Iyabo Alake Osanle Rest In Peace. I wish you were still alive. Your were a rising star when death came knocking at your door. You will continue to live in the minds of those who love your music.
I have watched this clip over and over again, and I am impressed with your good command, the coherence and coordination of your band it is outstanding. Your occasional matured dancing steps are exceptionally collected of experienced artist. Go on Omorilewa, compete with no one, just go on and I am sure you will go places
Rest in peace iyabo alake osanle ekaette1 mama okiki may God grant you eternal rest in is bossom .she passed away on sunday in nigeria of tuberculosiis
This is an exceptionally superb fuji composition. I am so proud of your lyric, it drives home all that is expected of talented and visionary singer. More grease to your elbow.
1.) Well, every popular form that begins in the gutter eventually works its way to the top, and so may it be with fuji music of the "Saje" genre. "Saje" means "peck it (or him or her)", possibly to death; it began as an extremely sassy, often dirty and inferior gutter version of a music form that was itself quite low on the scale of refined Yoruba popular music. It seems with this young woman there is an assured way to travel to stylistic excellence for both fuji...
Well OutreachT, you know the practitioners of these genres (Saje, waka, were, fuji, apala, etc) will strongly disagree with your characterization of their lifelihood as 'dirty, inferior, low-scale, and gutterish). But I do understand your stiff-upper-lip remarks, typical of the Yoruba middle-class attitutde to these kind of musics, which today, dominates Nigeria's top charts. What's your take on juju and Yoruba gospel?
3.) ... "Ko yaa l'enu bi eeyan!" (You had better have a mouth befitting a person"; i.e., so you can sing praises well!)
And the multi-layered rippling of the drums is one of the unquestionable contributions of fuji music as a whole to modern Yoruba popular music. Young lady, continue to work on your craft, learn to reject the Lagos "me too I don come, my turn don arrive" mentality, and the sky will be your limit. O l'enu gan (you get plenty mouth), but even more your footwork is something!
Gabmos, u no do me well at all, where's d remaining part of this vid???? u stoped it when it's getting intersting, oh my Goodness me, anyroad, O lenu gan!
her hype man is good ..the backup guy can start his own band too ..she is very good her self ..she can add some dance steps to go to the next level ..much love

Drum ensemble is killer good especially the Iya-Ilu and Shakara players. The male singer is tone deaf however.

2.) ... music and its "Saje" hybrid. She sings brilliantly and has a delightful call-and-response rapport with her second:
Omorilewa: "O se, egbon mi. Mo l'enu..." ("Thanks, bro. I have a mouth"; i.e. lay off, I can do my own vocals)
"Mo m'eeyan kan" ("I know a person"; i.e. whose praises I'd like to sing)
Second: "O l'enu gan an!" (You have plenty of mouth, indeed!)
"Ma l'enu bi t'ekute! Ma l'enu bi eranko!" (Make sure it's not a mousy mouth! Make sure it's not a beast's mouth!")...
Outreachat 3 years ago
Exactly "Lay of, I can do my vocal"
Lol...I love that part!
