the blackbird in my opinion would be the most kickass airplane if we could fix the fuel sealant problem and outfit it with a bomb hangar so it can launch missiles. and its already basicaly invisible to radar so no worries there and it is completely black so it would be difficult to see at nigh. if we could get this plane to be attack capable it would be awesome.

IMO, this aircraft is the greatest aeronautical achievement of the 20th century. It is beyond astounding that this craft was built in the 1950's! Kelly Johnson was a genius.. The SR-71 not only accomplished it's mission, it was beautiful AND stealthy as well.. Amazing for the '50's! I wonder though, how were fires prevented with it's fuel leaking on the runways?

It's funny how people get amazed over this. Building a fast airplane is nothing shocking, especially these days. We could build an airplane that could go 10K miles per hour if we wanted to. The problem isn't in the engines, it's in the materials that can withstand the heat and friction generated from the enormous speeds and protect pilots from killer G forces. However, I'm sure Lockheed has something beyond cool in the works now that beats this thing out of the water.

@FullM3tal7ack3t sort of, uav infact is a spyplane, and so is the sr71 blackbird. however the sr71 is manned, the uav isnt (Unmanned Ariel Vehicle). The Black Bird is also a lot fast, and made many many years before the current UAV Predator. The SR71 goes a lot faster and a lot higher then any aircraft in the world (besides the X43 and X15 which are operated by NASA and are unmanned).
