Im going there tomorrow to salute them near the dike im from Hemmen, now live in Rotterdam but happens to be there fight was close near my birthplace! So thanks to them i dont speak german! LOL
@TheGoldenEagle19 Simply because they have a real education system (as does most of Europe) and not that bad joke we got back in the states. Most Europeans I know speak 2 or 3 languages fluently.
@TheGoldenEagle19 I'm not dutch but I know few of them . I think that they speak well just because they start to learn as kids. When I was in Holand I watched TV & the first thing I noticed was that they don't translate movies and there is no dubbing too . Original movie with subtitles in native language . Sorry if my english is incorrect. I'm still learnig it .
My country desperately needed liberation from the most evil system mankind has ever devised too and it were those young brave American, British and Canadian lads who had to do the job for us. Major Winters was certainly an outstanding, remarkable military leader but let us not forget all the other unnamed young men who sadly had to go through hell as well. Without them, I wouldn´t have grown up in a free Germany. Thanks and RIP Major Winters.
they all deserve to have everything they want they were true heroes i salute to all of easy company who was afraid but always got the job done and rest in peace maj Dick winters you are with the men that wasnt able to come home. 101st i give you guys the up most respect and i always will your story will never die true american legend
Thank you once again. I have been viewing many Band of Brothers videos on youtube and their respect and love for the Dutch people is very apparent. Apparently this goes both ways which is great to see. America sent it's young to Europe to fight for freedom, and I very much appreciate your thoughfulness.
Thank you very much for sharing the site. Memorial fitting but NOT BIG ENOUGH! RIP BOBrothers great leader and an example of what a humble leader really is God Bless you Dick Winters. RIP shalom
Dear Mr. Donkersloot, My sincerest thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness in making this tribute to Dick Winters and his men! After 65 years, it is heart warming to know people stll pause and remember their history. You will be in my Rosary daily along with Dick and ALL the men of Easy Company. Peace be with you! Kindest regards.
awesome video! nice to see that folks still have respect for the lives that were given there for the cause of freedom. God Bless all those serving their country, past and present, and all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
I paid a visit to the Crossroads on Friday while doing a tour of the Netherlands from the UK. This video is fantastic. Thank you! and I am please to say the memorial has been replaced!
Thank you for making this video. Most people today in the U.S. have no idea about the sacrifices made by American soldiers in Europe. It is good to know that the people of Europe know enough to make a monument in remembrance of their heroism.
Very nice tribute and viedo.....was there about two weeks ago ...very moving tribute to the 101st men who fought there. The Dutch people are so friendly and helpful in my travels. Came for the dedication of the Windmill in Eerde....great week of salutes to all who fought for liberty & freedom. Thanks for sharing this with us....... TCUNC65
Thank you for filming and posting this. I have read Dick Winter memoirs many times and watched BoB over and over and it's interesting to see this view of that location.
For those who doesn't now it yet, Bernie van Doorn and Rijacco Hoogendoorn replaced a new monument last week! There are a few changes, but to me, it is really beautiful! It's really worth visiting!
Look for the exact place of this assault on google maps. Search for Hemmen Netherlands and find the crossing of 'Randwijkse Rijndijk and Renkumse Veerweg south of 'de Rijn' . You also can search for ' Randwijkse rijndijk 6' and go 500 meters to the left (west); there you can see 'Crossroads' and also the monument of this event. The adres of Schoonderlogt is Valburg - Logtsestraat 4-6.

A few days AFTER the whole Crossroads story, F/506 lost men near this spot -about 100 yards towards the former the mill-. There is more to history, than the pop-history of BoB. Have been at the Crossroads during the early 2000's with the original BoB Tours, it was great to see the veterans react to the hype. 'The amount of Germans we fought, are growing by year. And now they're all SS !'. Lest we Forget all the efforts of all the Companies, Regiments & Divisions !!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I love seeing historical spots the way they are today! Definitely a very important spot for all of us who love Band of Brothers!

@MrTragiiKz Makes you upset that he's dead doesn't it? One day (1st of January) he was here, the next he was gone..also makes me ashamed that I never knew about him until I got the mini-series.
Thanks so very much for posting this. I have studied Easy Company a good bit and missed seeing this area when I toured their battlefields in 2006. So sad to have lost Major Winters this week, it is a consolation to see that this area is now so beautiful and peaceful, as it so richly deserves to be.

Thank you for your video tour of the crossroads. I can't wait to see it for myself the next time I am back in Europe. To view the ground where so many died, yet where so many fought with such valor reminds us all of the cost of freedom. Thank you for this video. - Lieutenant Alex J. Longo
@alexptube Thank you Lieutenant Longo. If there is any other place that you would like to see on video, I am more than willing to go there and shoot some cxlips. biside the Crossroads, I went a few mile further to Estate Schoonderlogt (depicted in the beginning of episode Crossroads when Winters with Lewis in their jeep arrive - it looks exactly like that) where Winters iconic picture was taken. Warm regards, Pim donkersloot
Also look at Schoonderlogt, a video clip from the Schoonderlogt Estate where Dick Winters shared a room with captain Lewis. See you Tube: Schoonderlogt

Thank you from America, my friend. You are showing us places many of us will never get to see. We're about to celebrate Memorial Day here and how fitting to come across this now.

Thanks for the honor for this great hero. Probably from what I read this moment showed his leadership the best - it could have gone so wrong.
