  • it was totally a scare tactic, time proved it was.

  • keep in mind a year later here we are and the city has over 10 million more than last year, the city did not dry up and blow away, we still have a city and police and fire stations, retired city workers are still getting their pensions and disability payments, it was all a scare tactic, nothing bad happened and this was voted down.

  • We need to throw these current bums and get people who know how to manage money in. These guys have overspent for years and now they're whinning like babies. Less taxes means less government...I choose less government!

  • Try paying 2000 a year for property taxes you guys got it good and I think that what you get for your taxes is great. 100 more a year no brainer to have a safe, clean community. Do it.

  • Most people enjoy living in Colorado Springs and feel that they should all pay their share of the costs. Apparently, you think there is money hidden somewhere that will pay your and my share of the city expenses. I would appreciate some positive comments about where all this excess money is and how they could have spent it better instead of pointing fingers at everyone else for supposedly bad decisions.

  • hold on a minute linda, i own 5 homes here , i beleive i pay my fair share.. what do you concider fair share? is 6,000 a year in property taxes fair , or maybe we could be like new jersey or new york where people pay their fair share at the tune of 12,000 a year in property taxes, what do you concider fair?

  • Sucks when the most passionate people are the ones who are the least informed and the most ignorant. Got what you wished for, now its time to sleep in the bed you made. 5 houses, amazing then you actually know what a mil levy means and you actually understand how low our property tax is. Thank goodness people like you fill our city.

  • Tonytonytee needs to get his facts correct. He mentioned the USOC deal but doesn't know that the USOC brings in more money than the deal will cost the City. Colorado Springs needs all the help that it can get right now. Tony only posts negative comments rather than solutions to the problems. It's easy for him to oppose 2C because he's not forward thinking. What happens to all those parks and buildings without maintenance? It would cost $6M to resod the parks if we let them deteriorate.

  • so let me get this straight, the city government did not give 34 million to the usoc? see where i am confused is if they really need money why are they giving it away, where is all of the money that the usoc is giving back to the city because i just do not see it . telling they city to be fiscally responsible is not a negative comment, it is living in reality which is not what our city government has not been able to grasp a concept of. time to live in financil reality city government.

  • The USOC and the governing bodies, such as USA Boxing, bring approximately $3.4 million in tax revenue and 3,200 jobs to the City each year. The City's annual payment will be $1.8 million for 30 years. If the City had said "no" to the USOC, the city would have lost another 3,200 jobs and $3.4 million in revenue per year. The good news is the USOC has agreed to stay in Colorado Springs another 30 years or pay us back if they leave early. They were indeed fiscally responsible.

  • what is really funny about this is that jerry heimlicher wanted the 2c tax increase and now he quit the city council and is moving back to tennessee where there are cheaper taxes than we have to protect his financial intersts, yet before he leaves he wants to raise our taxes. actually there should be no budget cuts, according to the city's own data on this issue revenue is not supposed to go down in the next 5 years.

  • I own a home, and I frequent parks often when I go running or visit farmers markets, I love Rock Ledge Ranch, and I used to take the city bus to Hillside community center a lot when I was younger. Even though times are tough (especially for my household) this measure is worth it for me. Those who oppose, just mull over how it will affect others in the community. If you still oppose then get your buns out in the community and start loggin in those community hours, gawsh do something!

  • colorado springs just in the past few years built more parks and put millions of tax dollars into them now they say they can not maintain them . america the beautiful park was a good example of this. why did we build more parks if there was not money there to support them i must say i appreciate that the person that has this video up does not erase my opinions because i am opposed to 2c . that is very honorable that my comments are included and not deleted. i appreciate that very much.

  • actually i am not against police or fire or parks, i am against city government giving my money away to special interests such as the usoc. it is not the taxpayers fault that the money was wasted. also you are asking for 10 times more than what we are in a deficit for. why would you ask for 10 times more money than what the budget shortfall is. also takle the revenue generating cops of the motorcycles and have them fight crime . it will give us plenty of officers to do what they should do.

  • in the beginning of this video they are talking outside of the pioneer museum, the lady that is standing beside jan martin says it will cost the average house $2.50 a week , in the end of the video it says that it will cost $210.00 a year or 4 dollars a week. they do not even know how much they are asking for. 2 conflicts in one video. $2.50 a week is $130.00 a year.. $130.00 and $210.00 are very different figures.. no wonder the city is in trouble financially.

  • Mary Ellen clearly states that it will be $2.50 per week in the first year. There is no subterfuge here. Everything is clearly and explicitly outlined. If you disagree with with maintaining funding for Police, Fire, the parks and similar city services, please comment accordingly. Attacking the manner in which the information is presented is not conducive to an honest and open dialog about the future of Colorado Springs.

  • what people really want in colorado springs is a responsible city government that is wise with dollars and does not give them away to special interests. was this video made with city equipment ?

  • No, this video was not made with city equipment.

  • what we really want is the city to be responsible with the money they have . giving it to the usoc and special interests is not what we want . it is not the fault of the people that live in the city that the city overspends money. our own city manager can not pay her property taxes and is going into foreclosure and this is who they are hiring to manage my taxes.. why would we give more money to city government when we continually see them piss it away on their pet projects and wasteful projects

  • 290,000 Steves in Co/Spgs paying $61.00 a year thats $17,690,000.

    113,464 pay 2x what Steve pays a year, = $12,707,968.00.

    113,465 Steves pay 3x = $20,764,095.00 total $51,162,063.00.

The Mill levy tax should it pass, will go from $61.00 a year to $124.

    290,000 Steves will pay $35,960,000.00.

    113,465 2x = $28,139,320.00.

    113,465 3x = $42,208,980.00.

Next years budget $106,308,300.00.This is just the first year.

Co/Spngs is not going to become a Third world country.

  • who's music is being used on this video .. its great .. !!!!!

  • Fabulous video. We need to support this initiative; I don't want to live in a third world nation. Colorado Springs is so beautiful and is truly God's country and we should support the infrastructure to keep that beauty.
