@FunfarProductions NO!!!! go to YourHomeFolder - Movies - Motion Templates - Generators... Create a new folder for now: SC_Generators; once that's created, drop the entire Aperture folder inside that folder. Restart FCPX. You should find it in fcpx in the Generator Browser > SC_Generators > Aperture. You can rename the SC_Generator folder to whatever you want later (when fcpx is not running!)
@FunfarProductions inside the generator folder, did you create a Category folder (or use one of the folders already inside — like Backgrounds, Elements, Textures, etc.)?? You have to move the entire Aperture folder inside one of the categories (inside Generators) in order for FCPX to find it (otherwise, fcpx just thinks it's mis-configured and will ignore it.) You have to move the entire Aperture folder as well so that the supporting files with be "bundled" with it. HTH
@FunfarProductions If FCPX was running when you installed it, you should restart it. Otherwise you should be able to find it in the Generators Browser. Try looking for it in All (top of the list -- any possibility it got accidentally dropped into another folder?)
@EssentialSightStudio Yes! Set the Scale to 100% and the Blade Opening to greater than about 55%. The effect scale will be larger than 1920x1080 and you can just apply the lens flare feature.
@TonyIsGaming Your "homefolder" is your User folder. Open a Finder window; under "Places" is a little house icon with your Username with it -- click on that -- In the list of folders that appear, double click on Movies -- Inside that folder will be one called "Motion Templates" -- This particular Motion effect is a generator, so double click on Generators. Inside Generators, create a New Folder and give it a category name, like Favorites. Place *this* effect's folder inside that. Restart FCPX.
@TonyIsGaming No problem man... I figured you might be new to Mac -- I'm actually surprised you're jumping in with some heavy duty software right off the bat! Good for you! It gets easier—really fast. Try to embrace the differences, most of them are very cool (even if they might take a little getting used to.) PS- I will prob use installer packages from now on (just learned how to put them together.)
Installation instructions should be in the ReadMe file. To recap: [quit FCPX] find the Movies folder in your "home" folder. Inside that is a folder called Motion Templates. For this template, find the Generators folder inside and open that. Inside there are folders with *category* names like "Backgrounds". Create a *new* folder with a category name you like: you could use anything you like (like Favorites). Drop the entire Aperture folder inside the folder you created. restart FCPX. HTH
Yes! Easy. Select the Aperture clip. Go to the Inspector and click on the Video tab (between Generator and Info). In the Compositing section, keyframe the Opacity. You can also change the blend mode for the generator (several of which create interesting effects.) [Blend Modes cannot be keyframed, though.]
Move the playhead to the position you want to make a keyframed motion. Set the keyframe. Make the *change* to the motion... in that order!! FCPX can really mess things up if you change any setting that is *not* keyframed. I posted a video about keyframing effects in FCPX (Final Cut Pro X Keyframing Tips plus Upcoming Effect Intro [sorry: can't post links in comments]) -- there's a couple of tips in there that will really help (although I apologize in advance for all the boring stuff.) HTH!
@FunfarProductions No problem... It took some getting used to for everybody!

Hé there,
I found the problem but I don't know how to fix it...Finalcut doesn't seem to safe the keyframes so even after rendering the lensflare doesn't move!
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks man I really love this effect !

Great effect, but unfortunately the keyframe motion doesn't work even after rendering!...Any suggestions?
