  • great choice of screenshots. I have to see it one more time

  • this is one of my favorite films of all time - Kubrick has a real sense on how to scare you, not only visually, but psychologically as well.. Not like modern horror, which has to throw buckets of blood and gore at you - Kubrick relied on the audience's imagination, and fear of the unknown to really elevate the suspenseful tension throughout this whole movie..... btw - that picture of the twin girls standing there is still as creepy as it was the first time i saw this movie.

  • es angustiosa e inquietante

  • I am very young (13) but this movie is really good and show with an incredible talent the psychologic fall.

  • who the fuck put 1 dislike,i really want to see him :)

  • I want this as my wedding march. I'm weird like that.

  • music for connoisseurs of the macabre and the 'wonderful secret ...

  • Love this movie so much! its so twisted one of the best ive ever saw :D

  • it seems to me the music is scarier than the story

  • Here's Johny ! ....

  • @MasterLouisSG DAAAVIID LETTERMAN!

  • When I watch this movie, I began to be scared when I hear this music...well...it means just at the beginning ! OMG ^^

  • I swear it! I´ll swing the Ax, if they should ever remake it again! Heeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeeee´s Johnny!!!

  • Well... This is a remix of Totentanz by Franz Liszt, isn't it?! Nice music anyway.

  • @KaiserTotentanz Not really. The theme of totentanz is a dies irae. Berlioz too used it in his requiem. You can also hear it in the film Motropolis by Fritz Lang.

  • @glemoine14 Really??!! I love Metropolis (and Fritz Lang too) but I don't remember that theme. Anyway, I have to watch the new version (2010).

    Merci.

  • The best horror movie ever. I've seen a lot of horrors and i don't understand why people call 'The Exorcist' the best horror. The only scary thing is girl's make-up and the story is pretty boring. Jack Nicholson didn't need make-up or something to make this movie scary. He just played it amazingly.

  • @PrettyVacantsWay I think the exorcist is the scariest horror movie ever made but that doesn't make it a better movie. Many critics place "The Shining" in the top ten(all genre) best movies ever made. There's greatness, genius and a hidden beauty in itself.

  • I'll say The original Halloween is not really that good. The Shining is fucking brilliant, epic and has a scarier theme.

  • Sehr Geiler Film... Hat gut geschockt und so...

  • Great movie. I just read the book and both brilliant but very different. I will try the Stephen King produced tv series. Both amazing in own right though.

  • One of the best movies ever, but what would it be without Nicholson (Heeeeere's Johnny)

  • some of the creepiest music ever

  • Listen at 3:33 from the famous theme "Songe d'un nuit de Sabbat" from the french composer Hector BERLIOZ... ;) !

  • goosebumps

  • One of the greatest motion pictures ever made.

  • @Q8iDude this is the best horror movie ever!

  • Good soundtrack for a very good movie!

  • i watched this film when i was like 5 years old and it scared the shit out of me i need to watch it again though lol because i hear its very very good

  • lolu wouldnt have came to this song if u didnt like it!!

  • i heard this track last night on the classical radio station on the way home from the sports bar, raining hard here in Dallas, it went well with the weather

  • This would be the elivator music on the way down to hell xD

  • They totally stole this from witches sabbath by Berlioz. I know because it's one of the only times as a cellist I got to play the melody. lol

  • @lizzyluvzmusic yep! they also used it in the movies Nightmare before christmas and Sleeping with the enemy

  • @lizzyluvzmusic Berlioz in turn stole it. It's the Funeral Music for Queen Mary and is 300 years old!

  • this sounds like what will be playing in hell

  • Darkness and beauty lie hand in hand apparantly.

  • 2:35 epic

  • @sheynoo 2:35 pic is a spoiler.

  • There are no thumbs down on this video, probably because people are so scared from the spooky consequences of doing so.

  • @artconva Do you comment about the "dislikes" of every single Youtube video you watch, or do you people take turns doing that?

  • @artconva but this is honestly not Carlos fault.

  • @artconva Or Delbert Grady, who is so kind, came and... corrected them... before they were able to thumb it down...

  • A Stanley Kubrick Film

    Jack Nicholson

    Shelley Duvall

    THE SHINING

  • Totentanz.

  • The melody of this is from the Latin chant "Dies Irae" which talks about the end of the world and was used for Catholic funerals.

  • This is amazing. I still hear this song in my nightmares, when I open my eyes and I can't move my body but I see shadows shifting around at the corners of my eyes. Sometimes II see a huge shadow sit right on my chest and suffocate me and it feels like I'm going to choke from the hands of this entity. It's pretty crazy but this music is completely evocative of that dream. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing a glimpse of hell.

  • It's amazing what the right music can do to

    a movie.

  • Hector Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique Fifth movement: "Songe d'une nuit de sabbat"(Dreams of a Witches' Sabbath)?

  • Copy Paste music from Hector Berlioz fantastique 5th mov...

  • @moschiii exactly the same in first seconds

  • Original!!!

  • ORIGINAL!!!

  • ORIGINAL!!!

  • ORIGINAL!!!

  • To add to the "weirdness"... Wendy Carlos the composer of this track... also did music for "a clockwork orange" (another Kubrick film) under the name Walter Carlos. Do the math.

  • Creepy, old, cold & menacing.

    Great stuff.

  • i want all the tracks.. where and how can i.. been looking now for years gave up and now...

  • @earthsunlover Wendy Carlos actually wrote all the scores for the movie.. of course the theme is a remake from the witch's sabbath by berlioz... wendy and bob moog came up with the first vocoder used in clockwork and later on the shining.. but look up Wendy's stuff on amazon your bound to find it there..

  • @earthsunlover most of the soundtrack videos posted on Youtube were taken from a soundtrack CD I compiled, probably 13-14 years ago. I gave them to a few people and it was apparently duped a million times since then. I know this because I truncated and faded out several of the pieces for time concerns.

  • great!!!!!!!!

  • buen video, ambas me gustaron pero esta me dio un poco mas de miedo jeje

  • this is the movie with best horror music of all the horror movies i have ever seen

  • Great pictures!

  • I like it :)

  • its so creepy 0_0 just wat i needed :D

  • ooooh goosebumps!

  • That part sounds like somene's crying, which makes this soundtrack even more freakier... 8S (3:02)
