hey got a ? i sanded my old paint off my car then primered it.but when i looked closely the car has a lot of scratches on the primer.what can i do to fix this.thanks
pete u teach just like my dad,he uses all hutchins and dynabrade sanders like a 800 series long da sander but i like ur style, maybe you can teach these butchers in n.m. something
@kelseylovesyou00 clean them out with vineger water, or muratic acid, wash off thourly with water, then grind and fill... I would double check to make sure there is NO pinholes.. Pete
Pete i have a 2000 dodge ram. My question is some douch side swiped it and pushed the bottom cab corner in tword the bed should i sit thier and get pissed and take my time for a week or so or shoud i just cut it out and replace it?
@tomc4x4 actually if you have insurance, you might consider taking it to a respectable paint and body shop.. But if you do it yourself, I would suggest to try to pull it out if its not real bad, and if its actually crushed and crinkled then loosin your bed move it back and cut and weld... Good luck, and a real shame... Pete
@partyboysrh Remove your windshield and see what the problem is first. It sounds like it might be where the factory welds are, and they leaded over them.. If its that case, grind the lead down and inspect the factory seam, if needbe reweld and bondo up, then prime and refinish... Hope this helps you out.. Pete
Hey I got a 1972 mk1 ford escort (americans wouldnt be familiar with this car) Iv been to body shops and im getting big quotes because of the ripples in the car. The car needs to be soda blasted. Would it be possible to do the ripples myself? I have no body shop knowledge really. I can spanner great but never ventured to bodywork. I really need to do this car on a budjet. But I will not do it if the car cant be done perfect...Any tips?
Thanks alot for replying to my question, I have a lot of respect for you and don't even know you. If you was to sell these videos you post for free on youtube, I would by them. I can tell you are not all about the money, but the pride in your work and this is very important when choosing someone to do your work. Thanks alot bro, and keep up your superior work. P.S tell Jeff I said get his head out of his ass. I luv when you yell at him. LOL
Damm pete, I bet this work cost a lot of money. I am restoring my 1967 chevelle ss. I have the same window channel rust problem like this one if not worst. I know it's hard to tell without looking at it, but whats the price range for that window work. 1500-2500, or what. Thanks from San Antonio TX.
Well, I don't want to disclose how much the owner spent on his car doing what we did to fix it, but I can tell you this, on a job like this you really don't know how much it's going to cost, because you don't really know how much rust there is till you get into it.. I charge by the hour to repair rust like this--50.00 pr hr do be exact, I worked on it off and on for 2 months or so, till it was done. Repairing window channel rust is the worst rust to fix, because it's so tidius and frustrating...
cool stuff Pete! that long block is HUGE! I could used that bastard on the bed of a truck I did a while back. and you wouldnt take that filler down with 120 now? and then another guide coat taken down with 180 then primer? its going red right? so you would use a white primer?
Before I prime the car, I will block it down to 180, then after the primer I will again dry block it to 320.. Then re=prime, and wetsand and paint............ This car is going to be tu-tone pearl white and orange...... Thanks Pete
I wanted to do a two tone on my 69 chevelle but everybody and there brother splits on the line I want to and coming up with a good split design (vs straight) is a bit difficult to me cause i feel that im messing with a "cult" classic. like putting suicide doors on a bel air, it just doesnt fly for most people... and car show judges. but im sure that orange and pearl white will look sweet!
Oh yeah, what brand do you like to shoot? House of colors, PPG?
