  • I loved this book.

    It really touched me.

it just shows the power of bravery.

  • You did hit the nail on the head, Jeanette....after my daughter read the Glass Castle, she said to me, " Boy, when I read this book I realized we kids really didn't have it so bad after all."

  • she says the same thing everywhere.. im getting bored of her memorized speech

  • why is it called the glass castle?

  • @lifesagift123456789 well her father would always tell her and her siblings about his dreams of hitting it rich, and when they did he said he would build them a glass castle.

  • @lifesagift123456789 read the book and you'll see

  • reading it now and loving it.

  • I couldn't put it down, in fact I'm really pissed off that Hollywood hasn't made a movie out of it- just goes to show that Hollywood has no more scruples left

  • @skinnybubblebutt well said!

  • this is a good book... trust me!

  • I know. I absolutely love it :)

  • i just finished the book. i loved it. wish i could have her right in front of me to ask a million questions!

    A++++

  • look for her website and save $ so you can attend one of her speeches.

I wrote to her in care of the publisher, that address is found in the front of the book.

Now, please read: The Carny Kid, by Kenneth Kahn

  • thanks for suggesting a book ! hopefully its good, i was looking to read another one !

    thanks !

  • your are welcome, I love to pass on great book titles!

Next one: Miles From Nowhere, Barbara Savage....................DO NOT read the back cover or anything about this book on the internet. It's the story of a couple who rode their bicycles around the world. Your library system has it or request it on inter-library loan.

  • great thanks !

  • i'm reading the book in english class now. i heard paramount's gonna make it into a movie

  • this books is awesome!! and thanks Jeanette for responding to my letter!

another awesome book is: Love You to Bits and Pieces: Life with David Helfgott

  • I'm surprised she wasn't so malnourished she got sick. All of her siblings were survivors.

  • It's such a good book. I love it. She's a fantastic writer.

  • i agree! like her life was so different that im glad she put it into a book. !

  • I've lived a similar story but the truth is still the same we are all touched to accept the truth of our past and move forward in a positive manner someone special showed me that.

  • I could not read her book fast, like I normally would other books. I kept putting it down, thinking about it. Everything she says is true......

  • Jeannette Walls is an amazing person inside and out. Thanks for sharing. =]

  • That was a great book

  • just read it 4 college what a great book

  • After hearing about this book, I thought it wasn't for me. Boy, was I wrong. I highly recommend "The Glass Castle". It is a remarkable story: funny, shocking, and inspirational all at the same time. How can someone be neglected and blessed at the same time? Only by reading this author's story can someone possibly understand.

  • it's easily one of the best books i've read too

  • what a wonderful woman. such a strong spirit to have gone through all of that

  • The Glass Castle was absolutely amazing.

    And so is Jeannette Walls.

    <3

  • This has to be one of the most inspirational books I have ever read, right up there with Frank McCourt's memoir, "Angela's Ashes." Ms. Walls' continual optimism and determination in the face of such adversity is something we can all learn from.

  • yes it's an amazing story about amazing people

  • Thanks so much for posting the video. I just finished The Glass Castle and was thrilled to find the author's comments on YouTube. What a great book -- and author!

  • i am so glad my teacher assigned this book to us...it's amazing.
