yes they are the same if you play DOA3 it is revealed Ein is Hayate its just that Hayate didn't remember anything but then after you beat Ein's story he remembers then he says I am Hayate and that's it really

He's in Hitomi's Storymode, last Fight, why - because they had to make a good reason for her to fight.
