  • Piano solo cut off = fail

  • I love this man...he's so f**king cool.

  • I'll love Aladdin Sane. All day and night long. Yes.

  • who doesnt love aladdin sane?

  • Always loved that piano solo, pure genius

  • I recall reading the current issue of Circus/Raves mac in the Summer of 1975 and reading that David was filming a movie in secret with Nick Roeg...we saw it in APRIL 1976 ,pretty sure...TORONTO...going by my mem, Station to Station concerts made up for it all...Oh yeah baby.......it was so,so...but the massive black and white Return of the Thin White Duke, (references to cocaine of course)

  • Met him twice seen him live over 30 times since 1974...a wonderful fellow to chat with...he is extremely funny..a real joker type...love Toronto,Canada...visits here all the time..thanks for the mems!

  • @repelghosts i am utterly jealous!!!! I would literally amputate my left foot to have seen him in the 70's. Did you see the Diamond Dogs tour? No don't tell me,it's simply not fair.

  • the first albun i bought in 72. my hero

  • Bowie is the fucking different in music and personallity, magical, spacious, weird... ARTIST!!! True and phenomenal great ... He is Spider from Mars!!!

  • Mike Garsonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn luv ya x

  • oh David bowie, you beautiful, beautiful weirdo!

  • Better than the mainstream shit we have to ''accept'' now

  • @lippy170 david bowie wasn't mainstream at that time. he only became kind of mainstream in the 80s with "Let's Dance" and everything. most good music is relatively underground. that was true then, and is true today

  • Beautiful piece of music

  • Lad or lady ... isn't the same ambiguity?

  • Who will love ... a lady insane! great Bowie, a perverse genius!

  • @angeloraim Not lady, "Lad".

  • can u please tell me if ziggy stardust and aladdin sane are the same?????

  • @Toxiejunkie

Bowie said that Aladdin Sane is just Ziggy going to America

  • @eraepsekas so i guess the same right????

  • @eraepsekas

    same character i mean.

  • @Toxiejunkie

    yes

  • @eraepsekas

    thank u sir.

  • This song - ingenious. And accompaniment of the Garson has helped it with it.

  • Bowie used Wakeman to play the parts where he needed a real keyboard player. The parts Bowie couldn't handle himself. Rick played on Space Oddity and Life on Mars and all the way up to 1971. From Aladdin Sane Mike Garson took over because Wakeman started in Yes. Bowie knows how to pick the good ones!!

  • amen lovecheif, i'm 56 and have been enjoying his music all of my adult life and some in my teens ;)

  • WOOO-HOOO...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The marvelous new reinvention of David is occuring through his grandchildren: Kristen Stewart, Lady Gaga, and Robt Pattenson. As these children discover this wonderful music, it is a beautous journey of rediscovery as well for their parents. Required reading: Charles Shaar Murray and David's own modern harmony in Stage Anthology. Yassassin.

  • @flagascaro but GaGa is a talentless bitch

  • @flagascaro You are out of your fuckin mind , my freind

  • we are lucky, we have a god still among us....long life DAVID BOWIE

  • @RyutarocKxxx oh yeah:)

  • Bowie, the first name down on my dream dinner party guest list & I've never hosted one.'Beans on toast do David?'

  • I will always love a aladinsane xxx

  • Be your wife

  • Bowie has been on my music shelf since I first heard his music over 35+ yrs. ago, Fame, Cat People theme song, Major Tom are all stuck in my head on rewind for life.

  • Divine Androgenous being...

  • ha ha. who can make a mullet look good.....bowie

  • how can you not apriciate the brilliance of David jones( bowie) with out him millions of artists wouldnt even exist in the way they do now e.g lady gaga speechless brown eyes very bowie and very glam

  • I grew up listening to bowie and after i saw labrinth his role as a childhood icon only grew. He truely is a great artist

  • wonderful video, captures the spirit of the man , the legend, thank you..

  • Video is not this song, the video is from the song Sorrow.

  • @mikblyth partially there are also other clips in it

  • Who will love Aladdin Sane?

    Maybe Cy Kiatrist?

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. JONES!

  • meraviglioso!

  • BUT,Mick played piano on countless other Bowie songs, and was instumental in the arrangement of this pie ce.

No Knock to Garson, ( though that will be addressed later) BUT, and this is a big But, many of us who were Bowie fans since Ziggy & before, really feel that Garson really influencned Bowie in a negative way, and actually detracted from his creativity at the time.

Just a comment from a fan of 40+ years who witnessed the CHCHCHChanges

  • @adjusteratlarge

That's crazy. Throughout the Ziggy Stardust album, Mick Ronson goes plonk plonk on the piano like a musical carthorse. Garson's a proper pianist - creative and original.

  • @adjusteratlarge how did Garson influence Bowie in a negative way?

  • @adjusteratlarge What? Please check the liner notes from Hunky Dory to see that Bowie used Rcik Wakeman early on. Also, the Beeb videos from 1973 have Bowie playing the piano himself, not Mick. Due to a fight with Mick, Bowie took on the piano on Diamond Dogs, then used Roy Bittan on STS. So, 1) Ronson, if he played some piano it was minor and 2) the Garson piano is part of a line of pianists that Bowie used - and is the best of the bunch in my humble opinion as a 50 year old Bowie fan.

  • featuring david bowie!!!

  • the face of a women..wicked man...

  • Wow, the piano at the end was intense.

  • @PinUpModels

That's Mike Garson on piano. He has been working with David Bowie (on and off) since the 1970's, when I first heard him in 1973. If you are interested, check out the David Bowie 1995 CD "Outside" and the track "The Motel", also "Lady Grinning Soul" on the 1973 CD "Aladinsane" has some beautiful piano playing on it too.

  • Did Bowie invent the 'MULLET' ? Only HE could make it cool !!!

  • He was surviving off cocaine and milk when he made that song. Which is why he looked a bit weird.

  • classic footage! thanks for sharing!

  • Mike Garson is AMAZING on THIS recording!!! He never did receive his warrented share of recognition and praise as a collaborator, because he was over-shadowd by Mick Ronson ( which is typical,.. in rock music keyboardists dont tend to receive the same kinde of adulation which guitar players do ) but, let it be said, that his contribution to Bowies music was most crucial and often spectacular!!!!

  • Rock and Roll the meaning:

    -react

    -penis position opinion

  • he made performing so much fun.

  • his face and bone structure is a bit alien-like...

but I love it. EVERY PART OF IT. I want him.

  • I was supposed to comment that

  • LOL I LOVE IT

  • this is such a great video!! i love this song so much, and david bowie is wonderful as well. i love david bowie! :P

where did you find these clips?! please please reply <3

  • oh my GOSH i love this man :D

  • GRANDE DUCA!!!!!

  • I'll love Aladdin Sane.

  • i love david bowie

  • one of my favourites of his

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • We laugh a lot insane

  • beautiful!

  • Maybe you all know, Bowie's half-brother really was a lad insane, suicided in a mental hospital circa 1982.. Terry. rip

  • Most everyone I think does know this. However, Terry was not in the hospital when he died. It was a train station. This is a great video. :)

  • its kinda cool on how the song 'Alladin Sane" is a anagram fro A-Lad-Insane. I love the concept, very Ziggyish indeed!

  • Perfect.

  • Bowie .......at his best.....

  • Mike Garson is my hero!

  • I first heard this tune when I was 10. It was a soundtrack to my dreams and it still is today.........

  • a lad insane

  • I am 51, African American who started listening to Bowie as a high school sophomore. I am from a very musical city (Memphis) and will say that Bowie is a musical genius. Period!!

  • dONT THINK, U AINT THAT BRIGHT....

  • At least I know how to use CAPS LOCK.

Its not an insult, just an observation. You must admit. Although he did have Luther sing backup on Young Americans.

  • Amen!

  • @thelovechef Up with you!!!

  • @thelovechef great comment, period!

  • @thelovechef as someone turning 21 i will like to conclude that Bowie is a classic timeless artist for as long as music goes.

  • @thelovechef I agree.

  • @thelovechef Odd that. When I watch Gail Anne Dorsey play, I don't think "African American". I think excellent bassist, tremendous feel for time.

You're all right with me, William, my brother. You're a man and an American.

  • @thelovechef I know you've waited a long time for a reply. But. Cool comment ;) Merry Christmas x

  • @thelovechef beautiful words, Bowie IS a genius, it hurts to be such a talentless nobody like mysel f lol !

  • this song is so mind blowin'.those were the days i guess.

  • Simply a Rock God!

  • Ill tell ya who will love Aladdin Sane, ME!! I LOVE HIM ALREADY!! Love you David Bowie! <3 xoxoxo

  • 2:52-2:54 What does that remind me of?? It's buggin' me!

  • seeing as the video doesn't go past 2:32...

  • Old film look fits the mood and the song is great. I am a big David fan.

  • i need help. my friend is a big david bowie fan but i don't get it. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but why is david bowie such a great artist? what is it that people see it him. is it his lyrics?

someone please fill me in reply back to this

  • My friend is the same way. We're a bit in the same boat here...and I guess it's A) his sex appeal (if your friend is female) and B) they just love his music. I'm not sure, because I only like a few songs (the few that I've heard) of his, but I guess the only thing you can do is give him a chance. :)

  • get some music taste

    Bowie is the greatest ever

  • his early stuff though im much less impressed with his later work.

  • Wow, glad to hear you ask instead of just making some negative comment like so many others who are not open-minded enough to just ask! Partly, his music is interesting. His lyrics are not trite or dull, he has a good use of language, the rhythm and style is not cliche. He has a voice that goes directly to the limbic system (hence the sensual/sexual response so many have). He is beautiful to look at in that androgynous way. And he has a phenomenal sense of humor (check out some interviews).

  • he takes a while to get used to...kind of like beer, its an acquired taste. i love him for uniqueness and for never being afraid of being what and who he wanted to be, his lyrics are also very interesting and he has so many talents beyond just music.

  • @youessea4life not to forget the brutal hotness and the songs' instrumentation.

  • @youessea4life True. Exactly like beer. Takes a while to get used to, then it only gets better and better. :)

  • i jbn jbkjo jj jknjojp njpjf bv ujiojhbi ijhuhvf7b jhiohji98-9 ijbbui9jhb huih ji alian

  • This song is really great ! :)Bowie is so cruel ;D

  • i dont know.but you are fucking georgeous mate.how one can be so beautiful above any one else is a mystery

  • beautiful!

  • what withoout Bowie ?:p he is still alive ! i love him ! he is so handsome ! :D

  • this song is really awesome ! I love Bowie !

  • He flipped me out when I was 10 years old as Ziggy and I've followed him since.... the world is a poorer place without Bowie - before him there wasn't much - after Bowie, there is nothing much. His talent just comes from the most mysterious place. Truly touched by Almighty God! Bowie is the business.

  • "without Bowie"? ... he's not dead....

  • Awesome vid...this is such a classic album!!

  • What a evil look....I love it.

  • Ok this is some sexy ass footage here. Some of the best shots, slowed down, yum. Great work!

  • this song is as good as any Bowie wrote and played. His voice is perfect for his music...

  • Yes, A-Lad-Insane....always!

  • Fantastic piano by Mike Garson !!!!!!!

  • oh YEAH. He's fantastic in general and especially on this album.

  • I love David! He`s a legend!

  • this is such apresh lovely eerie song

    what a great album

  • This song has been pounding around in my head for days I aM obsessed with the lyrics they are fuckin genius

  • We'd probably get along pretty well, since I can claim the same (obsessed with this song).

  • yes what part of this song haunts you?And are you familiar with one of his best friends Marc Bolan

  • The feel of it right from the beginning.. the piano and casual lilt that it has.. and his soft vocals. The piano really gets to me and I am not normally into the sound in pop or rock music.. it just works so well here. I am "hit" with the lonely theme of the song.. It's hard to articulate what *it* is that haunts me.. it just does. And yes I love Marc (RIP).. since 1972.

  • very cute video, and of course, Bowie always looks so handsome on the vids

  • Muy bueno, puto y jodido Bowie, no tienes el reconocimiento que te mereces.

  • Nah I just don't like when people write it like that.

They must think it's clever. :)

  • Keo, you must be the only person on Earth to whom the literary pun of the name "Aladdin Sane" was lost.

  • Lol! Very nicely put.

  • I could love a lad insane

  • it is

  • or the crocodile solution finally

  • He was soooo beautiful!

  • What can you say? He is the most inventive rock performer. What an imagination to create this song. Everyone gets obsessed over the title, but what an album: Drive in Saturday, Lady Grinning Soul, Watch That Man, Panic in Detroit and then this song. This has to be my favorite Bowie song - the writing, the piano, --really fantastic!

  • what is Sane, Aladinn!!!!! lol

  • Who can not love alladin sane?

  • I agree. Great tune. Love the mental piano solo

  • well done ...we love Alladin sane!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've been a Bowie fan since the beginning. It's a shame this song is missing the final part.

  • Probably in my top 5 of all times favs. So delicate and subtle. I fucking love it.

  • omg omg omg OMG he is so sexy! I love him!

  • This is one of the most touching choruses

I've ever heard, the things that wonderful

creature did with his voice is not mere

    singing, it's divine Art.

  • I second that request! You've done a brilliant job! Arrgghhhhh!! *Drool*

  • Hey Captainevita where did you get these clips from? Please tell me.:)

  • I'm pretty sure all the clips are from the 1980 Floorshow, except for 00:35-00:39. And 00:40-00:47 were clips from the Life On Mars? video.

As for this video, it's awesome. I love it. :D Great use of the clips, a wonderful song and a fantastic artist. Five stars for you.

  • Thank you! Do you know where I can download them?

  • Sorry, I have to comment again and say I WILL LOVE ALADDIN SANE!

  • I absolutely LOVE David Bowie. You did such a good job on this video. He is so sexy.

  • Marry me David!
