Did everybody miss that Danny De Vitos Character syas I luv you to Spaceys Wife..Its why He's so guilty. He keeps askin Spacey how much he'd do for Him.. At the end he says,He just left..Then says I luv you too!!
ManLaw4Evr, why do you think he was talking to the guy's wife? Have you seen a script?? I'd love to know if that's how it's written, because I always heard it as the DeVito character talking to the Spacey character. Bob is the one that "just left" - and Spacey is the one DeVito says he loves. It's not illicit. It's friendship. But ... am I wrong?
@RecollectedLife No I didnt read the script..This is based on a Play.I remember hearing that. Its why De Vito talks with Spacey throut Movie about how much Spacey would do for him.De Vitos filled with guilt.Spaceys wife is on the phone.De vito said" you just missed him, he just left". Then He says, I luv you too!!
So ... this is your reading of the play/movie's lines then? (All my favorite movies are based on plays, I think. It just makes the dialog so tight and clean!) I've not had that same interpretation. I think the two guys are really that deeply bonded as friends - and the final conversation is between them, and the reason the Spacey character calls is remorse over losing his temper. (He doesn't call Bob because Bob's not worth it)
@RecollectedLife No!! Spaceys character left.He duznt call bak Bob.De Voti, is Bob.He says, no you just missed him. He's not talkin about the kid..I know this from the behind the scenes i watched. Can't remember name of play.I saw this Yrs ago.De Vito, Bob, is thouroughly depressed and guilt ridden..More..
@RecollectedLife In prior concersations between th 2.Bob, continues to ask Spacey, what would he do for Him..Would he die? Spaceys confused.I get you think Spacey may have called the rm.if only to apologize to the kid..Not the case..Watch De vito hesitate, then say, yeah, i luv you too..
@RecollectedLife I also remember watching the making of this movie.Talked to Writer, Director etc..Thy mentioned that initial viewing at a film festival, most didn't get what happened either..Yet, it is directly from the Screen--Play...
@RecollectedLife Its way old..I saw it on an HBO clip..One of those where its 15 Mins..What I'll do is find the Movie and write what Screen-play is called..The you can google that..maybe it gives insight..
But Phil misses a subtle point about a conversation. Its a two way street. Both parties are interested in what the other has to say, but gives their own opinion in return. Thats a true conversation. However, there is a difference between steering a conversation (monopolizing it) and being a part of a conversation. Its not necessarily true that Bob steered it, but rather brought up the issue of christ to espouse his own beliefs.
so Bob went to talk about lubricants but ended up talking about Jesus!! lol thats pretty much one of the most random thing i've ever heard..irony seems to grow on it.
even though.....i dont know if its Bob or Peter Facinelli but ive gotten the hots for the guy..ok its Peter Facinelli lol
This is the best movie for me,,i just love it ,all casts are brilliant....And by the way SMUDGEMAX...your comment is so funny up there hehheheh,,,i will avoid bob too..loool
wow i can understand only german and a little little bit english but the film is so easy but he says so much its great and i love peer facinelli (bob) thanks for this movie!!!!
I hate it when people don't do their job. He got paid by the company, not by god. What a f**king moron. This has nothing to do with god and everything do with an incompetent human being.

Thanks for posting this. It is an important work. I know that people think that posting movies like this is ripping off the artist, but I saw a part of this movie once years ago and I regretted that I hadn't watched the whole thing, and now I'm gonna figure out how to buy copies of it and give to a few friends and relatives for Christmas. I realize, even now, that this will seem like a preachy act, and maybe it is, even now I regret it, but I'll do it.

Did anyone else get the sense that Phil was the human while Bob and Larry represented good and evil respectively?
BetaScience74656 2 years ago
No, not at all... these are the three stages of a man's life: the idealistic youth, the pragmatic middle-age and the comtemplating old age.
At the end of the movie each character seems to advance one level. (DeVito being finally at peace with his mortality.)
