  • Patti es una de esas artistas que rompen fronteras con una precenscia lindisima en el esenario de esas artistas que hoy en dia no existen mas, es un lujo poder tenerla y disfrutar de su musica su poesia y todo su talento.

Patti is one of those artists who break boundaries with a very pretty in the esenario precenscia of those artists that do not exist today but is a luxury to have it and enjoy his music and his poetry all his talent.

    Saludos from MEXICO CITY.

  • I would have loved to have been there.

  • cool very great..........

  • we'll miss you, R.E.M.

  • Má q droga! Tem um corte no meio da canção! affff

  • My favourite REM song

  • Rock and Roll at it's finest

  • Wow!!! Beautiful. One of my favorite REM songs. Wonderful, too, to see that Patti Smith hasn't gone chasing after her youth with ugly face lifts, mega-heavy cosmetics & too young for her age clothes. Fabulous to see them all live. Thanks so much for posting this video.

  • i heard that the band all agreed that the night they first recorded this, they were all speechless after the first playback

  • will you live to 83, will you ever welcome me ?

  • She stole that show.

  • Just for River. Miss him so much. Thanks Michael.

  • Fabuleux, et quelle humilité de Patti Smith !

  • 4:39 - 4:46 - Stipe really looks like he's in awe of her. It's like you can see him thinking 'I listened to your albums when I was 15 and now I'm here on stage with you, performing a song that I wrote'.

  • @bfdhvcnvvbjdn "And I totally wish I was as pretty as you" :)

  • Grand.

  • MagnfiquE AVEC pATTI

    MERCI BEAUCOUP

    BELLE EMOTION

  • Wow great video, thank you for posting.

  • thank you fantastic

  • This song makes you realize how mesmerising Michael Stipes voice is. He could be talking nonsense and you'd still be listening. :)

  • @Waz24

    same applies to patti smith

  • thank'you

  • Great voice of Patti Smith, but clearly it looks like she is high...

  • @mabelpq

yeah, indeed, she messed up some parts but still she s awesome

  • R.E.M.....is cool, but Patti Smith sucks the life outta this show

  • i don't get patti smith at all...

  • AMAZING

  • Superbe !! Merveilleux !! Magique !!! pas assez de mots ... <3<3<3<3<3

  • I love this song, and this exhibition is so inspired!!! Thanks for posting. Although you can clearly see and hear a slight skip in the video at 2:39, which is quite bothering because it spoils such an emotional moment...

  • patti sounds magnificent~FAVORITE rem song. dylanesque.

  • Brilliant REM song. Love it! :)

  • Think this is the BEST rem song ever? Love the lyrics? REM are just brilliant? However i cant help but wonder weather Michael looks alittle ill over the years? xxxx

  • I'm wondering...if this was in '98 why isn't Bill Berry playing drums?

  • He quit during the summer tour. This was filmed in November. Hope that helps :-)

  • Bill Berry left REM's in 97

  • just awsome... thanks for uploading

  • The lyric of this song was said a letter written by michael stipe to his friend, the late "river phoenix". Love the song!!

  • also - thanks for the posting, i take you over...

  • Thanks for the posting. This is a great song and performance. I forgot how good of an album Hi-Fi really is.

  • Hi-Fi is really a brilliant album. It didn't get the hype that Out of Time and Automatic did....but it's a far better album than both imho.

If you haven't listened for a while....crank it on a decent stereo and enjoy the magic!! :)

  • So much respect. Love them together.

  • this song is definitely one of the greatest and most memorable in my life....the lyrics are perfect and the two of them together...perfect.

how lucky i am for this beauty!!

  • ooooopss sorry

  • when was this?

  • splendidi...

  • If I wasn't such a dickhead songwriter, could do stuff like this... too bad I am such a jerkface mofo

  • Think we are all agreed people that this was rems last great album???

  • This song is AWESOME.

    I'm totally shivering.

  • Never forgotten this great album!!

  • This song was for the late River Phoenix.

  • I agree. This IS the best video of all time. Timeless.

  • I vote this Best Video of All Time.

  • Also, I always think that it sounds like Michael Stipe is singing 'Adrenaline, Princess Leah'- as the album mentions about films stars and feels like it's in love with the iconography and love of the road of 1950s-1980s, set to a 1970s 'double album' kind of length, it seems appropriate that a 1970s film character should be mentioned even if it doesn't seem in context in that line. Anyway, I know what the correct lyric is.

  • I remember reading that E-bow the letter's lyrics were written a bit like Country Feedback. New Adventures in Hi-Fi is in part like a mix of the country rock of Out Of Time / Automatic for the people with the rock of Monster.I seem to remember reading that the title of the album is partly a joke because the album is quite deliberately 1970s road rock in part but it really does have new experiments throughout,it sounds like a lot of hard work went in to it and it has pretty much all great songs.

  • Wonderful... but they could have given her an extra mic so that they could sing together.

  • aluminium tastes like fear,

    adrenaline pulls us near

  • me fez chora

  • sarà pure la regina del punk ma è proprio un tegame

  • oh my GOD. the high priestess of punk herself!!!

  • this is my favorite video of all time. since i watch it constantly... i thought i'd say thanks. ~peace

  • Wow... that was incredible.

  • Im moved

  • Όλα τα λεφτά

  • sono già passati 11 anni. Grandiosi.

  • This show was actually October 21, 1998. I was there, and I have the ticket stub and set list to prove it. :)

  • Do you guys know what is this song about? I don't really get it... (I'm not english speaker) thanks

  • It had been written for River Phoenix, the blond actor dead in the early nineteen's.

  • Do you know if there is a message in it or a story? I mean, I've read the lyrics....but I don't get anything from it : )..... I like the song, but the lyrics might have a deeper sense than the one I find...

  • I like a lot this song and probably the lyrics has double sense. It was a letter written from Micheal stype to River before he died...I've never translated the song in my own language

  • gracies!!!

  • Come on REM (i luv you ) but my pathetic AGILITY american cocker spaniel site is catching up :) :) in posts

  • amazing combo!!!

  • The original song is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs in Rock . . . her "tone" is just spot-on brilliant.

  • THANKS SO :) for reinstalling this version, a nice christmas treat, more power to you

  • You're welcome! I'll be posting the whole show soon, so check back! I'll make sure it can be viewed in better quality too.

  • @remfanUSA LINDA CANÇÃO!!! POESIA EM FORTMATO DE MUSICA. SIMPLESMENTE PERFEITO. ESSA MUSCICA ENTRA NO FUNDO DA ALMA

  • Thank you for this also - Patti did a better job on this than in 2005 in Hyde Park, London - the duet never seems to work live, unfortunately.
