I recommend a great book about Soviet involvement in Allende's regime, "The World Was Going Our Way: The KGB and The Battle for the Third World" by KGB major Vasili Mitrokhin and Cambridge professor Christopher Andrew which clearly shows how Allende was little more than a puppet of the soviets and the cubans, giving them sensitive state information and accepting political advice, money for the regime, "gifts" for himself personally and weaponry for his insane socialist "revolution".
Actually of those 3000 dead socialists, 1500 or so terrorists died in the first weeks of Pinochet's regime fighting for the criminal regime of Allende using the weapons the socialist government had illegally smuggled from Cuba with the help of the cuban DGI Patricio de la Guardia with the approval of Allende.
The other 1100 or so were mostly terrorists and criminals that were executed for their crimes in the course of the next 17 years, still far away from the 30.000 deaths of Castro`s regime.
Who we call "terrorists" & who we call "freedom fighters" all depends on who's side you are on.
However, it has to be said. Since Allende was the democratically elected leader of the country, who regained power with 43% of the vote (pretty much a mandate in a truly 3 way system) it's pretty hard to call the people supporting democracy & opposing the fascist junta being installed by the U.S. "terrorists".
Only in Orwellian doublespeak could they be labeled such.
Armed terrorists with blood in their hand, terrorists that violate your property, your rights and your liberty in the name of "socialism" can never be called "freedom fighters".

Most Western democracies are complicit in neo-imperialism. America has been the most prolific in overthrowing Governments since WWII, overthrowing around 30-50 since then.
Britain, who used to be the main culprit, has now become the junior partner to U.S. crimes, simply because the balance of power shifted in America's favour after WWII.

Actually of those 3000 dead socialists, 1500 or so terrorists died in the first weeks of Pinochet's regime fighting for the criminal regime of Allende using the weapons the socialist government had illegally smuggled from Cuba with the help of the cuban DGI Patricio de la Guardia with the approval of Allende.
The other 1100 or so were mostly terrorists and criminals that were executed for their crimes in the course of the next 17 years, still far away from the 30.000 deaths of Castro`s regime.

The privatising of Chile's public sector was done for the same reason all U.S. satellites who undertook strict IMF regimen to adopt neo-liberal policies were done, ie to allow Western firms & investors to snap them up at rock bottom prices.

Even George Bush got more votes than Salvador Allende.
Allende never got more than 30% or so of the votes, he was a joke.

Allende was re-elected with 43% of the vote in the 2nd election which is quite a lot of votes in a truly 3 party system where the vote is traditionally divided more evenly 3 ways.

Allende was NEVER re-elected, the 43% was for the parliamentary election of 1973 in which the Democratic Confederation CODE of center-right wing coalition got 56% of the vote (a clear majority).
Allend never had a majority on anything.

Allende was a socialist criminal and a puppet of the USSR and Cuba.
Today in Chile the only party openly "pro-Allende" barely gets 3-4% of the votes, which proves that none wants to remember his illegal and terrorist regime.

If you watch the video you will read that even the CIA says that Allende was not puppet, he worked for the chilenian way to socialism, which means a new democratic socialism... like Evo

Chile is the 11º most freest economy in the world, the days of socialism and state control of society are long gone.
If you read the declassified KGB intelligence documents, the interview with members of the cuban DGI and the lectures given by KGB general Nikolai Leonov (2º in command of the KGB during the 60s and 70s) at the chilean CEP you will see that Allende was a marxist puppet that supported political violence and accepted MONEY and WEAPONS from the USSR and Cuba.

Allende was a puppet, he didnt have the power over the militant members og the UP others did and they did fight with the illegal arsenal they had smuggled with the help of the cuban DGI.
However, Allende did give his signature and approval to the smuggling of cuban weapons and the economic and military support of the soviets so he knew what was happening.
I agree with Kissinger in the sense that it was better for Chile to be free of socialist oppression.

Allende didn't support political violence at all. He didn't have to. He got into power peacefully & democratically.
Please show us the source KGB documents that demonstrate that Allende was on the KGB payroll. I've shown CIA documents that admit he had no ties to Moscow.
Besides, the internal record clearly shows that the U.S. didn't overthrow Allende because he was a Soviet Puppet (they knew he wasn't), it was because they were afraid of a "rational Socialist" regime.

Allende politically supported violent terrorist marxist groups in Chile like the MIR, the MAPU and the VOP. He also granted asylum to terrorists from other countries like the argentinian "montoneros".
The UP as also gulity of smuggling weapons from Cuba to arm these terrorist groups thanks to the cuban DGI.
Allende was elected "democratically", like Hitler, what happened after in violation of the laws and the cosntitution.

Hitler was not simply elected democratically to the Leadership position & there are no comparisons to Hitler (a person who killed 10 million in executions & death camps) & Allende (who tried to enact some mild social reform).

My sources come from chilean newspapers, the declaration of the Supreme Court of justice and the Chamber of Deputies of Chile that denounced the support of Allende`s regime to political violence, from Allende himself when he started to grant pardons to terrorists, from confessions from the socialist terrorists themselves and the cuban officials that were responsable for the smuggling of the thousands of cubans AK47 to Chile.
