This is one of several really stupid scenes in the movie. A good soldier respects an enemy soldier, especially a brave ones like this German soldier here. Of course the story is made up, come on, everybody knows that. But what is it good for? Violence as "entertainment"? Spitting on international law as "message"? "Wehrmacht soldier = Nazi = all German soldiers were nazis"? What's Tarantinos' problem?

The movie - and this scene in particular - is sickening gory. Besides, the unarmed POW that is murdered here, is Wehrmacht, not SS - and it is a breach of the Geneva Convention, enforcing more than rank and name from a POW, not to talk about murdering them in cold blood.

It's not promoting anything. It's exploring a fictional take on history; meaning that the plot and individual characters are made up, but the events from history are not. Movies are made for entertainment and to evoke powerful emotions. The rest is up to individual interpretation. If a movie makes you think, that's a good thing. If you act on what you think, that's even better. A good movie doesn't tell you what to think. It makes you think for yourself.

Tarantinos idea is so obvious that it insults intelligence: Nazis are evil. So who would dare to complain about war crimes commited against nazis? Who would dare to complain about a festival of nazi-bloodshed?

Well, I am not a nazi but yet I do. This movie is a catastrophe. It abuses the Shoah as legalisation for sadism and appalls to the lowest human instincts. And as if that weren't enough, Tarantino even puts the jews on the same low level as their enemies.

The answer is we don't. We don't kill killers to prove anything, but to punish an unpardonable crime & to rid society of that individual. The film doesn't seek to show Nazi evil, but to encourage viewers to ponder whether or not savage brutality in the name of justice can itself be justified. Obviously the film may reflect Tarantino's views. Film is his form of creativity/self-expression.

I don't see a proper court, judge, verdict,e either. Or a society that wants to get rid of this particular POW.

What I see is not "killing", but open sadism and self-justice.
