This game is fun! I love it so much, i have the SNES version.
High Speed Dimension or Stage 7 all ways kills me, even if i use that cheat to activate all your powerups at once, it still kills you. I think there's a trick to HSD though. There's a bonus stage in it and if it's passed i think you get through the stage then. | Stage 4 is also a life killer sometimes. It also lags the game at one point XD because there's so many things on screen at once the SNES engine cant handle that. Fun times...
Do you have a PlayStation Portable or a PlayStation 2? If you have a PlayStation 2, you can get Gradius III arcade with Gradius IV in Gradius III And IV, or you can get Gradius III arcade plus Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius IV and Gradius Gaiden in Gradius Collection for the PlayStation Portable.
I warn you though: if you're not a highly experience Gradius player, Gradius III arcade will murder you. No matter how hard I try, I can't get past Stage 3(the game has 10 Stages). It's that hard.
I think it's safe to say that Arcade Gradius III is one of the hardest games of all time. The cube rush area alone trumps a TON of hard games/areas of today and yesteryear.
Except that it doesn't really come close to Gradius III's difficulty, especially if you have Instant Respawning enabled and have played long enough to get Free Play instead of a limited number of credits. Gradius V does come close to Gradius III in terms of the amount of crap thrown at you, sometimes even surpassing it, but it's more forgiving than Gradius III.
If I had this game, I would totally try my luck and (hopefully) kick its ass and not the other way around ^_^

Yeah, but, Gradius V isn't a walk in the park either.
