yeah I always thought drugs had to have been involved in the writing of the concept for the Mario games. I agree also the princess was the best toon to play with in the second one and that one is probably the most trippy of the classic Nintendo games.

Super Mario Bros. 2 was actually a game called Doki Doki Panic that just had character sprites swapped to include Mario and company.
Apparently, we are dumb Americans and the real Super Mario Bros. 2 was too hard for us, so they had to give us an easier game.
The real Super Mario Bros. 2 is part of Super Mario All-Stars for SNES, called Super Mario: Lost Levels.
