his neck, xD

  • I believe this man can handle birds but still... that scream is horrible :(

  • DONT HURT THAT POOR OWL you hear it crying so let it fly away

  • poor babe.

  • people need to chill the owl is fine. yes it's stressed out and was made to do things against their will but that happens to humans too. so don't say 'i don't get us humans sometimes.' because lots of people do things againsts their will. and he's just making sure the newbies know what they're doing instead of harming the animal.

  • @XxToKioHoTelBaBexX

Why are you comparing a large human to a small owl

  • this is animal cruelty.

  • this made me so mad

  • @lisagaskin you made me so mad

  • That sound reminds me of first day of middle school! AHHHHHH I'M GONNA DIIIIEEE!

  • @Eraklondike Hate school much?

  • You penis

  • ohhhhh its barn owl thats why it had such a terrifying screach its beautiful!

  • Holy hell you guys are idiots. He's turning the head like that so the trainees can see how far is normal and don't break the neck of the first owl they lay hands on. Diagrams aren't good enough, especially when all owls are different and if it comes to a situation like the owl needing immediate medical attention.

  • Why don't he show you a replica of the anatomy of this bird, INSTEAD of using this stressed animal that clearly does not like what is happening. Ok, you say he will be fine, but why do this when this animal is highly stressed? I don't understand us humans sometimes, because you would not want anything done physically against your will. How often does he do this just to "show" what this species can do?? All I'm saying is there's gotta be a better way.

  • @TheChej I will admit, when i first saw the video, my jaw dropped open at the blaise fashion the guy just grabbed the owl by the head and twisted it all around like a slinky with feathers. A few viewings later, it basically sunk in that, while indeed rough, they guy wasn't unnecessarily rough. A diagram might work, but, it doesn't exhibit the fact that bird WILL struggle, it WILL fight, and if nothing else, was a show of how to properly handle a owl to keep unnecessary injuries to both parties.

  • That bird is pissed =/

  • That owl i being Ill-treated. He is handling the bird with care. He looks like he knows what he is doing. Any raptors are able to do since they have such a flexible neck. He is doing no harm to that bird. And on a side note all wild raptors, even calmed down raptors are stressed when handled. That bird is perfectly fine. It's better to teach the noobies whats normal and what is not so in the future they don't end up hurting the bird.

  • @MomoHawk009 still the guy didnt have to stress the fuck out of a wild barn owl just to show something people already know.

  • @Travisdjtg Ignorant comment is ignorant.

  • Well, barn owls do sound like that. Twisting its head doesn't do any harm either, since their necks are meant to do that. This one was a little miffed by being held for so long and barn owls can be very vocal.

  • Creepy o.O it sounds like it is saying brainzzzz

  • Instead of forcing the bird to turn it's head like that what this man COULD be doing is showing a diagram of how the owl turns it's head, where the ears are and all that jazz. This bird is very distressed. Yes it's great that he saved a 3 legged pit bull but that doesn't make this bird any less distressed and scared. There Are better ways to handle an owl.

  • @kieohskay I agree 100%!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • idiota !

  • Not a happy bird.

  • I want picture of ear!

  • Stop making the turn into a bi-polar schitzosphrenic, in the mean time i'd like a wing and a drumstick with a side order of yellow eyes , and some starbucks coffee of course. . . Come On Guys, the instructor isn't hurting the owl FFS! the owl is a little moody, thats all. Oh by the way, Beautiful Owl!

  • jerk.

  • okay now these people are experts they know what they are doing and i have seen them do that before and i was all like YOUR HURTING HIM but they then said that it doesnt like being handled

  • OMG! The owl's is scared and screaming for its mama to help free him^^

.... yeah, I bet all birds would do that if it wasn't use to being held or grabbed.

It's telling ya "don't mess my feathers, dude....NOooo... DON"T MESS MY FEATHERs! Great, now I got to preen for an hour again." :)

  • Omg stop! You're hurting him. ;-(

  • @breanntheartist1989 the owl's not being hurt it's just not an animal that like to be handled and it's letting everyone there know about it. If anything it's more ticked off of being held then anything else.

  • @breanntheartist1989 It doesn't hurt them, they can move like that, it's just annoyed by this.

  • He's being kinda rough with that lil guy. :( Poor thing is frightened.

  • owls can't turn their eyes, so they can turn their heads 270 degrees to compensate. no big deal

  • wow u neggies are fucking retarded the owl is fine just pissed

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE, EAT IT TO GAIN ITS POWER

  • that seems like a very angry owl and therefor should be let go in the wild... unless it has some kind of disability that prevents it from functioning correctly

  • The Owls probably saying "GET THE FUCK OFF ME... GET OFF DAMM IT" rather than saying "AAAAHHHH IT HURTS SO BAD! I WISH PETA WOULD SAVE MY ASS"

  • He's not hurting it.

It's just pissed i=because it would rather be flying around.

Just because it sounds like it's in pain to a human doesn't mean "I'm in pain" in owl.

    Goddamn.

  • YOU ARE A TOTAL ASS WIPE DIE YOU JAGOFF

  • LET HIM GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Calm down tree-humper. He isn't hurting it.

  • he is extreemly pissed but hes just throwing a fit, i have 2 work with these damn screeching things

  • He may know what hes doing, but you just DONT do that. How would you like it if a giant came up to you and tested which way your head turned.

  • @pricture He know's which way they turn. It's just like somebody coming up to you and asking you to shake your head. our heads can turn, and so can owls. It causes them no harm.

  • @xXCrimsonVirtueXx Yeah but if someone just went up to you and physically turned your head, then you wouldnt like that lol.

  • That's a barn owl right? If I'm right, I was always told that barn owls are super vocal, but don't hoot. They screech. So really, the little guy's just doin what he does. Doesn't necessarily mean that he's hurt or pissed. If you want to hear hoots, try a different species.

  • @Loveydvy99 Yes that is a barn owl. That my friend is that species's distress call. The barn owl's screeches are actually a lot more shorter.

  • it's obvious he knows what he's doing...you can tell by the way the owl is screeching

  • I hate all the negative comments. How do you all think we know so much about animals, huh? He wasn't hurting the owl, just trying to educate people about them. Do you really think you would try an operation on a person before you go to medical school?

  • "LEAVE ME ALONE ASSHOLE!!!!!!!"

"You wanna picture of it?" creepy...

  • Owl: "Let me GO DADGUMMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTT!!!!!"

  • lol hes trying to break its neck

  • There's an owl living in a Washingtonia palm in my front yard, I always jump late at night when I hear it screech.

  • You WILL tell us how many licks it fucking takes you PIECE of SHIT

  • @samisyosam The owl is just cranky. This guy knows what he's doing, it's not being harmed at all.

  • aww poor bird

  • Let go, make it stop!!! he says

  • WTF are you doing!? D:< I don't care if you're an expert or not, you shouldn't torment the poor thing just to see how his head turns! Jerk. Leave him alone. I'm sure you wouldn't like someone twisting your neck around.

  • the owl dont seems to scream for help ! poor little bird! :(

  • Owl thoughts: Jesus Christ! You know, this is why I hate trainees. Always disturbing my beauty rest. NOW PUT ME DOWN! I am tired and I have, like, three parties to go to tonight and you are RUFFLING my feathers.

Other than that little hissy fit I'm sure the thing is fine, if not a bit peeved for having it's head twisted when it didn't wanna twist...It's like someone putting you in an arm lock for a karate demo class. You might not like it, but it doesn't hurt that much if they do it properly.

  • he's like "Stop touching me!!!"

  • is he fu*king crazy a man like this is not reported to his cruleness ? and the one you takes care of his pray will take it away from him

  • SHIT. I'd be screaming like that if the dude is fucking twisting my neck like that. Shoo...>.>

  • "oh shit....twisted its head to far....erm... er...just kidding kids! Hooter is gonna take a little nap now!"

  • poor owl, who cares if he is a professional, he still shouldn't do that, its obvious the bird doesn't like that

  • @mamayollama, agreed. I'm a Falconer who owns Birds of Prey and touching a Owl on it's neck is it's weak spot. When you get attack by a Bird of Prey such as a Owl if you grab their neck (not choking them) they will go away or let go of you. Grabbing it's neck like he's doing is hurting it which is why it's pissed off. Just because he works at a rehab center doesn't mean he knows what he is doing. Half the rehabbers barely know how to take care of a bird of prey.

  • Wow. I didn't know there were so many ornithology professors with years of both classroom study and actual field study with raptors and a good biology degree to back themselves up on youtube!

Thanks guys. We ere almost fooled into thinking this raptor expert actually knew what he was doing! Oh, silly us!

Idiots. You're the type of ignorant tards that think carnivorous animals shouldn't eat their fellow animals because it's "wrong". Horrigan: "Get a life you PETA dogs."

  • wow that owl must've been MAD!

  • Personally LOLing at all the people in the comments who think they know more about owls than a professional rehabber, while showing ignorance that even a layman can recognize.

The video's interesting, if a little short. Thanks for uploading.

  • I always wanted to see the ears of an owl! And I was also curious about the screech of a barn owl since most of the videos of them are them silent. Now I know!! :D Thank you <3

  • The people leaving hateful comments know nothing about owls.

  • I like reading the comments of people who complain and flag this video. The owl's reactions would be no different if it was a vet would handle the bird the same way. They just think that anything other than the way Jack Hannah or Jeff Corwin do things by keeping the animal 100% comfortable should be deemed a horrific sight.

  • Man listen to these screeches...i'd pluck the damn thing's head out.

  • Damnit shut the hell up you fucking morons... get a life you peta dogs.

  • "Jerk" comes to mind when seeing this.

I vote we see how far back this guy's ears can go....

I hope he is removed from his duties in dealing with this poor bird. No professional is going to crank a bird's neck around like that.

  • it sounds like it was being hurt by that guy who kept spinning its neck around! poor thing

  • @crystalwing16 That's how barn owls always sound. I took care of one that was injured and it always screamed at me. Im gonna guess that none of you haters ever tried to handle a wild bird of prey..... They arent exactly...nice and sometimes you have to move them when they don't want to moved.

  • All the negative comments, jeez, this guy knows what he's doing, and if you think he's some kind of asshole, check out his other videos, not many of you would probably keep a pitbull that's missing a leg. So I say my hat's off to you Mr. CN, for giving animals a chance and teaching others how to help them as well!

  • Thank you for your comment. This man is a leading expert of predatory birds. I was the trainee taking pictures, not the one laughing.

I get a plethora of negative comments for this video, but few on my fractious dog I rescued when I volunteered in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, of the response, or of my 3-legged Pit Bull. This video caused an emotional response, but I wish more knew that this was not inhumane and that like pigs, owls are quite vocal, even with little handling.

    Ms. CF

  • @cfinsouthbay might wanna get that giggly bitch out of the audio next time

  • How the hell can anyone treat an animal like that? This is a complete breach of the owl's trust. Can't you see or HEAR that he hates it?

    Flagged.

  • You are probably trying to show the ears of the owl. But how stupid are you, to do it like that. And then putting it on youtube.

  • What is he doing? That asshole! Let the poor ting go instead of killing it. How would you like your nek to be twisted around 180 degrees?

  • What is he trying to do? Kill that poor owl?

  • ASSHOLE!!! let the poor thing go instead of tryin to break its neck!!!

i know they can turn their heads but damn!

    this vid got flagged!

  • Comment removed

  • dude that owl looks like hes gonna kill that guy

  • OMFG

    i that guy insane

i would like to see him do that to a great owl

and then get his face turned into mincemeat

  • Flagged, this is just sad

  • dude look at him just twist his fucking neck! holy shit

  • i almost cried watching this........did he even think about the owl at all? ugh. poor thing.....

  • I was almost crying when it looked at the camera and was screeching...poor owl!!! It looked like the guy was trying to break its neck!!! Don't do that to owls!!

  • Seriously! That guy is such an idiot! Why do you think the owl is screaming at you?

  • IF I seen or caught this son of bitch doing that ever....

I'd kill the fucker dead or give him a severe beating.

That poor owl...I 'd chain that worthless fucker up by

the hands and legs and let him in a HUGE owl cage.

  • I have given this video a one star rating, even though I want to give it a ZERO rating. This video is wrong.

  • The man in this video is a loser! Why is he treating the owl like that? And to the individuals who are listening to him explain about the owl in this video, next time say something like "why are you making the owl screech in fear obviously it is scared". I have given this video a one star rating; I would have given a zero star rating but there is not one.

  • that guy is a bad man becuz he holds the owl like that and twists its neck and head like crazy

  • Lets call peta on him, maybe they terrorize him like all the other animal activists. If you think this is bad, you should see how animals are treated by animal sanctuarys and vets.

  • Yes, I agree. That's not how you treat an owl. You tell people what they can do. Not show them!

  • yes that is how the neck is but it should never be twisted forcefully like that. that could have broken any important bones in the owls neck as the owl has it stiffened in each position its in!!!

  • seriously makes me want to cry...

  • this is fucking ridiculous. i cant believe he's doing this. i'm very upset.

  • Idiot. Yeah, just put some picture on your t-shirt and that will make you expert. Fuck off.

  • yeah he clearly doesn't like that guy holding him like that and twisting him around like that...

  • WTF DUDE that poor Owl is scared, that man is like harrassing the poor thing, Barn Owls makes that sound when they feel fear, or scared, if you were that owl how would you feel if a human was trying to twist your head all the way around.

yes, i agree with HolierThanYouPSN comment.

  • It is a barn owl. That is what they sound like-- not all owls hoot.

But still! Dude, I hope he bites your finger off one day and claws your eyes out. Whether he is in pain or not there is absolutely no reason to handle ANY animal like that.

  • lol, sounds like my sister. XD

  • The owl isn't hurt, that's for sure...its neck is made like that, as most already said. I just think it was not necessary to turn it on purpose, the owl always does that to see around. The people around could have seen it turning its head naturally :/

  • I agree...even if it doesn't hurt, that's no way to treat an animal.

  • my indain ornamenatl trantula gets pissed off whin he on his log . fucker snaps at me . wild creaturs do that ...

  • I hope you get your eyes clawed out. Jerk. Leave owls alone.

  • thats a owl screech it only uses it if its scarde or hurt ther is also something callde a screech owl. mabe thats what it is

  • i sure hope it chomps your hand off, faggot.

  • well it's no wonder it's screaming like that, he's torturing it.

  • Dang dude you aint gotta twist his nexk like that how about you come her and let me twist your fucking neck like that u bitch!

  • OKAY! All of you! Here's how it is:

The owl's pissed. Most animals (people as well) don't appreciate being handled.

But! This guy is educating people about owls, which is very benificial for all owls.

Now all of you keep your unkind words to yourself. Nobody needs to hear them.

I, myself, admire that owls spunk. X3

  • Can someone please take that owl away from him? That's horrible :(

  • Yeah, the bird's fine, moving his head like that won't hurt him a bit. He probably doesn't want to be handled at the moment, but he's not actually in pain or anything. That screech is actually what they sound like.

  • tuching... .... kind of mean but still, i always wanted to know/see were are they're ears... please don't ever do that again :|

  • screams for help.

  • You stupid ass mutherfucker!!!Someday one will come and screw YOUR fucking neck-And to the girls...You'z a Hoe all of you
