  • this is sooooo cool! I am here for a test. Who else is here for a test? We watched this in my history class.

  • CROSONT!

  • this is an amazing docomentary :D

  • world history homework D:

  • Thumbs up if your watching this for Mr. Benschine's extra credit assignment :)

  • To be clear, I am here because of plain curiosity as well as a desire for a better understanding of how civilization has progressed, certainly not because of some test at a public school, college or any similar state-funded institution.

  • Why isn't this kind of thing on History any more? All of what is on it today is crap

  • @cardcollector6794 i know! it's insane, History Channel needs to change their name.

  • Horreurs!!! This tissue of lies is about what I expect from The History Channel. Read Nesta Webster's The French Revolution: A Study in Democracy. You will weep for the lives lost. I don't suppose they had the guts to show that the secret societies such as the Illuminati fueled this misbegotten tragedy! No, the myth of "the people taking their destinies in their own hands" must be drummed into our dear little ears once again.

  • @Tindomerels Fuck u

  • Now we have shit like Ancient Aliens. History channel, I am disappoint.

  • History channel ftw

  • I was told this was about 110 minutes, but this seems to be shorter than that. Is this the whole thing?

  • 5:52 FML lolol

  • We watched a bit of this in class today and I have to see the rest of it.

Thanks so much for the upload.

  • Im here to learn about this time period because i derive satisfaction from it and find it fascinating, not because i have to regurgitate it later on cue in an exam like a fucking parrot doing parlour tricks, get a pat on the head then give myself airs for the rest of my life.

    Independent Study FTW!

  • Final Exam...

  • this shit is gay

  • The french revolution did NOT bring bread "to the poor"; it didn't bring bread to anybody for that matter. The situation after all that bloody time became WORSE than before. And that aftermath was an emperor Napoleon. One man with all powers. democracy? oh please....I like Napoleon because he finished with the anarchy. The revolution filled just the fantasy and the imaginary. It did accomplish nothing.

  • OMFG, MY AP WORLD HISTROY TEACHERS MAKING ME WATCH THIS N ANSWER A SHEET OF Q'S 4 HW. LIKE WTF?????? GRRRRRR

  • @LaughinChocolate same, do u go to neshaminy?

  • @brucesvenne

'Danton' - circa 1982-3 directed by Andrej Wajda: brilliant acting with Depardieu, brilliant directing. All of it.

  • @brucesvenne tale of two cities? It's a really famous book and there has been film adaptations of it. The one with Dirk Bogarde is good.

  • Thanks for doing my revolutions exam for me :)

  • Nous devons , nous français refaire une révolution pour virer encore une fois toutes ces élites corrompus qui pourrissent l'europe !

  • Thanks for uploading this. I always miss the first part of this documentary when they air it on TV.

  • Antoinette was a redhead.

  • 5:49 FML

  • 1:56 BOOBIES!!

  • The American Revolution of two thousand...?

  • the French Revolution was financed by Jewish bankers English and German. so it's not a revolution but a coup d'etat of Zionist Jews. and it's been 200 years they lead France. and now they run the West, find out about BILDERBERG and you will see our leaders

  • @freoltic

Well, it looks like they had a stupid strategy. France today is very socialist with lots of civil servants and its taxes are very high, especially if you're wealthy. In fact, the minimum wealth-tax threshold hasn't changed in generations (it's still below a million). France is a great place to live if you're poor, lazy or disabled. Why wouldn't the wealthy Zionists simply pay off the monarchy to support their ambitions? Your idiotic conspiracy theories never make any sense.

  • Thanks! This really helped me finish my goddam homework!

  • this is gonna happen in america

  • Thumbs up if you think Edward Herman is an awesome narrator.

  • @TucoRamirez2 it would be epic i that guy form 300 and narrator of deadliest warrior were a history channel narrator

  • Robespierre used tabloid lies to sway the people. Those who believed the lies were incited to riot. Those who could see through him were threatened with barbarism. Those who complained justly, were simply worried about the financial state of France and needed answers. The faux "national assembly" prevented the people from getting answers by blocking their participation in the Third Estate. They permitted no communication, only the spread of lies. It was a hostile take-over and not a revolution.

  • TUNISIAN 2011

  • This period of history fascinates me. I don't know why, it just does!

  • It was French Revolution which led Europe to become civilized...which we are witness of it today.

  • @BazSargand786 Please don't make such idiotic statements. The French revolutionaries made Attila the Hun look civilized. Tell me, what sort of barbarians cut open the stomaches of pregnant women ? What kind of monsters throw children out of windows and onto a sea of bayonets ? What sort of civilized person has such sick sexual desires that he would violate even the bodies of the dead? The French revolutionaries were barbarians of the lowest kind.

  • @ImperialRussianGuard What ever brother, you must accept that French Revolution led open the doors of civilization to Europe. dont pick up only negative points of that and make ur argument. You might be anti-French that's why u r not ready to accept reality.

  • @BazSargand786 On the contrary, I am very much Pro-French. That is why I detest the Jacobins, since no one committed such atrocities against the French as the followers of the revolution. The problem with trying to find positive points with the French revolution is that there are none. Exactly how did the French Revolution lead to civilization in Europe ? Enlighten me.

  • @BazSargand786 Opened the doors to civilisation in Europe? Are you crazy?.......There is a strong case to say the Roman Empire opened the doors to civilisation in Europe - a mere 2,000 years ago, but the French Revolution at 200 years ago? So Europe was uncivilised 200 years ago until a bunch of Frogs decapitated their entire nobility, which lead to the rise of a ruthless migit dictator who picked fights with everyone until he got his ass handed to him by the British.............What a dick!!!

  • @ImperialRussianGuard : where are you from brother?

  • @BazSargand786 Isn't my username self explanatory ?

  • @ImperialRussianGuard : i wana talk to you brother on voice.....

  • It's their fault because they were kings and queens. The people realized how stupid of notion "divine right" was. Called the dark ages. Kings and queens would eventual be overthrown, it's stupid.

  • I think it wasn't the queens or kings fault. The father just put him on his throne unprepared. Like that's not fair don't you think?

  • thumbs up if you have a test tomorrow

  • Ahhhhh watching people make babies. TOTALLY not awkward at all.

  • The video compilation "UFO Disclosure A Global Deception Conspiracy " ON

YOUTUBE is a disclosure of major lies + with held information

about life beyond Earth. Footage contains statements

from astronauts, presidents, military personnel, politicians plus

credible news footage. The compilation contains revelations regarding

awareness of free energy technology life beyond Earth along with the

current and ongoing presence which is being hidden from the public + more

  • @iriemike420-Yeah, now they air nothing but shows about aliens, pawn stores, pickers, ice road truckers, and bullshit prophecies.

  • this is really stupid

  • Stupid Question: : Who was The starter of Revolution. Really Amazing Doc.

  • 07:08 WHO thought that that was a good idear?????

    Akward, akward, AKWARD!!!!!!!

  • Ah the good old days back when History channel still showed actual history

  • @iriemike420 hell yeah

  • @iriemike420 I know!! they only play shite now :(

  • @iriemike420 yes!!!! And there are so many historical events the history channel could make documentaries about!!! I mean, inquisition, asian history, the ottoman empire, the gunpowder plot, the 30 years war and so many others. But now they prefer to make shows about the ness lake monster and truck drivers.... ¬¬

  • @iriemike420 They still do. You just gotta know when to tune in.

  • @TheRealThreeP

when do they show history. i never see anything that relates to history

  • @aceofspades477 Generally in the morning. That's when I saw this.

  • @TheRealThreeP

ok good, i am getting sick of all the shit that is on the history channel

  • @iriemike420 I agree! Even the model of the guillotine presented here, looks like the original 18th century model. Very rare conception as the guillotines presented in other documentaries / movies have the design of the late 19th century.

  • @gothexperiments Revolution occured from late 18th to early 19th centuries. Therefore, is accurate. YOUISING THEREFORE LIKE A SIR.

  • It's funny to hear American or English saying Robbespierre, in fact they say Robspierre, but you have to say Robbespierre with a 'e'

But I have nothing against Americans or English.

    Greetings from France !

  • i saw this in my history class

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUU!

  • history channel needs to make more shows like this and less werid stuff.

  • After watching this documentary, I got a serious crush on Robespierre. what an achiever!

  • @IrisRisen What an achiever? He went insane! He had thousands of people killed! He started with good intention, and went completely insane. Getting rid of God and replacing it with himself. Totally insane freak.

  • @Bingo1059 He also defeated the internal enemies as well as the horde of barbarian foreigners trying toi invade and invaded them in return.

  • I'm also a history nerd C:

I'm studying the French and Russian revolutions this year in class, I'm watching this before I start, I hope it helps me! Thanks for uploading :D

  • Louis was a denatured man. He was shy, he wasn't aggressive, he wasn't decisive, and he didn't even get some action on his wedding night. It must be painful to be him.

  • @kjordon1 but Louis 16 was love by the people, but somme letters was found in his room, with the other kingdom of europe, and was kill because he was a traitor. because the crown belongs in France and not opposite

  • Why the fuck im i watch this video ?

  • @NashvilleKildCountry That was his choice, he deserves no pity.

  • lol

  • you need to becareful tho, you might learn totally one-sided history from a view from one side. read 'People's history of the united states' by howard zinn. you may see what I mean.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! I've found that they've never taught me anything about this important historical event at school, and all of the books that I've checked out from the library on the French Revolution have all been so drastically boring as to not hold my attention for very long. This will be sure to help me remember. :D

  • Me mando J-lo.

  • watched this in class today. :D

  • O.o I still can't believe how bloodthirsty the French people were. Most of my blood is Western European. I think the only thing that isn't is my Native American blood. I know I've got French.

  • i pawn nubes (hutchinson)

  • I see it as basically being this simple. The monarchy sought to consolidate its power by undermining the feudal nobility. W/o a strong nobility to manage the peasants, the bureaucracy sought to replace it. It failed. Instead it turned to destroy the absolute monarch who created it & ran things for itself. This is what was called democracy. It has been crushing the life out of France ever since. I call it neo-mandarinism. As for Voltaire & the "Enlightenment," he wanted a pension from the king.

  • I have a test about this tomorrow, but I'd rather watch this than reading the book:P

  • 6:55......Awkward!

  • ...state and the accomplishments of man. Instead of modest and God fearing living, the age of enlightenment brought about a Luciferian concept of living, such as "do what you want and what you have the power to do because man is the supreme authority". The age of enlightenment is the greatest fall of man from grace to a state of proud sin and self righteous glorification.

  • What the revolution did, its underlying motive, was the removal of the previous ruling class of the nobility and the Church. Without the Church, and its full functionality of doctrinal and dogmatic guidance for the world (its ecclesiastical authority) as well as its administration of the sacraments, the world cannot truly love God. Following this horrible part of history, an aethestic and gnostic society emerged, which sought to crush the 'tyranny' of the Church (how foolish!), and worship the..

  • history's awesome, sarting my degree in september :D

  • yay for education :D!!!

  • I love history too. Unfortunately, we never learn from it.

  • @AngelPeace2211 : I agree partly, but the lower class was still mistreated. All the revolution did was cause a power shift in the higher classes. Spiritual health and well being were disregarded for the outpouring of greed and envy. The wealthy do generally hate the poor in their pride, but the poor equally hate the wealthy, not out of a desire for justice or fairness, but self interest and greed.

  • The French Revolution was possibly the most devastating collective acts of humanity. Unlike the atrocities of genocide and disease, this abomination was a revolt, destruction and overthrow of the Catholic Faith. Furthermore, the revolution was the first step in a series of global revolts which saw the end of humble living, Christian Order, and love of God. We exchanged our lives of physical poverty and temporal suffering for eternal damnation and sinful pride.

  • @catholicpeter But i think you need to look at exactly what the old feudal order was. Serfdom put people in poverty, they had few rights, and the Church (and no offense to this) encouraged its devout nations to run things like the Inquisition, and suppress scientific innovation. They did reform. The counter reformation put new scientists, lawyers and theologians to serve the church, and when tensions between labor and property arose in the 19th century, Populorum progressio radically changed

  • @catholicpeter the way that the Church operated, and i think it was very noble of Pope Leo XIII (and sorry, i mean rerum novarum, but Populorum progressio is very good too) to finally cast out the old feudal order and the new European liberals. But he was trying to save a church that was resented for everything it once stood for. The french revolution, the British empire's emerging- indeed the 18th century, planted the seeds of secularism. Was the revolution violent? Yes.

  • @catholicpeter and many devout, good Catholics died. I am a pacifist, and an atheist, but i still draw inspiration from figures like Oscar Romero, Dom Helder Camara, and Leo Tolstoy. What I am saying, is that the "humble living" the Church taught was followed by their followers- not those who led the church (and it still is today). By encouraging the supremacy of the Church through violence, they received violence.

  • @catholicpeter the revolution is the first step to the modern world, and because those who rules the world don't want to give up their power to the people, it is violent. When The French Rev began, all Europe went on war against France, for exemple. For the Christians, nobody regrets them in Europe. The present of Europe is secular and the future of the world will be secular. God = past.

  • @catholicpeter

So you think the world stopped loving God because of the french revolution?

  • Good video... but the picture at 1:29 is from the 1830 revolution !

  • All white Americans are European

  • regents 2day :O

  • Someone needs to roll a guillotine into Wall Street.

  • I LOVE REVOLUTION THE FRENCH

  • oh my god i hate when shows take like 5 minutes just to get to the point. I don't need a preview, just start the damn documentry.

  • Thank you so much! This has been so helpful!

  • who are Frances anccestors?

  • France comes from the name of a Germanic tribe callled Franks. However the people of Frances past are Celts, Romans (area of France was called Gaul at that time). France was inhabited by many tribes of C. after the Roman Empire fell. many Germanic tribes invaded it. I suggest you look up History of France on wiki. : )

  • This is one of the best documentaries on the French Revolution that I have seen

  • Good video. Taught me alot, and should for you too.

  • great and informative. I am writing a paper on Nana by Zola so I need to learn about this. Watch my videos!

  • Actually the real reason Louis XIV built Versailles was because he had a tramatizing experience as a child in Paris and henceforth didn't want to live there. He hated Paris and almost never went there.

  • Lviv was always Ukrainian, even when it was under Polish occupation, colonization and exploitation. Ukrainian people were not in charge, but they built Lviv with their hands. Polish people are reading Polish history, which is exaggerated and twisted, to show that Poles were good and kind - the truth is, Poles were the oppressors of the Ukrainian people.

  • 7:06 wow as if it wasnt akward enough...

  • nah rbes was da man!

  • what?

  • Robespierre was the shit
