  • getting a vi trains version soon

  • @hornbytrains98 you will love it!

  • am 10

  • I have that loco

  • i have just got this model from ebay for £40 with 2 virgin mark 2's and i think there is a 4 group for peolpe that want the loco because operator or the loco it's self i got it because it was cheap it is virgin and a class 47

  • i just got one of these on ebay for £34 with 2 virgin mark 2's

  • and with that $40 thing, i have a railroad LBSC 0-4-0, whic cost me $52.40, which is kinda expensive for it, so you brits get a better deal

  • nope, here is australia i have seen that engine going for more that AU$100, which i quite a lot, as i only really get limited money

  • its a really nice loco but when will there be a video on the new layout

  • im getting one of these for christmas

  • @blackfive5687 - they're basic but great runners!

  • @InterCity82 thanks, that really helps (not being sarcastic or anything, it actually helps!)

  • @InterCity82 I seriously recommend the Bachmann class 416 2EPB EMU - Never seen a multiple unit with so much detail! Please do a review if u have time!

  • did you ever do what you said you would? if you could post a video it would be a great help to me in my next project with a delctic

    thank, nathan

  • @Natbilltv - like many of my other videos, it's in a queue and will be uploaded as soon as possible. That's the best I can do. I'm sorry.

  • @InterCity82 oh its no problem i getting my deltic at christmas anyway thanks for replying

  • it looks like old lima mold qaulity

  • @UKxGREENY - it is part of the Railroad range and basically a budget, entry level model.

  • it looks like old lima 47

  • What shall i get , vi trains class 47 in virgin livery or the new hornby dvt in virgin livery.

  • @SmashBangCrash - ViTrains Class 47 - it's very impressive :)

  • Do you recall if this locomotive is DCC ready?

  • @thebritfarmer - alas, it is not.

  • I do not know if you noticed but the number of this class 47 has the same class 47 number as your Vi-Trains Intercity class 47 (47 844) :)

  • can you do another vid to show what you done to her

  • @toffie702 - I shall do, in time :)

  • When it has detail , lights and been weathered can you make another video

  • @SmashBangCrash - sure will! :)

  • where did u buy it?

  • @mossbrookbaconboys - Hattons

  • this is the one im getting on friday

  • I was cracking up rotfl when you said "squeeze till you can feel the bogies. That sounds rude doesn't it.

  • LOL 7:55 "Squeeze till you can feel the bogies. That sounds rude dosen't it" XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD Hillarious.

  • Will you chip her after the lights are added?

  • @MegaTrainlover -probably do the 2 at the same time

  • What is rubbish about Ringfield Motors?

  • @MegaTrainlover - they're not rubbish but they're old and only 3 pole, not 5 - so they're not very smooth by today's standards.

  • @InterCity82 I used to have a Hornby loco with a Ringfield motor. It was fairly old aswell from around 2001. When i ran it in DCC mode (Silly me) the motor started burning and it burned out. I then got a replacement for it because it was a loco that has been re-released.

  • very nice, love them class 47's especially in Virgin livery =D

  • My mate hornbylad1000 has this train I like using it a lot it is in virgin trains

  • would you recomend her to any one?

  • @BR75069 - definitely. The detail may well be lacking (it seriously is) BUT it's perfect to experiment with, to weather, to upgrade, to use for spares, or to just make it look abandonded and ready for scrap on a dead realisitic layout. This model can still be picked up for less than most coaches cost - there's no excuse not to get one and play around with it! :)

  • I Have One Of Those!

  • My cousin made this dirty and fitted lights and detail and a DCC chip with a bot of work!

  • cool

  • What is the red loco on the right in the DMU sidings?

  • @modeltrainmad12 - I think you mean my Jubilee class steam loco in LMS maroon livery?

  • Just one more question! What colour powder do you use for weathered diesels? Thanks (sorry for being a bit of a nusance!)

  • @SuperJimjoe - you can't do it with just one colour. You need a mixture of blacks, greys, oranges and even some reds and whites. That way you can make any loco look very realistic.

  • Hello, i just won a bid on one of these for about 32 u.s. dollars! also i was wondering how many coaches she could pull?

  • @tpe18509 - well she can easily pull 8 - and most people rarely put on more than that unless the layout is huge as it can look a little silly.

  • @InterCity82 Thanks! :) im construction a new layout hence the temp. layout vids and its going to be about 16feet in length should maybe 4 coaches look good?

  • @tpe18509 - You know my steam loco Falcon? The A4 Pacific? Well I have 6 of those 'Heart of Midlothian' coaches for her and she looks awesome with them! So I say at least 4, maybe 5, upto 6 coaches looks good. :)

  • @InterCity82 Okay thanks! :) i'll do a unboxing vid of herre when she comes probably be a couple of weeks as i live i united states.

  • The Hoenby Railroad range is a very for people that have just start out on model railways and for people who can not afford the mane kine versions .

  • Calum643- It is a Standard Class 4mt 4-6-0. Also, Intercity82 where do you get the powder? Thanks

  • @SuperJimjoe - local model shops and off places online

  • What do you weather them with?

  • @SuperJimjoe - powders and fine glue

  • @InterCity82 ok thanks!

  • I need help identifying a train! She is a steam loco and her number is 75078 she is also Bachmann, please Help.

  • @Calum643 - use google and wikipedia :) I do

  • well thts wot u get 4 24 quid

  • Sulzer + Brush = a class 47! Thats a proper loco!

  • You havent been posting that many model videos lately. Havent not gotten a lot more or are you holding out until you have a lot?

  • @Peppurr1 - I'm posting a minimum of 2 videos per week with one of them being a new model. I want to make my videos more regular, as opposed to uploading 20 reviews in 2 days and then nothing for 3 months.

  • Once again, another wise purchase, I love the class 47...although mine has got a broken bogie so it doesn't work at the moment... I have tried to take the body of to re-wire it but it is an old Lima model so do you have any advice? If need be I can make a video to show you the problem :) £25 is very god value for money!! Did you buy it from a chained model shop? Its a shame she has a Ringfield motor... it is Railroad though :( Oh... she was a gift! Brilliant video though :) :)

  • i got a class 47 just like this which came with my Rayol Mail trainset, it came with 2 virgin MK2 coaches and a Royal Mail pick up and drop off car

  • @NodFlareon - ahh yes I think I know the set you're on about. Cool!

  • Ok thanks, i got lots of trains for xmas!

  • i reckon that railroad is also just the older stock from Hornby. i have a catalogue from around 5 or 6 years ago and at least half of the railroad range was listed as a normal product. the evening star, county class, GWR carriages. the whole lot.

  • You could also put some lights on your 08 shunter!

  • @T0pper221 - use it to pull excursions probably :)

  • Nice loco. Cheap yet decent models(mainly of diesels) are easy to find here in the US as well. I find it kinda weird, though, that the gave the range (railroad) a US name. Also, if you think 275 pound is a fortune for a model, some US steamers with dcc sound and what not cost up to 856 USD! I'm american, and even I like hornby better than most brands in the US. I will definitely consider ordering one of her kind...

  • @KnapfordMaster98 - thanks for the comment! I would never pay silly money for a model train :) ever. There's no need really. I think £200 tops, for an amazing train pack is about my limit. Beyond that and it's just daft. But I guess it's a case of how 'into your trains' you are lol

  • @InterCity82 Very true. I cant uderstand how some things cost a ton and people buy like 17 of em. Some coaches here cost 87 USD! You UKers have it made.

  • All Railroad stuffs is basicly Lima stuff I think.. Some good Lima models are grouped into the normal release but they never get into Super-detail group.. I mean, according to the "Super-detail" standard of Hornby even "Single-wheeler" such a basic loco that can be S-d, I think the ex-Lima Class 67 that you got can be..

  • @hkbfkmb - hmmmm, the class 9F is not Lima. That's a completely new model with a new motor and new pick-ups. As I say in the video, the Railroad range is a budget range of locos and stock for people. Some of it is amazing (like the 9F) and some of it is very average (like this class 47). But it does all represent good value. As for the super detail stuff, well some of that is good and some isn't.

  • *packing of Bachman thomas & friends* NOW THATS ONE HECK OF BAD PACKING!

    XD

  • Nice video :) Ithis was the second train I had when I was younger, got it in a set with 2 mk2s and a Northern Spirit pacer :) Cant remember the name but it brings back memories :) I think compared this the Vi Trains Virgin Class 47 is better as it goes for £45ish wihich is what the Hornby one RRPs at. Nice bargin grabbing it that cheap though :)

  • When your Hornby Collector's Club 2011 model gets to you, will you do a review? Wait. Silly question, I know you will. :P

  • @crazyracer12 - lol yup, a review will be done.

  • You do really good reviews! You have a lot off locos to.

You could rename your house to railway world!

  • @trainman665 - haha lol, hmmmm I'll think about that.

  • Where some of these models not former Lima models I know somme of the Railroad accessories where from Lima.

  • @Maasdam1993 - you mean 'were'? Yes some of the tooling is re-used. This again helps to keep costs down, which is what the Railroad range is all about.

  • You really do have a thing for the 47's don't you? I can see 7 related vids from you starring the 47. :P Lovely review, as always!

  • @donaldengine9 - yeah the 47s are nice :) really beefy locos lol

  • i like hornby railroad better because it doesn't have as much detail on as the standard stuff. I find that the detailed stuff breaks and falls off at the points all the time at high speeds. i have to run all my locos at high speed because my model railway seems to be on a really steep gradiant!

  • Do you only upload vids on friday?

  • @Calum643 - no, sometimes a vid is uploaded in the week. But a vid is always uplaoded on Friday.

  • Is it powerful? Also, which Class 37 do you recommend? I don't mind which livery. Thanks

  • @SuperJimjoe - tests on her haven't been carried out yet. As for the 37, I like Vi-Train's model, in any livery you want/can get.

  • always gotta think about that price!

  • Great Video

  • will you be doing updates on your refurbishment of her?

come to think, ill be in that group. eventually but i want ews for now

  • @eanat11 - I shall do a follow-up video on her yes. Once I've modified her.

  • @InterCity82 okie dokie. knowing you you'll throw in a massive suprise and shock us all-ur channel=great!

  • Is it DDC Ready ?

  • @romainloveusa - You mean DCC ready? No, I don't think so. I wouldn't have thought so for such a low price. If she is I will be very surprised.

  • looking forward to seeing it finished with the light and the weathering, nice loco,i will keep an eye out for that one my self..Thank you..

  • dont be mean im kid

  • Good review!

  • they are $100 in australia, thanks for that quick conversion!

  • @stuggit1 - import costs and taxes may have made her that price. Think what she'd be if she wasn't $40 to start with then?!

  • omg

  • 40 dollars! Awesome! Problem is if I can just find it. Great review as always!

  • I think you should get the hornby class 56 dcc sound it is so cool:-)

  • I have two great big torquey 550 motors sitting here, and I'm just wondering how much of your rolling stock they can pull ;)

I suspect all of it. Motor conversion!

  • Great stuff Will as always :) I got the RailRoad 33 for xmas... fairly good, but not as good as my usuals :)

  • @Javelin395 - Hey Jack :) A 33 hey? Yeah they're ok but you're right, you get what yoy pay for :)

  • wow thats a bargin, How are you getting on with the railroad 37?

  • @scotrail47 - a video of her will be uploaded in time. I have that many videos waiting tho, and that many waiting to be done - who knows when it'll be uploaded.

  • @InterCity82 I know the felling :)

  • Greatvideo nice ;loco mpotive might gt one get some virgin mk2's. :) it would look very nice along gner trains on my layout.

  • I got this engine and she's amazing maybe the best ive got apart from my class 153....Great Vid Will ;)

  • @dilwich123 - thanks! Oh yes, those 153s are amazing. :)

  • are u geting to hornby Tornado?

  • @LegoArtsProduction - I doubt it but who knows! :)

  • what equipment are you going to be using to weather her? And cheers for telling me about that website, i'm definitely going to buy lights off there but mainly for lighting coaches:)

  • @hobbyman1995 - I might experiment with weathering powders and chalks actually.

  • Nice video

Ive Got a railroad Class 08 and i Soldered a chip in it and now it runs really good .

This Was my first chip i had to solder into a loco.

    great vids

i might get a railroad class 47 or a4 mallard.

  • @EastCoastHST43300 - well done! :) If you can do that your skill level is definitely getting good.

  • @InterCity82 cheers im going to get flying scotsman in hornbys railroad range

  • Good to see that Hornby have at least improved the packaging a bit, that paper they used to use was useless.

  • nice i will be getting this model then get it weathered, 5***s

  • @jaannetts16 - awesome Jaike! :) We can compare models in the future when we've done them lol

  • @InterCity82 yep sounds good

  • do you always go for hornby more than bachmann?

  • @ShaurntheSheep - Hornby just do sooooooooo much more than Bachmann. Plus they do stuff that's really inespensive and stuff that's very expensive where as Bachmann tend to hover around the middle. Plus we have not been pleased with the Bachmann Virgin Voyager or the class 57 or the class 150.

  • @InterCity82 In what regards do Hornby do more then Bachmann? Hornby seems to be concentrating more on Steam and specifcally southern steam in recent years however modern image is lacking, this is in fact the 3rd year in which they are not releasing any new diesel engines. Whereas bachmann currently have a variety of eastern region and western region steam engines not to mention there larger selection of modern image locos and multiple units.

  • did u notice that it was missing a virgin logo at 1 end u could take the other virgin logo off or you could add another virgin logo,i got a old 1 of theses and it seems to rest on the left side of the bogie if you know what i mean great review hope it goes well

  • Trying to get back into model railsets, I saw in another video you had an automated light which would stop the train if it was on red. How did you achieve this? Was it through DCC?

  • please do a video of her when you've do all the detailing etc

  • Does it have Working Lights?

  • @ipodwindow - no, unfortunately not. But to put them in would have obviously raised the cost. It's quite possible to fit your own tho, indeed I have to my other BR blue class 47 (video coming up)

  • Another awesome review :)

  • @theLEGOcommander1 - thanks mate! :)

  • I have some locos that having bogies, I have seen this loco in my local model shop for £12

  • @Class59Cameron - brand new? if so that's incedible and actually operating non-profit lol. It doesn't sell for that wholesale lol

  • @InterCity82 Yes it was brand new!

  • could u do a video of it when u have done all the work u want to do

  • i did not know they had one of them in the railroad range ??

  • I will be weathering my one of these and fitting lights these weekend... Can you put a DCC Chip in it... Is it DC ready? Sorry I lost the box and the instructions

  • oh yea, can u brand it with virgin stickers

  • @alexamltd - you sure can :)

  • i have that one but my one is older

  • are you geting the london 2012 loco?

  • @legoBWairlines - there are no plans to. No.

  • i have an old hornby one, its better than the rr one, but a worse runner

  • Great opening as allways, i am 13 but i very carful with my models, i have to be with some £200+!, i wont be getting this hornby 47, as i not a fan of the railroad ranges, as i got good money, and i love detail, so il be getting the Bachmann one in RES.

  • @itgamer100 - There is no gap in the market for premium class 47s. ViTrains and Bachmann have that covered very well. Hornby have filled the gap at the lower end with this model - and that's ultimately good news for all of us. :)

  • well for the price its good but i would rarther have the 37 considered and i wish hornby had modeled that 47 on one wich has a name and i wish hornby had at least bothered to do a front headcode i mean come on its not exactley going to snap off

  • @MrJezza31 - no, but it costs more money. It's easy to do all those things, but it drives the price up, and suddenyl, it;t not a Railroad model anymore. What you want is premium class detail for budget price, and that just isn't gonna happen. The beauty of models like this is there is no premium price, but you can make them as good as you want. Or just leave them as they are. :)

  • I have a class 47 model aswell

  • @Trainspotter8094 - ace same livery?

  • This Train Looks Very Good For A Railroad Loco

  • @nintendoalien479 - yeah it's not bad! :)
